Really adorable and locally owned vintage and antique shop. There is a small but nice selection of clothing, and a larger selection of antique and vintage style home decor, trinkets, and more. There was lawn chairs from the 70s, men's classic flannels, 80s plastic lunch boxes, and so much more. The sales gal Cassie was pleasant and friendly. She chatted and answered questions with a genuine smile. We didn't find anything on this visit but I would check it it again to see what other fun things I could find. More...

First time visit to this vintage and thrift type store. Found some prices to be a bit high on the used clothing and old nonfunctional camera equipment. Otherwise, I found some nice old pyrex bowls and an antique bottle in excellent condition that I took home. Good place to find something odd and kitschy. More...

She really has amazing taste and it is such a delight to shop there and experience all of the nostalgia! Tessa specializes in Mid Century but has a large variety of inventory from different time periods as well. There is really something unique for everyone. I visit my friends in Reno a couple times a year, and every time I'm there, I drive by this cute store... Finally had a chance to walk in on my last visit, and I wished I had done so sooner. The best vintage/antique shop I have ever been in. They have a big selection of vintage clothing, but there's none of that musty, junky, oh-my-god-yikes kind of feel. All clean and super-organized. I found a bunch of clothes I said "wow" to, and so did my girlfriends. The price is amazing. Lots of cute vintage furniture. If I lived in Reno, I'd definitely buy chests and chairs here. Cute, tasteful jewelry. Great for gifts. Amazing selection of paintings. Like being in an art gallery. All those antique glass door nobs and pulls that are making me want to do some DYI projects.I was lucky enough to find a beautiful hand-tooled leather bag in a quarter of the price if I were to find it elsewhere, especially in Bay Area. I got some vintage ethnic fabrics too, and I am rekindling my sewing bug with them. Some review said that "they are overpriced." NO. The Nest is easily 1/3 of the price range compared to anywhere in Bay Area, and even still lower compared to the other antique stores in Reno. And, the selection is way better. The owner is also incredibly charming. Writing this review is making me want to drive to Reno today! More...

Way more impressed with the antique side than the clothes but that's not to say the clothes area was bad it was just that the antique side was awesome! There were some very cool finds in here. The only reason I docked a star was because it's more of a high end vintage store so the prices are a bit high for some common items. They were NOT unreasonable they just weren't what I was expecting. They only buy local and stock local products and support local business owners and this was awesome to see. Personally, I like the thrill of finding the hidden treasure buried among the junk at thrift stores. But sometimes you don't want to dig through the piles of crap to find the good stuff -- you just want to wander through a nicely curated and displayed selection of vintage clothes and home furnishings. That's what the Nest is for! When you walk in, the larger front room is devoted to (mostly midcentury) furniture and housewares. You'll find dining sets, couches, and living room furniture displaying cute sets of vintage barware and decor. Again, because I'm a cheap thrifter, the prices are on the high side for me, but you're paying for the curation and for items that are generally in pretty good condition. The side room is dedicated to men's and women's clothing, shoes, and accessories. The clothing selection tends toward the costumey, and some items are presented as vintage but are clearly modern, so take it with a grain of salt. They do have a good selection of men's clothes and shoes, which isn't always the case at vintage stores, so there's plenty for guys to look through, too. If you like scarves, gloves, and women's hats, they have a big selection at fairly reasonable prices. Service was... well, pretty much nonexistent. There was a guy in the back behind the register when we came in, but he didn't greet us and ignored us the entire time we were shopping, even when we were browsing the furniture around the register. For the most part, I like being left to poke around on my own, but it's a bit weird when you're the only customers in the place and you're completely ignored. The Nest is a fun place to browse through, especially if you're into midcentury decor and looking for inspiration. I didn't find anything to buy, but collectors of vintage glassware and Pyrex will find lots to check out here! More...

