I really enjoyed watching the virtual Magic Duel, live from the comfort and safety of my own home. The magic was done so well and literally right before my eyes.
There’s no where to hide! Some of the magic tricks were literally astounding. You can pay to just watch or pay a little more to be a participant. I chose to participate and so did my friends, which made it more entertaining.
Ryan and Mark have a fun relationship and their banter was silly. I will definitely go see them when they return to the theater, but until then, I think this is a fun way to have a virtual party with friends or just a nice change from more Netflix.

How long have you been interested in magic?
After over 30 years performing around the world for corporate clients at trade shows, Mark Phillips co-created The Magic Duel, which became an instant hit at DC's beautiful and historic Mayflower Hotel. We have been earning 5 star reviews there since 2015.
Take us through your show – what can we expect?
The magic duel is a live competition with the audience serving as judge and jury! Spectator's assist in the interactive, show and vote for their choice for DC's Best Magician. This applies to both live and virtual shows.
What do you love most about your job?
After traveling the world, I have learned that DC audiences are among the best educated, most insightful, highly receptive audiences in the world. We love developing both comedy and magic clever enough for this discerning group.
What inspired you to start your own business?
As a magician, you must wait for customers or agents to find you, or you can create your own opportunities. Being impatient, I created The Magic Duel and presented it as a self-produced, self contained show.

Yes! We offer virtual shows in addition to live. These can be on Zoom or other platforms. The show is 60 minutes long and has in depth interaction with 4 to 6 volunteers.
What changes have you made to keep your customers safe from Covid-19?
Mark and Ryan Phillips are both fully vaccinated. We adhere to local safety standards when performing. For example, there is currently a mask mandate in DC and we are united with the vast majority of DC venues in requiring proof of vaccination or a negative covid-19 test for our public show audience members.
Live Streaming Performances
The Magic Duel live streaming show is available for private and corporate events. This 60 minute comedy magic show features audience interaction as well as world class magic.
Prerecorded Performances for Online Events
You can incorporate a prerecorded performance of The Magic Duel into your live streaming event. Available in any length from 15 to 60 minutes, custom scripting and messaging is also available.
Live Shows
Live performances of The Magic Duel or solo appearances by Ryan or Mark Phillips can be arranged. These shows must be performed following local guidance for Covid-19 safety. Mark and Ryan are both fully vaccinated.
