We stopped for lunch at Privateer for the first time yesterday.  It was on my list of restaurants to checkout.  What a find.  The food was awesome!  We had the meatball sandwich and falafel pita with side salads.  Both were delicious.  From the smells coming out of the kitchen we knew the food was going to be good.  We were not disappointed.  The portions were generous.  Especially the side salad.  We will be back. Wow this has place elevated both the pizza and pasta game not to mention the sandwiches and burgers over the last year. Executive Chef Samantha has really pulled the kitchen team together and her influence running the kitchen is evident throughout the menu, Especially now that their Fall/Winter menu was just launched on Oct 1st (The menu changes seasonally, twice a year). A new item on the Fall menu, Baked Ziti with Tiger Shrimp, was ridiculously good. This had BIG tiger shrimp in it, just enough alfredo sauce and nice little crunchy edge from baking. I eat the whole thing! On another visit I had the Gnocchi with housemade fennel sausage, walnut pesto and arugula. Get a side of crostini because you'll want to get every last bit of the sauce!Their basic cheese pizza, Margarita and Cap'n Finn are my favs. I love thin, crunchy crust pizza and the coal fire blistered up the crust just right. There are plenty of "add on" options to customize your pie as well. The sandwiches on the Lunch menu are also great, with many options such as the Muffuletta with toasted sesame bun or the Herbed Turkey & Cheese sandwich on multi-grain sourdough.  The Mahi Mahi Taquitos and Fish Tacos (offered battered or grilled on corn tortillas or in a lettuce wrap) are on both the Lunch and Dinner menu. Both are very generous and delicious portions.Salads. Oh the salads! Their house made dressings are the perfect pairings for the Caesar, Privateer and seasonal Pear Salads. A half order is dinner by itself and big enough to share. This place uses quality ingredients and everything tastes like it. There are many veggie and vegan options available for A LOT of items on the menu and these are noted on the easy to understand menu. They also have HAPPY HOUR deals on food & drink from 4-6pm.Oh and the DESSERTS are BOMB. In addition to some house made desserts such as the yummy bread pudding, they have a dessert bar of sorts next door in the wine bar area. They bring in desserts from local bakers such as Petite Madeline, Faye's Desserts, Le Macaron (amazing macarons!), Snoples, Gelato Love and Jitters. Add a Steady State coffee or a dessert wine and you've just completed a great evening eating out!I've been in many times, as it's one of my go to neighborhood places. Staff is super friendly and service is usually speedly unless I'm there at peak dinner hour rush. Then it can be a bit slow, but their deep and diverse wine & beer list keeps me happily sipping away while I wait.  It's very family friendly place as well great for couples. It was an amazing night. we held my sons and future daughters rehearsal dinner there. The food was amazing and setting were perfect but it was the staff who made the night so special-they went above and beyond making all of our guests feel like they were there just for them. Privateer is the BOMB.COM. Family friendly, awesome staff, very chill atmosphere, and great vibes. Nice outdoor patio seating which is hard to come by around the area. Privateer was an eye opener. They have an amazing cauliflower pizza crust. It's light, flavorful, and crispy. I didn't miss having regular pizza dough at all. They put razor thin slices of  pineapple on the pizza in a way I'd never seen before. The red sauce was rich and tangy. The fact they have sheep and goat cheese allowed those of us who can't eat cow dairy the opportunity to indulge. The pizza was delicious! The shoestring fries were also some of the best I've ever had. (Be sure to try the goat cheese, rosemary fries.)Our sever was fantastic. We have been living in Oceanside for almost 6 years and looking for a great tasting pizza with thin crust all this time. Today we found it! Super thin, fresh ingredients and great service. Pair that with a large selection of wine and beer, we had a winner. A bit pricey for 12” pizzas, but satisfying. We ordered the vegan pizza for me and the potato pizza for him. We could have eaten the whole pizzas right there, but went carefully and ate half. Bonus - we both have the other half for later :) There are lots of pizza places in Oceanside, CA, but if you are looking for authentic coal fire and this crust, this is the place. We came here ( my son's original first choice) after a  pizza place in Carlsbad let us down.What a difference awaited us here! The wood fire aroma  greeted us from around the corner where we parked ,  the smells of delicious pizza greeted us as we walked in, the place was full of happy people , the owner met us at the door and seated us immediately and checked back with us throughout the meal. And what a meal it was, the privateer salad was a unique mixture of healthy greens and a fabulous pesto dressing that made me wish I had soft bread to swab  up  that huge bowl when we were done. We had meatball appetizer also delicious with a slight tang to the tomato sauce and our fennel sausage pizza did not disappoint. Charlie, the owner, walked me over to the next door wine and dessert annex and generously comped desert!!!!  We will be back!!! More...

Best pizza in North San Diego County, if not the entire So Cal. Yea, thats how amazing they are. This place got it going on! I grew up in NYC and I know quality pizza. Their dough is amazing and pizza comes out top notch. I come here 2-3 times a month to get my fix. Super tasty! Also, their custom-built stromboli is the bomb. Great beer selection and the service is excellent. I do miss their lemon pepper chicken wings thou. I've been coming here for about 4 years now and never had a bad experience. Keep up the excellence! This place is simply amazing!!! The food is delicious and the ingredients seem high quality. We had a vegan pizza, pepperoni and olive pizza and half ceasar salad with yummy bread knots(sticks). The half ceasar Was enough for 3 people to share. The bread was served with a spread obal garlic and a their marinara sauce. They have indoor and outdoor seating. We chose the outdoor seating and even though they were crazy busy(I mean super slammed) we had a very attentive server and she had great support in tending to us. They even brought water for my dog and allowed me to order a very affordable chicken breat(no seasoning) for my dog. It was a great experience and the food was killer. On the hunt for good pizza. First time on a Sunday afternoon. Able to get a table no problem. Staff friendly and quick. Kinda pricey but not real bad. Lots to choose from on menu. Restaurant clean. Pizza and beer atmosphere. There were three of us in our group. Ordered a Captain Fin pizza, pepperoni Stromboli, tri-tip sandwich and a couple beers.The pizza consisted of clam sauce, provolone, potato and bacon. Was delicious. Will definitely get again.Stromboli was nice sized and was served with a bowl of piping hot dipping sauce. It also came with a salad but changed to fries. The tri-tip was also nice sized.
