Down home cooking in a down home setting, food comes out fresh and hot, service is as sweet as the pie they serve, NO ONE was on their cell phones (likely because the crowd was too elderly to know how to properly use one haha), tables were mostly single diners like myself taking advantage of the amazing plate lunch deal. .. just under ten bucks including tax and dessert! Seniors pay only $6.49!! Portions were super generous and the banana pudding the freshest I have ever tasted. I was greeted right away and asked if I preferred a table or booth. Bathrooms were sparkling clean and well stocked. The chicken fried steak was fork tender and well seasoned but my favorite thing was the turnip greens which were cooked with a delicious mix of bacon and onions. Gotta love the South for sticking pig fat in just about everything. Gravy was creamy and plentiful. I love that the hot yeast rolls came with a honey spread! My only real disappointment was that the coffee came with non dairy creamer instead of half and half. I took a slice of blackberry pie to go and took a peek into the box and was floored by the gigantic berries in it. It was mostly fruit and not canned pie filling. Nice country atmosphere and good attentive service. The food was pretty good, but I would of liked to see homemade dressings, homemade croutons and maybe a homemade bread selection. I ordered the fajita chicken salad which i took a risk on since this is more of a country cooking type of place, but I was pleasantly surprised at how much I liked it. No dressing needed! We first visited Neal's before the reboot. Mr. Neal himself is a pretty interesting character. But we found the food bland and did not go back. I just tried it again for lunch recently--had one of their specials on the board, a fried pork steak with sides and dessert included. Got grilled zucchini and mashed potatoes for the sides.The service was first-rate throughout--polite and attentive. The restaurant was pretty empty but I've eaten in empty places before and not gotten good service so I don't take it for granted. The fried pork steak is really chicken fried pork loin, served with cream gravy. And it's quite good, nice and tender with a very crunchy, flavorful outside. There's enough seasoning in the gravy and breading to notice--mostly salt, but that's fine. I would order chicken fried steak here.The zucchini was OK, it had some seasoning and a little texture left. The mashed potatoes were interesting. They are real (I asked), but they are so smooth that they eat like a good box mix. So if you like box mix (and I know some people do) then you would be OK with these real ones too. I ate them but would probably get something else.For dessert I had the banana pudding, and it was a very good finish--sliced bananas and a cookie (not a nilla wafer, something else) all together. Everything is served at once (even though the waiter was attentive and refilled my drink twice), but the bowl kept the pudding from warming up too much.This puts it back on my list as a place to think about. If a group wanted this kind of food I would suggest Neal's over Cotton Patch, even though they don't have chicken fried bacon. More...

Really decent meal for a great price. We all ordered from their menu of specials for the day. I ordered cajun tilapia with mashed potatoes and broccoli. I was very happy with my meal. It came with dessert, so peach cobbler was the winner. It was a little dry but it had a great taste nonetheless.The place was pretty empty and service was excellent. The food was good. I got the chicken, bacon, ranch sandwich with coleslaw and the potatoes. The sandwich was huge and delicious. I would definitely be back to get it again. The coleslaw, not so good. Had my son and niece's graduation party here. Judy and Ashley helped with everything from setting up decorations to keeping food and drinks flowing for our party of nearly 50. I have been to this place many, many times. A year or so ago, it closed for several months. After it reopened, the food was a thousand percent better! ! This is the only place in the area where I can order a chicken fried steak and cut it with my fork. It is tender and flavorful. We also love their banana pudding. Get the big size for dessert. So good! Of course I tried the soup of the day which was broccoli cheese, it was good. Had the chicken fried steak , mashed potatoes and Mac and cheese. The Mac and cheese needed to have a thicker sauce but was still delicious! Chicken fried steak was perfect. And for some reason the Dr Pepper tasted so good lol! Can these folks make some good food! I’m sorry to say we passed this place by for many years before we got sick of the same old same old and decided to try something new. Went there last Thursday and I got the rib eye and their steak put many expensive steak joints to shame. My wife got chicken fried steak and it melted in her mouth. After such a pleasant experience we came back soon (4 days later!) with kids in tow. The kids were happy with their delicious cheese burgers and fries-- I couldn't resist the steak for a second time around. My wife got grilled chicken and she was not disappointed-again it was tender and well seasoned. We are happy to have a new spot to add to our regular list! Great job guys! Food and service is great!
