The atmosphere was nice gave you the feeling that it's a nice upscale restaurant. The Pasta Primavera, seemed a little on the bland side of things. It tasted as if they used regular oil like granola oil or vegetable oil not olive oil. It leads me to really consider another try. More...

10/16/2019 We had a small wedding in the private dining room at the beginning of October and were very pleased with everything. Kaitlin and her team did an amazing job! Kaitlin was very helpful with the planning and the servers were very attentive to our guests. The drinks, appetizers and dinner were served with great timing and everyone enjoyed their meal. This was our 1st visit to The Wooden Nickel, & we were disappointed. The entrees were very different from other restaurants. There wasn’t a great choice of vegetables or potatoes. The waitress seemed distracted and kept forgetting to get us refills on our drinks, we had to ask for bread, etc.Sadly the place was fairly empty. Maybe a Sunday night was a bad choice to go there. Service was just right. Prompt, but not intrusive. Food was very good. The Wooden Nickel was not to crowded so we were able to have 2 1/2 hours of conversation in a very nice atmosphere. I'd go back again.

Iconic Monroeville restaurant. Great place for a casual drink or head on over to the dining room for date night. The wine flights always change and offer a fun way to sample new offerings. We celebrated Father's Day at Wooden Nickel with a family dinner. Everyone found something that was perfect for their tastes. The special that night was lamb chops - pricey, but well worth it. The best lamb chops we've ever had, and the portions were huge, cooked to perfection.I've always loved their salads and the house dressing, a champagne vinegrette that is one of my favorite dressings of any restaurant. For those who ordered seafood, it was super fresh, and cooked just right.It's a great old world style restaurant, with white table clothes, excellent service and an incredible meal. We had reservations for 11:00 am on a Sunday. There was confusion with the opening and we didn't get seated for about 15 minutes or so. As we were in no rush, we just waited. Not a complaint, actually, just an observation. Certainly no complaints about the service or the food. We were the only customers in the place for a while and it was great to be able to relax, chat, eat very good food. Will definitely go back again.
