The Stone Man

When my husband and I first met George, we could tell right away how genuine he was in his desire to create a unique outdoor living space that would bring our vision to life.  He listened and made suggestions without imposing his ideas. He made it clear that he wanted the final product to reflect what we wanted and how we wanted to feel in our space. We knew at the end of our meeting that we were in good hands. We had a couple more meetings before the start of the project to make sure we were certain with all the details and selections. At that point, we felt at ease taking on such a large and costly project because we knew George and his team would get it right. Fast forward 3 months -- they got it SO right. It was better than we could imagined. Matt, our project manager kept us posted constantly throughout the project and always checked in to see if we were happy with every detail. He did not hesitate if we asked to change minor details along the way. The stone crew's attention to detail and workmanship is remarkable. Matt coordinated the different trades (carpentry, paint, electrical,  etc...) really well so that we would stay on schedule and on budget. All in all, we are beyond thrilled with the final product. Working with The Stone Man was a great experience.  George listened to our vision of our patio and added excellent suggestions.  His plans were extremely thorough and we were able to see many examples of available stones and blocks as well as examples of his work.  This made our choices easier.  Matt was our landscape designer.  He redesigned our front beds in addition to designing the beds around the patio, which is on a slope.  He listened to our plant and color preferences and also offered alternatives if something wasn't the best choice.  Jeremy was our project manager.  He had the weather working against him and his crew, but always communicated what was going on in a timely manner.  His crew always showed up when they were supposed to and cleaned up our property at the end of the day.  We are very happy with our driveway extensions, beds and patio.  We had lower estimates, but give ourselves 5 stars for choosing to work with The Stone Man.  He was worth every penny. Having recently moved to NC we wanted to improve our outdoor living space and had George/The Stone Man come to our house for a free consultation, which was thorough and efficient.   George was extremely friendly and it was a low pressure experience with no upfront costs for an initial consult.  We followed up with an in office visit where he walked us through some designs and outlined all of the costs.  This is craft work as the masonry is all done on site and the costs are more expensive than kit/box builders, but not that much more. The Stone Man was a fantastic company to deal with from start to finish. The entire process was clearly explained, communication was excellent all the way through and there were no surprises. Even though the weather was totally uncoperative, they tried their hardest to meet the due dates. Attention to detail was exceptional, so much so that on the final day I returned home well after dark to find the team pressure washing street outside our house to ensure everything was returned to the same state it was before they started. We can't say enough about how happy we are with the work from The Stone Man!. They came up with a fire pit and outdoor hardscape area design that was really creative, and wove all of our ideas and goals into the work. I had a vision of what my yard could be, and The Stone Man helped make it a reality. I got a stone facelift of my front stoop (it used to be painted bricks with cracks and a caulk seam), a paver walkway and patio, and a large retaining wall to form out the edge of my yard. The Stone Man did an incredible job in our backyard! We enjoyed the design and planning process. George listened carefully and created a plan that adressed all of our concerns and needs. We had an ample selection of materials to choose from. We received thorough and timely communications from the office so that there were no surprises with regards to the construction schedule. With support from Matt, our crew Tio, Duba and Miguel completely transformed our yard addressing critical drainage issues as well as building a retaining wall, patio, fire pit and a lovely flag-stone walkway. We began working with The Stone Man almost 8 years ago to help us embellish our garden with stone steps, walkways, borders and the like. The landscape has evolved over time and Stone Man has returned roughly every other year to add more elements. This year we added a parking pad to the hardscape. The Stone Man's customer service is outstanding. Their designs are unique and cohesive. It was important to me that our hardscape fit appropriately with our 1960's ranch house on a wooded 3/4 acre lot. Met with George early on when we were still deciding on what we would like to do with the project and he listened to our thoughts, shared his experiences and helped us shape our end product. Came back a week or so later with a 3D rendering (cost extra, but worth it IMO) and had captured our thoughts in a visual. Signed the contract that day.

In 2009, The Stone Man installed a paver patio. In 2013, The Stone Man added on to the patio. Recently, I contacted The Stone Man because some of the edging around the patio came loose and a few of the pavers had dipped

George had a team come out within a few days to fix the issues and they also put down a new layer of sand in the joints. From beginning to end they were a pleasure to work with. There were a lot of little things that made a big impact for me. They were always on-time, confirmed appt ., not high pressure, and loved the numerous ideas they brought to the table. Met at the yard to pick out materials and the crew from the Stone Man were very helpful and upfront with what materials to consider and why. Then when the workers showed up, they were there at sunrise until sunset. I was most impressed with them because they seemed to always be working. When they arrived each morning, they each knew their role and got to work. It was always the same guys which I liked, and cleaned up each night before leaving, and everyone was very respectful and courteous.

Lastly and maybe most important, the craftsmanship of the patio they did was meticulous. I thought I was a perfectionist, but these guys took it to a new level. The patio, outdoor kitchen, firepit, and walls were extremely solid and I am very satisfied with the outcome.

About four years ago my husband and I decided to add a stone patio to our back yard. We had seen a wonderful display at the Home and Garden Show in Charlotte created by The Stone Man and contacted them to discuss our project. From the initial planning through its completion we couldn’t have been happier with our choice. George Crump made the initial visit and had us describe the environment we wanted to create. This helped us visualize the finished space. He listened well, encouraged our feedback and with patient guidance, led us through the design process. We always felt that he cared about the outcome as much as we did and took the time needed to clarify our vision. Meeting at the stone yard to discuss stone options was helpful as we were able to see samples of various projects completed in different materials. Soon the flatbed of stone arrived and an amazing crew of stone wizards began to build. They were excellent craftsmen. They took great care to follow the design while accommodating any changes that arose. They worked hard for long hours and always left the workspace neat at the end of each day. We grew to love hearing them chipping away in the back bantering together as they worked or quietly concentrating on their craft.
The project was done on budget, on time but it totally exceeded our expectations. My husband and I both feel as if the patio has transformed our home. TheStone Man team was excellent in listening to our ideas, providing their own thoughts from their vast experience, developing a computer model to show us how the project would look and options for pricing. From the begining the communication was excellent. There was never a time that I called George or his project manager that I did not recieve a phone call in return.
