We were on our way back to Florida from Vermont and wanted some real Carolina BBQ. This was just the place. About 10 minutes off I95 and worth the detour. Clean, well-lit and busy for a late Thursday night dinner. Everything was exceptional. The smoked wings were fall off the bone delicious. The brisket was just the right smoke, heat and fattiness. This is a bit off the interstate in the downtown n ewwww area the convention center. Didn't seem to be a lot of other things around which made. parking relatively easy. The hostess seated us quickly but did ask if we had a reservation. There is a full bar when you walk in and then a dining area off to the left with ample seating. They had several local beers on tap which is always a good sign to me. The waitress was friendly and told us that the specialty was more along the Texas bbq style and not the NC style. She was spot on. The brisket was very moist and delicious. The chicken was also moist and well cooked. The pork bbq was not the best that you will find in Eastern NC so go elsewhere if that is all you want. The ribs had a great appearance and texture. The baked beans were really good but the yams were a little undercooked to.my liking. My wife also enjoyed the collards and the cornbread was also very goodThe atmosphere was enjoyable with a very mixed crowd. Most seemed to be local with a few travelers like us.
