We had intended on going in, JUST to fill out the paperwork, we even had a discussion on the way, that we were NOT adopting a dog that day. Then we met Arlo, he chose us the first week of May, his first day on the floor. The adoption counselors were amazing, so knowledgeable, accommodating, and legitimately concerned about the welfare of their furry guests. We went back to visit Arlo every day until he was ready to be released to his forever home, utilizing the precious space available in their adoption rooms. Even so, they never seemed like it was a burden or an inconvenience. The staff was just a constant ray of sunshine, every day we were there. Arlo has even perked up and shown his mischievousness! I’m loving it, he’s great with the kids as if he’s known them their whole lives and truly starting to come out of his shell. I hope this team understands the exponential difference they have made in our lives already and it’s all because of them and their hard work and dedication to these animals. More...

We have had two great dogs from there that were loyal and sweet. Our Weezer that is now in doggie heaven, made people who didn't like dogs, fall in love with her and decided dogs weren't bad at all. WCHS is full of staff and volunteers who care about animals 500%-- the generosity of the staff and volunteers is amazing. The level of care given to the animals is top-notch . We got our Sheltie from them many years ago. they were clean, super to work with loving they really care about the animals I would say they are super I will come there again. we had Our Sherman for 13 years then his liver failed him I cried so hard. but he is at Rainbow Bridge waiting for me. In 2004 we adopted a dog named Porter. He had become a very loved and loving friend of ours. I am disabled and he became my unofficial service dog. He was always there for me. We changed his name to Rusty and he was the most special and loyal family member we could ever find. In January he became violently ill and with assistance of our vet we sent him to heaven. We recently lost our two orange boys Simon and Garfunkel two days apart. They were 17 years old and the love of our lives. Our house was so quiet and so empty. So two weeks out we were looking for another cat to fill our house with love. We adopted a sweet 18 month old cat. The volunteers and staff were wonderful to work with and very understanding of our tears from the recent loss of our two boys. we adopted Lucky (former name was Licorice), a male black cat, from this location a couple weeks ago. sure, some people may find tthe 24 hr wait time for approval and adoption to be frustrating, BUT it honestly is a good process. it ensures a good home for the animal and gives people who aren't 100 percent committed to it time to reconsider. we originally went to look at a gorgeous Himalayan male, but it turned out to not be the best fit for either of us. the staff were incredibly helpful and patient as we looked at a handful of cats, and finally found the one. thanks for everything! What an amazing staff WCHS has. Today we made a very hard decision but we had to put our dog of 13 years down. We decided to go through WCHS to do it. From the moment we walked through that door we were taken care of. Chris, Jessie and Ashley were amazing. They walked us through the process, let us have our time and told us to let them know when we were ready. They were so gentle with her. Jessie sat with us all the way to the end petting her.
