Seafood is good and so is the wine. I need to take one star away though, because it was cramped! I had to walk through the kitchen to get to the bathroom. My date, who sat across from me, kept stepping on my brand new heels! he couldn't move his chair back any further against the other patrons at their table and my chair was at its limit against a wall. This place is great.  Awesome food. Fresh ingredients.  But it's moving!  To a larger spot. Yay!  Lots of gluten free options as well.

My favorite restaurant. I've been going here for 20 years. Food is delicious! They are now expanding and will move soon into larger space on Santa Cruz Ave.

Came here for our anniversary dinner, made a reservation 2hrs before at 5pm (at 5.30 there was a line outside the door). A cute and quaint restaurant in downtown Los Gatos, we were pleasantly surprised by the service and quality of food. Dinner includes fresh Ciabatta bread with Balsamic Vinger/Olive Oil dip. The pasta was one of the freshest we have had - and had plenty of pescatarian, vegetarian, and meat options, so everyone is happy! The highlight of the evening was the Porcino and Mushroom Agnolotti which had plenty of mushrooms and a divine decadent sauce. We really loved this, and the sauce was enough for me to steal some for my pasta dish. I ordered the Primadonna, but wasn't too impressed with it. The ENTIRE taste came from garlic, I was told there was light sauce. Not sure what "sauce" referred to. There was so much garlic that it overpowered the other ingredients. As it was a date night I chose not to finish a lot of it because of the garlic (ahem). The shrimps were nicely seasoned but a bit over cooked (hard). Next time I won't be ordering this, and it's the reason for one star off. More...

Great Italian Pasta restaurant.  My favorite in the Bay Area.  Wonderful service, quaint atmosphere, and Los Gatos is the cutest town ever.  Great area to take a walk after dinner.   My favorite dish is the walnut pesto dish with a side of meatballs, plus you must order the cheese bread - YUM!  Check it out ;))) More...

Great local joint not to be missed just because it isn't in the heard of downtown Los Gatos. We met up for a double date with friends on a Saturday night. We started off with a bit of a mix up where each couple thought the other made reservations. We verified that we definitely did not have reservations and the owner (?) or maybe manager had a chuckle with us and managed to squeeze us in even though it was getting busy. The restaurant is small on the inside so I recommend making reservations. It's also kind of hot because the kitchen is pretty open and you can see a big stone pizza oven. Our server described the specials to us and I was enticed by the Angel Hair Carbonara. He mentioned all of the ingredients except that there were green peas in it which I loathe. Luckily they weren't too mixed in so I was able to pick out each and every single one haha. I think they were cooked well, they're just not for me. The rest of the carbonara was delicious though. I heard rave reviews about the gnocchi which I got to try a bit of but I just like carbonara type flavors better, so I suggest getting that if you're lucky enough that it's featured on the menu that night. Oof this place serves up some fresh pasta and flavorful sauce! I made a reservation around 7, got immediately seated and we were served super soft bread! The Arriabata sauce was so flavorful (has meat), and the walnut pesto pasta was so fresh! The hand-cut noodles alongside the fresh pesto, was so yummy. I hate going to places just to see that there pesto is clearly from Costco, or a store-bought pesto, but here they do it right! I would honestly come here more often, but its a little expensive for my taste, but in LG what else would I expect for a nice Italian restaurant.. a great place for a date night though! More...

Hands down the best Italian food in the South Bay. The food is just delicious! Tiny restaurant, so make sure you have a reservation. Their chicken & prosciutto tortellini w/white wine sauce is my absolute favorite! I was reading others comments about delicious food but poor service and we have never experienced poor service. It is a small restaurant, so I think our expectations are as such. The food is amazing! More...

I frequent this restaurant solely for its Arrabbiata pasta. Something I learned from a friend who is another big fan of this place is that you can ask to substitute for different pastas. Therefore, my vote for best dish goes to the Arrabbiata pasta with LINGUINE. Favorite appetizer is the roasted brie & garlic, but be careful and remember to save room for the pasta! Would recommend making a reservation (even on weekdays) because the TINY restaurant is always packed. Parking lot itself is also really small, but there is plenty of street parking nearby. -1 star because the service is hit or miss. More...