Can't believe I've never reviewed The Nest.  Nor have I checked in often.  The Nest is located on the corner of 2nd and Keystone.  It's a Junkers (antique lover if you're fancy) paradise! Vintage clothing and accessories.   Antique furniture at reasonable prices-- heavy on mid-century modern on my last visit. All those things you grew up with from solo cups to advertising signs to the toys your mother threw out  The Nest has it all!  The staff is always very friendly and helpful.  They don't take consignment or rent space to outside vendors.  The store is stocked solely with their own finds. Yelpers get a discounts with checkin.....too bad I left my phone in the car! The Nest is amazing for anyone looking for mid-century modern/retro furniture, dishware, clothes, or anything else. I spent months looking for a record stand for my house. I came to the Nest and immediately found a Danish modern buffet that was perfect for my purposes. It was in great condition and the price was low. The owner (Tessa) delivered the buffet to my apartment and helped get it up a flight of stairs with no problems. She was really friendly and helpful. She even offered to keep her eye out for other pieces of furniture if there was anything specific I was looking for.Tessa clearly has a good eye because the store is absolutely full of cool stuff. The selection is really wide, but it feels curated so you're only looking through good-quality, awesome stuff. Again, the prices are good. There was a vintage metal desk when I was there that was only priced at $125, when it could easily go for $500 or more, given the quality. Made my final trip to The Nest today, well, perhaps penultimate if I find some cash burning a hole in my pocket within the next few days; before skipping town for ATX. This store has truly been a nesting place for me, it's where I went to pick out a special thing when something special was about to happen. A dress for turning 22. Clogs for becoming a practical, grown-up woman. And, now, a sun hat for moving to the South! There's less to pick through here than at Junkee and the various thrift stores in Reno, and the prices are higher, but that encourages me to think carefully about what my wardrobe needs rather than thoughtlessly load my arms with half a dozen $3 tops. Keeping the selection limited to one-of-a-kind pieces (with prices that reflect their uniqueness) is also a helpful reminder of the work by real, human people that the clothing industry depends on. For me, it starts with "Someone had to do all of that embroidery by hand!" and ends with "Oh yea, someone had to sew all of those jeans for H&M..." You're not guaranteed to feel great after a session of retail therapy, but I think the odds are higher when you choose The Nest, because you'll be more mindful of how much you have to spend, what you're willing to spend on (Ask: "What does an 'investment piece' mean to me?"), and where your money goes once it leaves your pocket (back into the local economy, yay!) What a great store The Nest is.  We just moved to Reno and have been using a card table in our condo's dining area (our old table was way too big). I thought it would be an easy task to find a Danish style drop leaf table but was very much mistaken! Finally, on a late Sunday afternoon, I called The Nest and spoke with Tessa; she said she thought she might have something I was interested in, and in fact she had two identical tables. We went in and, voilà, the table(s) were perfect and a great price. At first we were only going to purchase one but they folded up so nicely that I thought we might later regret it so we bought both!  Loved the store, the cool items and the energy. Every once in a while you meet someone whose passion is so infectious, you can't help but be inspired by them. Tessa Miller is one of these people in our community, and I'm so glad to have met her this week! Tessa has a ton of positive energy, warmth, dedication, and a smile that you can easily see from a mile away. Once you walk into The Nest, you'll know exactly what I'm talking about. The Nest is a reflection of Tessa, her undeniable sense of style, and the 9 years she's spent curating and collecting vintage and antique fashions. Her talent for merchandising is UNDENIABLE, and she has basically created mini period vignettes throughout the store that draw you in to examine every detail.   Everywhere you turn you're going to find something you either must have, or share with a friend. For example, I literally bumped right into an antique bar, complete with a china hutch filled with vintage glassware. On top was a retro set of cocktail glasses I kinda wanted, and inside the hutch was a set of highball glasses with sporting dogs on them ($29 for a set of 6...SO REASONABLE). One of them had a Chesapeake Bay Retriever with a duck in its mouth that looked just like my buddy's duck dog, Smoke. A few clicks and text later, and Jon just found a Christmas present for himself. Around another corner I found a huge selection of shoes and boots, and Ashley just so happens to be in the market for a cool pair of the cowboy variety. Now we're both planning to head back this weekend! Now we've all been to that vintage/antique store that has absolutely everything marked way through the roof, and thankfully, The Nest is not that! The prices here are very affordable, and while I know this is a business, they make me truly think that Tessa does this as a way to share her passion with all of us in the hopes that we'll discover the same magic she has, in each piece in the store. Her endless amounts of creativity, and insatiable desire to uncover the next great find, means this is the kind of place that is never the same from visit to visit, and that is just fantastic. It's a great place to shop (I'm heading in to see if I can find some cool clothes and maybe even a belt buckle) or just browse, and if there's something you've been seeking, just ask! Tessa is happy to hunt it down for you. Go check out The Nest. I can't wait to hear what you found! More...
