The Mermaid Cafe

We recently had a large family dinner to celebrate my parents’ 50th wedding anniversary. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The food was excellent. The manager, Matt Taylor, was very accommodating and responded to all of my emails quickly. We really had a great experience and would recommend the Mermaid Cafe to anyone. I ordered take out from the Mermaid tonight and was very disappointed in the service. We ordered the special which included a ribeye. It was ordered medium rare. When I got home and opened the box it was rare. Not even close. The outside of the steak was grey and didn’t even have grill marks or seasoning. I called the restaurant and they said just bring it back and they would give me a refund. I thought that was awesome. I was a happy customer. When we got back to the Mermaid my daughter took the steak in for me. The owner/manager, Matt Taylor, told my daughter, “the steak is fully cooked but if it’s not up to your standards that’s ok” very sarcastically. We live in Lake Caroline. I’m so disappointed. I called to speak to the manager (Matt) but he was too busy to take a two minute break to talk to a customer that just spent over 100 dollars in his restaurant. Horrible. No matter how stressed you are on a ‘busy night’ you don’t tell a customer they are wrong (especially when they’re not wrong). There is no excuse for his rudeness. More...