After looking at the menu and reading the reviews, I wanted to try The Pastaria and Market. I reserved shortly after 4 because I wanted to be in time for my 5 p. m. reservation, as we had to drive 9 miles. Driving up and down Main Street, we could not see signage. Driving in the side street, we thought the shabby building cannot be it. Finally, we secured a spot in front of 49 Main Street. I confirmed that this was the restaurant after I alit from the car to read the 9x11 sheets on the window. We were well in time for our 5 p.m. reservation. I was asked if I had a reservation. I was met by disbelief. After standing for longer than I hoped for, the employee found my reservation. She told me I should have scrolled down and checked a box; yet, when I got home, I had a confirmation and a printout, well before I met her.. TRUST your customers. The hostess then crammed us in the dunce-cap table. Not having enough room, I asked for a window table (the tables were empty) to which she acceded. RESPECT your customers, especially older ones. The positive: we loved our food--I had the Walnut Pesto Linguine; my husband, spaghetti with meat sauce. The crispy, hot-baked bread was a delicious addition. In a nutshell, great food; customer service NEEDS improvement. And greet your customers with smiles! More...

I rarely give 5 stars since you should reserve them for exceptionally unique experiences so do not take that as a negative. ... this place is a very respectable 4 stars and would be tempted to do 5. The place is small but the feel of a home restaurant which I like. It is not too loud either. Prices are fair but they also will waive corkage for each bottle you buy which I find reflecting an attitude of making the customer happy. My whole experience reflected that attitude actually. The service was excellent and personal. The dishes were very rich and flavorful. We did not leave hungry even as we did not have appetizers. This place has an excellent blend of all the things I like in a restaurant that I will return to. More...

My boyfriend and I went here for the first time for our 6 year anniversary because my brother's girlfriend recommended it. Safe to say I'm so glad she did! The Pastaria & Market is such a cute and cozy little restaurant that truly makes you feel at home. The staff is super friendly as well. They gave us complimentary champagne for our special night! Our waitress, Kim, was very sweet. She got our order perfectly, and she didn't even write it down! That's something I've never seen before. So to start, we got the complimentary bread with and olive oil and basaltic vinegar dip. So delicious! The bread was fresh and baked to perfection. After that, we ordered the Brie and bread with roasted Gilroy garlic (my brother's recommendation) and OH MY GOODNESS. It. Was. AMAZING. That is a MUST when you go, especially if you're a first timer! The Brie was so smooth and creamy, the garlic cloves were so soft they could spread like butter. Put it together with their delicious bread and you got yourself the perfect appetizer. For dinner, I got the fettuccine Alfredo (picture attached) and my boyfriend got the meat ravioli with marinara. I've never had homemade noodles and pasta sauce before and wow, store bought will never be the same again! The sauce was so rich and creamy and the noodles were the perfect texture. Everything was absolutely perfect. I couldn't have asked for anything better! If you're looking for a local place that has amazing staff and delicious food, The Pastaria & Market is the place to go! I HIGHLY suggest making a reservation a couple of days beforehand, unless you don't mind waiting for hours. It fills up fast, especially because it's a small hole-in-the-wall space. My boyfriend and I already decided this is our go to spot for every anniversary from now on.We'll be back more than once a year though, that's for sure! More...

I ve been dining in Los Gatos for a number of years and never even knew about this place. What a cute and lovely find this was for us. We ordered as an appetizer their brie & fresh bread. The brie came out in a little black pan with sizzling roasted garlic. The bread was fresh out of the oven. All their pasta is made fresh. Really does make a big difference. They had so many types of pasta and sauces to choose from. We all ordered something different so that we could share and get a real good taste for several dishes. I love love love the Pastaria. I remember when it first opened, replacing a very ordinary not very tasty restaurant, and I was so happy to try it and find that it has a very unique atmosphere, wonderful food, and reasonable prices. My favorite has always been the penne with vodka sauce, pine nuts, feta, and sundried tomatoes, but the lasagna, putanesca, seafood linguini, and bolognese are all to die for. The baked brie and steamed artichokes are great to start, and the house salad has the best vinaigrette on it I've ever tasted. They bring out homemade, warm bread while you wait and have good wines. Its a little crazy here thurs-sat, but they take reservations, so make one! Profiteroles for dessert = heaven after a delicious meal! Best Italian, for the best price. This is our favorite Italian restaurant! Even when we were in Italy, we longed for the food at Pastaria (I'm ashamed to admit it but it's true). The baked brie is a must (with delicious hot ciabatta bread). Some favorites are the pasta puttanesca (even if you don't like anchovies, the tomato sauce is rich and perfect), aglio e olio (simple but tasty - portion is small so keep in mind if you're a big eater), chicken parmesan, penne with seafood, many more! Ambience is nice and friendly, totally relaxed and unpretentious. Only downside is that it's small and popular so sometimes even with a reservation, you might have to wait. Just get a glass of wine and enjoy the Los Gatos summer from the camping chairs set up outside! More...
