It's hard to sum up how amazing of an experience Mac and his team were able to create for our employees during my company's 80-person corporate improv training at The PIT this December. Their improv expertise, coupled with impeccable customer service and precise attention to our unique needs, really was a once-in-a-lifetime experience for a number of our team members. They worked within our budget but sacrificed nothing to ensure we got the training we were hoping for. Mac and his team deserve all the accolades…there really is nothing but praise to say about the planning and execution of our training at The PIT. Superb. More...

I highly recommend attending his workshops, and attending PIT classes in general. Great experience!!! Thank you!!!(In addition, I also love PIT for their Improv Jams and Open Mics, and I highly appreciate the space in general - such a great atmosphere, and everyone is super friendly! Words can not express the memories this place (the PIT) made for my son’s 16th birthday party. We wanted something different. My son loves Broadway and also has autism. Although you do have to provide your own decor/food, I would do it all over again. The staff was amazing from my first phone call. The owners, worked with us to plan out the improv show that my son kindly made himself a part of, lol. The actors were awesome... I highly recommend it!!! Book your next event here!! More...

The new Open Mic on Mondays (downstairs) is one of the few places to go that has a lot of heart n' soul. Poets, Singers, Storytellers, Comedians - all true, real and authentic artists are welcomed with open arms. No "Political Correctness" BS, No herd-like, zombie behavior that makes me want to blow my brains out. THINKING FOR YOURSELF is encouraged and harnessed. The Host, Greg Levine, provides a very encouraging atmosphere for new artists. God bless him.Their trial period may be ending next week - I hope they continue. This place has TONS of potential for growth for people who have been hiding because almost all places are not as welcoming to the "Outsider" whereas this place welcomes and provides us a sense of belonging that has barely existed since the 60s and 70s. I Went For The Open Mic. Will Go Back Just Because It That Gosh Darn Nice. Social Aspect: The layout was beautiful, it was fun, the music was good and the atmosphere left little to be desired than more time to spend there. Rather nice, if I'm allowed to say. The staff was effing awesome. From front to the bar, and from the windows to the walls, it felt like "that spot you become a regular in". I should make a rap music reference here about the Ying Yang Twins, but I digress. Comedy: The open Mic was one of several events that they host and the words "The Quaintest Hole In The Wall" would be beautifully endearing. I am pretty sure that Anne Frank used that place as an AirBnB. And it was lovely. Those telling jokes were rebounding tips off of each other and it felt more like a group of friends sharing a practice space. Sadly, I couldn't spend more time there, but that only means I have more of a reason to return. Additional Points: The place could probably use something, maybe a gladiator's arena where member of the Ocean World can battle it out with knives and Boring Co. flamethrower, but I cant keep using that same idea over and over. I mean, how many lobster knife fights must one witness to feel complete in life? (Answer Pending A Crustaceous Weekend)....4 stars were well-earned, and I can't wait to go back, if only for the atmosphere. More...

I cannot say enough great things about the PIT and their team. We booked a 20 person team building improv session and coming out of it, of all the team building activities that we have done around the city (we do them quarterly), we took more away from this time collectively than any other that we've ever been to. I worked with Mac at PIT to plan the event and he was amazing to work with. Super responsive and always kind and patient in answering all of my many questions! The session leaders were Matt and Jamie and we couldn't have asked for two better people to lead our teams. They asked what we hoped to get out of the class ahead of time and they based the activities on the our needs. We walked away with a deeper understanding of each other and a whole new set of tools to help us communicate with one another. I highly recommend the PIT if you are looking for fun, unique and effective team building! Thank you Mac, Matt and Jamie!! More...

On the day of the workshop, Mac was there to greet us with a warm welcome and also took time to show us around and tell us a little more about the theater. Our Workshop Instructor Dana was high energy, knowledgeable and supportive as we experimented with the different improv activities. We enjoyed being able to express ourselves in ways we don't always let out in the office. It was a great experience, and we would recommend this to other groups! More...

If you are looking for a unique way to throw a special party, then The PIT is just that venue! We decided to throw our daughter's Bat Mitzvah there and we went to the owners with a vision. Well, Beth and her team took our vision and added their own spin to it and we could not have been happier with the outcome and the final result! Beth and her team helped us secure caterers, assisted with specialty cocktails and guided us on decorations. She also helped us with the hiring of the appropriate amount of staff. The front area of the PIT was set up with tables and chairs and was the ideal spot for the food portion of the party. They helped us create a special photo-op, complete with red carpet backdrop, in the hallway leading to the theatre. But turning the theatre into the dance floor, at Beth's suggestion, is what made the party extra special and a day to remember. From start to finish, Beth went above and beyond to make sure that out daughter's very special day, her Bat Mitvzah day, would be memorable... and memorable is certainly and understatement!  It was the BEST DAY EVER! I saw Darkness Falls on Saturday, 4/12. I honestly wasn't sure what to expect, as it was a far cry from the short-form improv I'd seen other places. But it was such an incredible show. The group developed a series of unique, interesting recurring scenes, which built as the show went on. The scenes were thought-provoking and interesting, and pretty dang funny. The performers worked well together, building off each other's performances and taking things to higher and higher levels. It was funny and fascinating, and I didn't want it to end! Will definitely seek them out again! More...

Came here to watch "Celibate and Pregnant." I'm not sure how long the show is running but everyone must go see it! I've never laughed so much. The tickets were really affordable too; I believe around $9. The shows are downstairs and the bar is upstairs. The space is nice and spacious but still intimate with tables in front of the stage and high chairs in the back and on the sides. We ended up getting chairs on the side of the stage but were still able to enjoy the show. It can be a hassle to go back and forth if you want a drink so I recommend getting to the show early and hanging at the bar for a few since there isn't one downstairs. Whiskey sour with Jameson rang me up $11 and the bartender was very friendly. I appreciated that she asked me if I had a whiskey preference rather than just making it with a cheap one. The theater itself is in a great location, close to Baruch, with many restaurants around. Overall great place to watch a show. More...

I celebrated my son's 16th Broadway themed birthday party here just this past weekend. Amazing and worth every penny. From the start of pre arrangements, during the event and after, staff was 1000% courteous, friendly, and on hands, I can keep going. My son said it was the best party ever. The owners, Ali and Beth seemed more like family as well as the staff. I highly recommend the PIT. You have to order your own catering/outside food but I wasn't even upset after getting the service we did. Mac was also amazing and on top of things. He got things done quickly and was there to answer any questions at any time. We are forever grateful and thinking my son may actually sign up for some improv classes ... thank you again to the whole staff/actors who made a forever, sweet, lifetime memory for our family ! I manage a professional networking series called Shapr Connectors Club. We hired the PIT to run a one night improv class for the group. Matt and Jamie were our instructors, and they did an absolutely superb job. As soon as they arrived at the space, which they were seeing for the first time, they quickly worked together to adjust their plans around the strengths of the room and the group, and to come up with fun and easy exercises that got our group moving. Everyone was immediately comfortable and willing to go 150% without any fear of holding back. Through improv, we learned:1. When you hype someone up and support their ideas, they continue to give more.2. If the group succeeds, you succeed. Your peers will do better if you cheer them on. 3. Contribute, and continue to build on a great idea.At the end of the workshop, everyone was raving about the event and feeling so energized. The PIT helped our community to grow and get connected, and it was a pleasure working with them! More...
