The Waterview

If you want some of the most amazing food on Long Island, and in most parts of the city, go to WATERVIEW. The location is fantastic, overlooking the LI Sound, but what really sells you is the quality, and quantity, of the food. I had a Braised Lamb Shank simmered in its own stock, with mashed potatoes and garden vegetables, that was, by far, the best I've had in 60 years. The Lamb shank was also tremendous and super tender. My wife had the Delmonico Steak and it was also huge and cooked to perfection.On top of all the good food and ambience, there was an amazing female singer who performed a fantastic mix of hits and oldies. We had our wedding here 8/2/19 and there is not a single thing i would have changed! We booked with Diana who was amazing and very responsive. Every request I had was met right away and the day of staff was on top of everything before I even thought to ask. The food was top notch and their waterfront view was breathtaking on that beautiful sunny day! i highly recommend for wedding and even smaller affairs ad they have other rooms in addition to the main event ballroom. Came here for my sister’s birthday. We hadn’t seen each other in a few weeks and just wanted to do something nice. She’d never been here so I wanted her to eat some place with a nice view. We ordered:- whiskey sours x2- GREEK FLATBREAD PIZZA – wood fired flatbread, olives, feta, bruschetta, balsamic glaze- BARRAMUNDI THERMIDOR – Crab & herb cheese topping, smashed potato, baby carrots- LINGUINI & CLAMS – Eastern Little Neck clams, white wine butter sauce, grilled garlic herb bread- Tiramisu for dessert Everything was great. My mother and I was greeted by the hostess, who was lovely. We were later greeted by the host Mark, who was incredibly accommodating. He even remembered my name from my previous visit! Steven was our waiter. He was not only personable, he was extremely personable. The service was wonderful. The location is BEAUTIFUL (inside and out), but there was NO SHADE provided for the wedding and since the wedding started late and it was insanely hot, we were pleasantly surprised no one passed out. Once we got to cocktail hour, everything was wonderful even though we could only find a table outside (in the shade provided by an umbrella). Since there are very high bushes near the wedding site where we were, it blocked a lot of the natural breeze (and all of the view) that would have helped make the wedding itself bearable. We sat VERY far away from the front, clinging to shade, which had long left us by the time the wedding actually started.I'd recommend getting shade if you get married outside or holding the wedding inside. Went to a bridal shower here yesterday and I have to say I was very impressed with this venue.  First, the views were spectacular from the room we were in.  There was a lovely deck with tables and chairs so we could sit outside and watch the boats go by.  For lunch we had a choice of beef short rib, chicken franchaise or penne a la vodka.  I chose the beef and boy was I glad ... it was cooked to perfection, and I didn't even need a knife to cut it, it just fell apart with a fork!  The accompanying veggies and roasted potatoes were also good, although I could have used a few more veggies. Oh, before I forget, the salad was delicious and beautifully presented (wish I took a pic!).  Our server was great too.  All in all it was a very enjoyable party and I would definitely come back here for dinner on a special occasion! We had an amazing adventure at the Waterfront last Sunday!The storm blew up so quickly with such high get force winds, it knocked Brian, my husband to the ground. We sat outside for date night on Saturday. The experience was so amazing. The service was very attentive and made us feel like we were their number one customer. The food was amazing, great portions for a great price. For appetizers we ordered the fried calamari and the tuna tower. The calamari were a great size and breaded perfectly and paired nicely with three dipping sauces. The tuna tower was so fresh you were able to taste each level of the tower. The dinner we had the steak and veal Milanese. The steak cut like butter and melted in the mouth. Came here on a summer day with some family who was around for vacation from the UK.  Wanted to show them around and eat somewhere nice.  This place isn't too far so we decided to make a reservation here.We wanted to sit outside so we can enjoy the scenery, the people having a tennis match nearby and the the view of the water.  We were sat quickly, but the only thing was that there were a bunch of bumble bees buzzing around.  It wasn't a big problem, just a nuisance.  What we ordered:-  Greek Flatbread Pizza - wood fired flatbread, olives, feta, bruschetta,white aged balsamic glaze-  Fish and chips-  Lobster roll with fries-  Cliffside punch and white wine-  Shrimp cocktailEverything was so nice.  The service was great and the food was good. Our visit started in the bar where the Bartenders were friendly and attentive. We moved to the dining room where our server was informative and very nice. The Ahi Tuna appetizer was very good, the wedge salad was fresh, the bacon was warm and it was nicely presented. Our entrees were excellent and we took a good portion home for lunch the next day. We really enjoyed our recent experience at Cliffside/Waterview Port Jeff. There were many food selections and were deliciously prepared. The kitchen was a little backed-up but the waitstaff was most apologetic. Wine selections by the glass were unremarkable. Our first experience at the Waterview Port Jeff was during the summer. I’m hesitant to give away this secret: We go to lunch there on the 27th of December each year – Friends ferry across from CT. It is always empty – just one other table. It is fantastic to have the place to ourselves.The service has been consistently wonderful on these occasions.Since Danforths has taken over management the kitchen has really gone up. Our meal and service was very good. We had drinks, appetizer, meal and dessert and coffee. I really enjoyed the Arancini Rice Balls and the Brasato Ravioli.
