Great food, great service, good selection of beers and wine. -1 star for my Manhattan which was obviously watered down. You could tell by looking at it. I would definitely go back for the food but will order beer next time. More...

The reviews don't lie.I have been here for a Christmas party with buffet style food, which was very good. Came again this past weekend to get some seafood and sit outside. Was NOT disappointment. I had the New England clambake, lobster, steamers, mashed potatoes, veggies and cup of chowder, all extremely good for a very reasonable price. The better half had the baked haddock which was also very very good. Nice Patio, Good service. Can't wait to return. More...

Lamie's Inn and the Old Salt Restaurant is a long-winded name for a hotel that is, in fact, long-winded. Built in 1740 as a tavern with "rooms" for townie drunks who were likely too sloshed to make it home to their wives, the place has remained largely the same attraction for the last two centuries. Perhaps we can subtract some of the local stumble-up drunk traffic and replace the patrons with leaf-peeping New Jersey retirees looking for a safe stay at a New England Bed and Breakfast. .Let's start by providing this review with a potent sensory experience and think of what a place called Lamie's Inn and the Old Salt Restaurant smells like. Why don't we start with that Old Salt Restaurant part of the title?I'll give you three seconds to take that scent in... Now close your eyes.Yup. You guessed it. The place smells like fried fish and beer. The beer-battered fish selections, by the way, are good, and the beer-battered beer is better. I had some kind of New England Brown Ale that made me forget I had opposable thumbs that night and fell asleep with my clothes still on, and for that, I thank you, Mr. Lamie. You did your job well. The Lamie's Inn part of the title is also pretty spot-on in the olfactory sense. Potpourri and stale perfume from centuries of odd cleaning practices and perfumed poltergeists add a nice little memoire parfumee to your evening. That'll help you, of course, forget that the comforter still smells like your Auntie Georgina's gum diseased breath, and that bathtub might be where a thirteen year old finally succumbed to polio or some other antiquated disease you can now cure by eating a healthy diet of blue cheese.  Like most places that pride themselves on age, the hotel is festooned with every decor and feature to make white people utter the word "quaint" sixteen seconds after entering the door. The green carpeted floors up the mandatory staircase to the guest rooms creak. The tavern features oars and fishing paraphernalia on the walls. They even put whole candy bars in mason jars at the front door because, hell, who doesn't want to eat an entire Reese's Peanut Butter Cup as you're checking into a hotel. You know I do.The door to your room can be opened with a metal key- and for posterity's sake, there's a hand-knocker above that could turn into Jacob Marley's grizzled mien at any moment. I worried deeply during my drunken stupor back to the room that I'd be tempted to knock-knock ditch on my neighbors but resisted the urge.Unluckily for me, this act of good faith did not stop my neighbors from knock-knocking on the wall behind me. Did I mention swingers patronize this hotel? They do. A real, honest-to-god foursome wife-swap took place next to my room. I can only imagine the sheer horror of the scene, but can attest to the sounds that four middle aged adults on a king-sized mattress can make. The night was abound with odd curse combinations, deep-smoker's coughs, silly laughter, and a few cries for "Daddy" to do something terrible to a place that should not be open for business on a Tuesday night before dinner time.  Though the swingers may have ruined my appetite, I can't help but think they're a fitting new addition to a place that likely shared the likes of lodging poets, fisherman, despots, prostitutes, and presidential candidates alike. It was a spot where Dwight D. Eisenhauer and his wife stayed on the campaign trail, and where Grace Metallous purportedly wrote sections of Peyton Place as a real feminist barn-burner before Hollywood adapted the novel into an awful soap opera. It was a place of blue-collar workers and local townies trying to get laid, and it still is all these years later. The drinks and lodging are still relatively cheap. Sure, some old New York broker can order and complain about the color of his $25 steak, but there are a lot of cheaper options on the menu for the regulars, and these are of course better than any of the expensive options. For the most part, the locals continue to win. They've kept the place pleasant and mildly shitty. The wifi didn't work in the guestrooms, nor should it have. The shower burned my ass when my next door neighbor flushed his condoms down the toilet, and I wasn't angry at all.I came to Lamie's on business and spent the bulk of my time answering emails on my phone and lying awake dreading the following day of work. The next morning, I ate the delicious continental breakfast laid out in a dark corner of the restaurant. It was just past seven, and I ate alone on a spindly antique chair enjoying the fresh fruit and the homemade chocolate coffee cake. A light classical CD played above in the lounge, and I felt gutted by the work and ill-rested. Though I needed a place to stay later, I chose a generic hotel: one with better wifi and plugs in the room. Lamie's, after all, wasn't made for the likes of me. And I hope it never will. More...

