This owner is awesome. The food is AMAZING! I had my UberEats order stolen by the UberEats delivery driver and UberEats was of ZERO help to me. I called the restaurant to tell them the order was stolen. UberEats never closed the order and this owner re-made our food and it was delivered anyway! If I could give 6 stars, I would!! Called to order two beef shawarma plates which we've had in the past. We're not informed of any price or menu changes. When we picked up the order, they tried charging us $4. 00 more for EACH plate stating that their prices were changed and no longer the same as online. They honored the original prices when we argued that nothing was mentioned on the phone and the prices needed to reflect current online. Got home to find that the beef was completely different in texture, cook, and taste. Horrible. Food was okay. Place was empty at Friday lunch and I can guess why. I'm half Lebanese but I look like my American mom. I guess that's why, when I admired the lovely inlaid backgammon board on the table as we sat down I got a condescending smirk from the waiter and the unnecessary comment "It's a difficult game" as he removed the board. A. It's not that difficult, I've been playing it since I was five and B. I could probably beat him. So, not cool.<br>Then, I guess on account of my blond hair, there was no pita in the Fatoush "You have to ask for it" the waiter says though it's listed in the salad ingredients in the menu and Fatoush isn't Fatoush without pita.<br>No eggplant. Best Baba Ganoosh (sp) that I have had in many years. I had appetizers of herb cheese stuffed pitas &amp; grapes leaf rolls - both yummy! I ordered the vegetarian sampler, and it was all delicious. This place is open late so it is a nice option for non-fast food after 8 pm. I ordered 2 meals to go. The lamb chops were a small portion but moist &amp; delicious. Never again. We took a large group for Mother's Day. All was fair until the check came and the owner started by saying loudly to the group that we would get a 10% discount if we paid cash and preferred we did so. Ok, this wasn't a $40 check; there were 15 of us! We said no thank and he continued to insist and even told us there was a BofA with an ATM down the street. He also didn't like that we were splitting checks and then changed the story that he only took cash. When we called him out on it he said he does take cards. Ok, if you a cash only establishment- clearly state if up front.  Don't like credit card fees.?.?break them into your cost. Ok, for the ones that keep commenting on how slow it is and how rarely they see more than a few tables dining at a time? Hello it's Duarte. DUARTE. Not DTLA. And a very hard place to have a business in a residential area of Duarte to boot. Many different owners have tried and failed to keep this location going and guess who has done it for years? The patio! :) and here is where my review comes in and it's why we've been here at least two dozen times!<br><br>The food!!! The San bousek is amazing! Best appetizer ever. Hummus is so good! All kabobs are delicious, fish is fresh and tasty, rice is soft and flavorful. The fatoush salad omg. The dressing is right up my alley because it combines two of my favorite flavor combinations, spicy and vinegary. <br><br>The location! Eating outside is always so nice with a view of the mountain range, nice breeze and twin televisions that play music that suits the mood.<br><br>The staff! The owner himself has come out almost every time to check on us and see how we are enjoying our food and service. <br><br>This is a hidden gem in a small town setting do yourself a favor and take advantage of not having to eat at a location that has a wait all the time lol. I have seen many kinds of restaurants come in and out of this building from mexican to indian to Mediterranean. The Patio is my favorite place that had been in that building. I love this place! Their food is delicious! Definitely going back again!! I would 10/10 recommend that you come here to try some authentic Mediterranean food! Everything from the hummus to the actual dinner was tasty. The waiter was also suuppeerr nice and very attentive to what we wanted (a to-go box, a few refills, etc.), I have been coming to this place for about 10+ times now and so far I have no complaints. <br><br>You should definitely come here to try this delicious food!!! I was looking forward to trying their food.  Now that I have, I'm not sure why they have such great reviews. Must be written by people who don't know authentic Mediterranean food. Stopped into this place for a quick snack. As a vegan I was really happy to see how many vegan options there are and that they're clearly labeled. <br><br>Unfortunately the service is terrible. My server hardly spoke two words to me and when I asked for anything such as a doggy bag I got zero confirmation that it was coming my way. He just walked away and came back with a box. <br><br>The building is pretty shabby and I don't believe there was air conditioning. My family and I have been coming her for over 1 year.  We absolutely love this gem!  The waiter is the nicest man and very attentive.  The food is so delicious!  We start off with the cheese plate, my husband and daughter love this.  Then I get the tabboule- my favorite!  Wonderful fresh taste!  We also order the hummus while waiting for our meals.  The chicken is so moist and has such wonderful flavoring.  The last time we were there we swore that was the best chicken we had in our lives.  The rice tastes of butter and my daughter loves that the best!  We get the chicken kebab and lula kebab.<br>We have not tried the other items on the menu yet because we love what we've gotten thus far.<br>The patio is a nice area to sit out during warm evenings and when it is cold the waiter will turn the heaters on for you.  I hope this place gets their liquor license soon.  It would be nice to enjoy a glass of wine on the patio. Really don't understand how this place has a 4 star, went in to pickup my takeout, I was told my total for a feast was $23. 00, then I get there and am told that it's for a two person minimum charge meaning it's double because it's charged per person. Then they call the owner since there's a problem with the grub hub(which has nothing to do with my fault), then instead of giving the customer(me) my food, the guy says you can either have your money back or pay for another, so of course I got my money back, but in the end they wasted a bunch of food. Work on management and customer service, you might just make it. Oh, this was my first time going and obviously my last. Wasted 45 minutes of time. And don't complain saying it's a grub hub mistake, as an owner you should know the menu on grub hub, you're partnered with them so it's your responsibility to know, and if you can't keep up then maybe you shouldn't be partnered with grub hub or Uber eats. But in my opinion a one star is reasonable, I would've given a 0 star if that was possible. More...
