We have been regular customers since they opened. We regularly order for birthdays and holidays but we will not be back. I ordered a to-go order as usual and right away we noticed over 1/2 the food was missing. The very nice manager apologized and remade it for us. When we got home and opened the 5 containers we were missing almost 75% of what we ordered and paid for. There was one container that ONLY had 4 pieces of sliced turkey. We were missing sides and there was enough pulled pork for a single sandwich. The only container that was not deceiving was the one with the ribs, which were complete. It looked like the person who packed it was only told to use 5 containers, it didn't matter what or how much they put in them. Four of them were wrong. I called up there and it went straight to voicemail and then said it was not available to take a message. I went up there on Monday, closed. I went up there on Tuesday and there was a sign saying they were closed to work on their menu. I went back on Thursday and the very nice manager apologized but when she asked the owner to reimburse the order, he only would reimburse 25%. He said I waited 5 days to let them know. Best bbq around. Their brisket and burnt ends are amazing. I love the sauce that comes with the pulled pork. Great sides too! Sweet potato casserole is my mom's FAVORITE. I love the mac n cheese and the broccoli cheese casserole. Ppl say Midwood Smokehouse is the best, but I think it's because they've never had The Smoke Pit! More...

This BBQ place had a line out the door, and for good reason. The food was amazing, and sauces were amazing, and the portions were wonderful. I got the pulled pork, with mac n cheese and the sizzling sauce. It was so good! I also had two friends who had never had southern BBQ, and they got to try some of the best for their first try. I would highly recommend checking this place out. They have lots of indoor and outdoor seating, or you can get your food to go. (There are separate lines for each. If I were you... get the biggest combo with your friends and add all the sides.I've been kind of disappointed in the way of BBQ since moving to Charlotte from the Northeast. Â In that "is that all you've got?" kind of way. Â We have had Midwood Smokehouse (in Midwood plaza), McKoy's down in the Southern half of the 485 loop. Â I know it's only been 2 places, but when they're that well rated, I guess I was just really expecting them to be better. I just found that the meats were too tough or not flavorful enough.The Smoke Pit has got all the flavor and tenderness I've been searching for. Â Partner and I got the 3 meat combo (pulled pork, dry rub ribs, and mixed fattiness brisket) with corn bread and sides galore. Â Let's start with the meat. Â ALL fantastic. Â Sometimes you'll find a place that has really great pulled pork but they're severely lacking in good brisket. Â Not this place, all of it was absolutely fantastic. Â Moist pulled pork great on its own. Â Brisket that was able to be cut with a fork. Â Ribs where the meat fell off the bone. Â Partner doesn't even usually like ribs because they're "too much work" but he liked these. Â All of it was fantastically seasoned and served wonderfully as standalone meat entrees but the sauces were equally as great. Â Everything from vinegar to molasses to mustard based.Sides were so so good.White slaw wasn't too mayo-y. Â The cabbage didn't get soggy at all.Deviled egg potato salad was super mayo-y but oh so good because hardboiled eggs are the bomb.Casserole of the day - Hash Browns - reminded me of extra cheesy scalloped potatoes and that's a good thing.Fried okra - solidMac and Cheese - noodles so soft they buckled under the pressure of all the cheesey goodnessCornbread gets a nod for being a big fat chunk that wasn't dry or too sweet.Nice people, good service. If you are in Salisbury and want some BBQ that is but more classy than a "smoke pit" come here. The staff is super friendly and knowledgeable. We had the burnt ends platter and brisket spud. The sides are ample and tastes. I recommend the white and red slaw, and the fried okra. The sauces are good but truly it's the meat when you have BBQ. Southern hospitality *and* legit BBQ... score! We had the fried pickle appetizer (ordered 2... one is enough to feed an army), and the BBQ platter/plate, which is listed as serving 6-8. Our party of 7 ate one of the pickle appetizers and enough food to hold us over for an entire week... and still had about half of the platter left to take home. The Smoke Pit is hands down the best BBQ I've ever had. I ate there a year ago and was blown away. Since then I've had the chance to try BBQ at other restaurants across a few different states including a couple restaurants in Kansas City. .. none of them can compare to the Smoke Pit. Everything I've tried has been excellent! Flavor is prevalent in everything, including the sides. The meat is always tender, juicy, and full of flavor. They don't rely on a sauce to make up for lack of flavor in the meat itself like a lot of other BBQ joints. The sauce compliments the flavor that's already there at the Smoke Pit. Love this place! I love a good BBQ joint and this place satisfied my BBQ craving. My family ordered quite a spread; we ordered ribs, chicken wings, brisket, burnt ends, greens, Mac and cheese, and fries. Everything tasked great! My favorite was the burnt ends! The chucks of brisket were huge with their delicious sweet bbq sauce smothering them. The Texas brisket was moist. The ribs had a delicious bark on them. The chicken wings were juicy and flavorful. Â All the sides were delicious As well. The pricing is decent and the staff was friendly! Wow, this place is it if you are looking for a great BBQ spot in the Concord area. The prices are very reasonable and the serving size is huge.
