This is an amazing way to address 2 major issues! Recidivism for inmates and Suicide among vets. It’s a beautiful thing to also give the knowledge of bond base training to the inmates and education for the pups! Thank you!

I love THPR and have been going for about six months, I have boarded my dog twice and gone to daycare about 15 times. I think the price of $24/day is worth it for an 8. 5 hour day and my queensland mix comes home sooo tired and happy, and it's hard to get her tired out! I feel that THPR does a really good job accomodating my dog as well because she does not get along with 100% of dogs and crowd situations, so THPR has always adjusted to her and put her in less populated and more quiet areas, which I really appreciate. I feel that the staff, especially Marlon and Tori, go above and beyond to make owner and dog feel comfortable. More...

We use Thousand Hills often to board our two dogs. (Aussie and Corgi). We have used them for several years and our pups are always happy and exhausted when we get them back from boarding. If they stay for more than a few nights we have them groomed on the day of pick up and that is just an added benefit. Recommend them highly! Joan More...

I am a wife of a Veteran who received a very well trained Standard Poodle as his service dog. Not only did New Life K9 trainers educate the Veterans through an 80 hour training, they were compassionate and passionate about their service to Veterans and their love for dogs and bond based teaching. We are so lucky to have this organization in our community of San Luis Obispo, California. My husband has a K9 friend and a service dog who is giving back to my husband the way my husband gave to us and our country. More...

I am a combat veteran who proudly served our country and was honorably discharged. After several years of difficulty readjusting from war, I needed help. I was happy to be selected for a New Life K9 service dog. I was treated with respect. I was taught the skills my dog could provide me and the benefits. The staff were very helpful in guiding me with my new learning so that my dog and I could create a bond. My hats off to the staff and volunteers. Art Martinez More...

New Life K9s trains Service Dogs for Veterans and First Responders with PTSD and GIVES the dog to the recipient at no charge. As a recent recipient of a New Life K9s dog myself, my life has literally been given back to me again. I'm able to live a normal life again and do all of the things that people take for granted. I loved the staff and the mission of New Life K9s so much I became a volunteer, and it's like a big family. If you are or if you know a Veteran or First Responder with PTSD that you think could benefit from a Service Dog, contact New Life or go on their website and fill out an application for a Service Dog. And if you want to volunteer for an important cause, there's a volunteer application on their website as well. Thank you New Life K9s for the important work you do! More...

We have 3 larger dogs (2 huskies and a Shepard mix) and have never had to board them/doggy day care them before. We were a bit worried when we found out we needed to while we put new floors in our house. After a little research, we wanted to try this place out since they had cute cottages that all 3 dogs could stay in together. Thousand HIlls was sooooo overly awesome and we are sooo happy we took our dogs there and will do so again!! We started with trying out the doggy day care for a few days. Our dogs came home super tired but happy and every time we drove up to Thousand Hills, they got so excited I thought they were going to jump out of the windows to get there. We just had them boarded there for a few nights and the staff couldn't be any nicer! We emailed a few times while our dogs were there to check on them and they responded very quickly. It seems like the staff really enjoys their jobs! Love that they give your dog "report cards" and will do a free day at day care so they can see what yard is best for your dog. Thanks guys. Hope to send our pups again soon! More...

Chinita was rescued from the streets of Punta Arenas, Chile. Since coming to Thousand Hills, her confidence and character has increased tremendously. She sits at the door of my car in the garage now early in the morning. This is how I know she wants to go play at Thousand Hills. I'm happy because I know she's getting the socialization skills and that extra bit of energy worn out of her everyday she's there. As a result, I find her mentally, physically and emotionally more balance. I highly recommend and prefer Thousand Hills. The yards aren't cramped or over crowded and these dogs have room to run and play with each other. Thank you, Thousand Hills for making a huge difference in my dog. I see the difference! More...

On a recent visit to San Luis Obispo I found that I needed some doggie day care. Thousand Hills Pet Resort had been recommended. So I reluctantly put my two doxies into their trusting hands. This would be our first experience. (I was the one with separation anxiety!) They were welcomed with open arms, and off they happily trotted. Upon my return at the end of the day, we were all reunited safe and sound. The staff was very friendly and efficient. The grounds were clean and well kept. It was a great experience! We have moved around a lot with our dog, so we've tried a number of different playcare/boarding facilities. Thousand Hills is one of the best we've been to. They have nice grounds and friendly, knowledgeable staff; overall, the operation just seems really well run and organized, which is what you want when leaving the dog you love with strangers! Our dog Murphy spent nearly a week boarding there. We really appreciated the updates on how he was doing, and the prices are really reasonable considering all that they offer. We would rarely go anywhere due to lack of boarding/house sitting options. Then we found Thousand Hills Pet Resort. What a wonderful place. We are traveling in the RV and it is hard to have time to go places when you have to be back to walk the dogs. We have 3 chihuahuas and walk them 5 to 6 times a day. They really enjoy the resort and we will be doing it again. One of ours has been there for 4 years straight in the summer and the other for 3 years. The newest one is another rescue and she seemed to enjoy the resort also. The daily report cards with pictures is a great addition and makes us not feel so bad about not being with them.