Awesome girls night out! We went on a Friday night and even though the parking lot (and the bar) were packed, they had all of the dining rooms open, so we did not have to wait for a table. The lobster salad was to die for, and my friends loved the rolls with maple butter. The food at other tables also looked great. The waitress was *extremely* friendly (we felt kind of mothered, in a good way), and the service was attentive without being rushed. The manager actually went around to each table to see how everyone was doing---again, we felt really cared for. People at the other tables were also praising their food. There was a small birthday party of older women at one table, and their waiter took their photo several times. We saw one party hug our waitress when they left. It was a great experience all around. We didn't feel rushed, and the prices were fair for the quality and quantity received. When we left, there was live music in the bar. We'll be back! More...

Was in the mood for Clams Casino and had a free afternoon with Mom so off we headed for some errands in the area and thought we would get some food & drinks. .. Came to Yelp, threw in Clams and we found this place. So we get there & the place is Old and Charming and just full of Quaint Charm, I have driven by this place EVERY weekend for the past 5 years as I do my shopping in the area (I will drive anywhere to avoid Boston Grocery Shopping each weekend).  We were seated immediately and our waitress came over who clearly in her day was a looker, she was gorgeous and I wanted to ask her to sit down & tell me her life stories, we ordered some drinks, some apps and just took in the place.Food came, the Clams were tiny and Im sure in season will be better (I hope, because Im coming back)  Drinks were GOOD, we should not have had more but we did, Ssshhh... Dont tell! OMG Maple must be the thing here, the Maple butter with the bread was good enough to want to bathe in it!  The Scallops were good and then we shared a Fisherman's platter that was big enough for a few Fishermen! Will definitely be back, Maybe even this weekend, the kids menu even had tons of options so they will be able to eat too! Cant wait to come back and when in the area stop in! There is also a hotel attached so if we had more drinks we could have gotten a room instead! LOL More...

Amazing brunch. Let me say this place is super nice. Classy, and I am a "cheap eats" type of guy. So this is not my typical review. But, my girlfriend suggested we try the brunch one morning while we visiting Hampton off season.it was the best breakfast buffet I have ever seen.  I never review based on one experience. We brought my mother back for holiday treat the Sunday before New Year's. Again the selection was amazing. All the breakfast stuff, then ribs, teriyaki wings, delicious DELICIOUS, lobster-stuff baked haddock- then there's a carving station with roast beef, turkey and ham - then there's an omelette station - with anything you could want on an omelette - wedge between the omelette and carving station - there was  a pot of yummy clam chowder - on top of all this there was desserts- AND a chocolate fountain with strawberries, bananas and pineapple and more - not that we had any room for dessert. I can't say enough good things about my dinner last Saturday night!  My server Tammy set the tone for an awesome solo dinner while I was traveling for my business.  I took my seat in a cozy roomy booth in the main room which had an old tavern like feel...very warm, welcoming, homey.  The pumpkin beer I ordered arrived frosty cold, even better, with a cinnamon sugar rim.  Tammy also brought warm rolls served with maple butter...yum.  It was a rough last few work weeks, so I treated myself to stuffed lobster..for $18.99!  It came with your choice of starch, I went with a baked potato and sour cream.  What a surprise when it was accompanied with a serving of delicious butternut squash...heavenly!  I was too full from dinner, it was so delicious I ate the whole thing (lol) but the warm gingerbread with pumpkin ice cream for dessert sounded soooo good.  Tammy went back to the chef and asked if she could discount some gingerbread cake to go, no ice cream, because I was staying in a motel 15 minutes away. So when I got back I had a little, and finished the rest with coffee in the AM.  The food, service, atmosphere...I loved it all.  Thank you Old Salt for such an enjoyable night out! More...
