This is a review of the museum, not the food. It is one of my favorite places to go in DC and no matter how many times I go I discover something new. There are endless rooms to explore and trying to find all of the hidden doors is so much fun. It is offbeat and quirky and I love seeing people's faces when I take them here for the first time. I highly reccomend visiting here! More...

After searching for a fun and interactive activity for my group of friends, I came across this fun adventure. The booking process was extremely easy and the staff was beyond amazing. We spent a total of 4 hours touring the home, finding hidden doors, and experiencing the rich history this museum offers. I plan to book a room in the future (as a staycasion) to continue to explore and immerse myself into the true art that this place is.Highly recommend! More...

We had our non-profits holiday party there over the weekend, and it was an absolute blast. It's been called the "coolest place in DC" for a reason, and did not disappoint, even for a crowd with very high expectations. Loved the secret doors, rooms filed with memorabilia, and feel of uniqueness nowhere else in DC. Highly recommend for a party, tour, and anything else in between. More...

I took my family for the Thanksgiving holiday and spent a few nights in a suite. A lot of fun, hidden treasures (over 80 hidden doors!), and the Thanksgiving meal was 10/10 great! I imagine it would be lots of fun for a brief trip, too, maybe spend a few hours exploring. And everything there is for sale, things ranging from signed guitars, original movie manuscripts, to old first edition books. Super fun. Would recommend! More...

Strange museum filled with "secret doors" that was a pretty fun time. We tried exploring the whole place and got through it in an hour and a half or so. Felt more like an oversized gift shop since everything in that building is for sale and oh boy is stuff expensive. Feels like an eclectic millionaire's home. Almost all the rooms are available to be stayed in as it is a functioning hotel as well. Definitely very weird and worth a visit. More...

If you have visitors, this should be your go-to spot! This eclectic mansion is WAY deeper than you can see from the street. Upon entering, you are transported into a wondrous vision of a castle packed with all kinds of rare collectibles and artifacts of times past! I came here with my supervisor as we were scoping out places to have our holiday party and this was definitely a contender. They have many celebrities frequent the place and they have great staff to cater to them. You can even stay here as a guest or participate in a scavenger hunt (believe me, after seeing the place, you'll want to play). It definitely is pricy but I believe it to be worthwhile. More...

I took the self-guided tour for $25. Kinda pricey, so I was determined to find the most doors I could. This place is a combination of thrift shop, museum, and funhouse. There are so many knick knacks to look through that you could spend hours here. If you see something you like with a price tag, you can buy it.Some of the rooms are closed because people actually stay in the rooms. Honestly I would be scared because you're surrounded by so many things, which are kind of creepy. Ok, I'm really afraid of ghosts. A lot of the bathrooms still look like '80s luxury chic, though most of the metal plumbing has been upgraded. I ended up finding 8 doors, two of which I couldn't open (posted signs said do not open). The staff is very nice. There's a coat check in the bar area. The pinball machines all work as well. Make sure you bring quarters or you'll have to find a staff member to get change. More...

So it is a little hard to describe the mansion on o street. You can take a tour, self-guided, in which you can wander through dozens and dozens of rooms in the 3 (or4) Combined townhouses. Nice architectural details. More “stuff” in each room than you can imagine. Guitars, lots of books, jewelry, furniture, pinball machines, nearly anything you can imagine. Dozens of hidden doors connecting rooms and many rooms have themes (log cabin, etc). Both were much better than what we anticipated. The place is a quaint little mansion which serves as a hotel and show place and corporate retreat and gift shop and treasure hunt and museum all combined. The person behind this extraordinary creation H (H.H. Leonards) still does the introduction and after 40 years still retains the breathless enthusiasm for it that she probably did when she bought it in 1980. The magic show had only 20 audiences and we were anticipating an amateur show. But Bloch was not kidding when he advertised himself as a “master magician”. He has a dry, self-deprecating sense of humor, some really great tricks (which mostly involved audiences) and made himself really approachable. We had a wonderful time roaming the mansion, discovering secret doors, talking to other people and checking out the interesting mixture of dated and contemporary accruements in the mansion. My relatives were in town visiting from TX and while they had already seen all the monuments, museums, and other historical treasures of DC, I still wanted to do something unique and fun in the city. The Mansion on O Street was perfect!! It's not the typical example of a museum or mansion that would come to your mind but if you want something that everyone can do together and laugh about afterwards try The Mansion on O Street! Yes, the rooms are crowded with anything and everything and most of the time you have no idea where you are but that adds to the fun! Good luck finding the hidden doors because that's not an easy task but if you want a wholesome adventure for the whole family while supporting artists I think this experience will be one for the books. It definitely was with our family! As a side note, I personally wouldn't be comfortable staying in the guest rooms; too much clutter and the fact that so many people had walked through my hotel room all day long wouldn't thrill me. We brought 3 teenagers (19, 17, 14) and an 8 year old, along with several adults, to have breakfast and find hidden doors. Hours later, we had to force the kids to leave as we had a 2 p.m. water taxi reservation. They found upwards of 20 hidden doors, many of which led to hidden passageways and other parts of the house, including the very cool wine cellar. They played pinball and left notes in hidden nooks and ate chocolate bread and just had a spectacular time. The owners were incredibly gracious and informative and lead such an interesting life! On our way out, we bumped into Ted Koppel, and my 8 year old shot a short video describing how much fun he had. Days later, all the kids agree it was the highlight of the trip and are still talking about it. It is a rare thing to see teenagers that engaged and excited. We would say this is a do not miss in D.C., and we loved going early in the day when not too many other people were around. I expect going at night for magic and cocktails, with adults, would be a lot of fun, too. Thank you, H.H. & Ted! More...
