Stephanie has been doing my hair since I moved here to Jacksonville. I have tried to go to many places before I found her and I was never satisfied. She is SO AMAZING I drive almost 30 minutes. This review is longgg overdue but this salon saved me from a hair disaster. I had gotten some really bad highlights at a different salon in st. aug and these ladies took me in last minute for a 3 hour highlight session back in May. 5 months later, I am still SO SO content with my hair. I found Stephanie in a totally random way. I was admittedly overreacting to what was a truly bad haircut that I was desperate to somehow fix. Without knowing where to go, I selected The Look and Lifestyle Total Salon by praying as I pointed at one of the salons that Google showed as near me. Stephanie happened to get the appointment. Lucky her getting tangled in my hair drama!! To fully understand how ridiculous my hopes were, part of my hair disaster was caused by the previous stylist having cut it really, really short. REALLY short! Yes, I went to a new stylist and asked her to cut my already too short hair to fix it. I know! Did I mention that I was overreacting to my melodrama and not thinking too clearly? Well, magic happens! I still don’t understand how she cut my already too short hair to make it look infinitely better, but she did. I immediately christened her the Wizard of the Scissors! I have returned several times since then, and each visit confirms that she does indeed work magic. My hair is difficult to cut. It has weird wave and growth patterns that I have given up trying to control. When Stephanie cuts my hair, I don’t need to! The cut magically just makes everything fall into place, and leaves my hair looking perfectly messy, the operative word being ”perfectly”. Styling hair takes a mastery of technique. Stephanie and Laura did amazing work for our wedding yesterday! Stephanie handled makeup while Laura handled hair for myself and two girls in the wedding, and we were showered with compliments all afternoon. They perfectly executed each style that each of us requested and I would highly recommend them for any occasion, especially weddings.Special kudos to Stephanie for squeezing me in for an emergency makeup trial the day before my wedding.I also had my lashes tinted and curled about two weeks ago by Jamie and they look so good! I was apart of a 1920’s themed wedding and Stephanie did an incredible job on my hair and makeup! She talked me through her ideas first to make sure it was what I wanted and it was perfect. Everyone there was super friendly and welcoming. We had a good time :) I had my first ever professional massage with Tané and it was amazing! She has a privatw room seperated from the salon with relaxing music and a heated table. She talked me through what she was going to do to make sure I was comfortable. An hour of pure bliss. My left shoulder was a little tight and sore so she spent some extra time in that area and really loosened it up. Definitely going to make this a more common thing in my life. Stephanie is the most amazing hair dresser in all of Jacksonville and St. Augustine. Some salons charge so much money you potentially would need to take out a home equity loan on the way to the salon to pay for your visit. Not for this salon! The prices are fair and my hair looks amazing. I used to spend 350$ at other salons, and the result was not worth it. I have been to Cortello and Mantra and have paid over 300$ per appointment at these "great" salons. Stephanie's work at this salon has surpassed them both and is a fraction of their prices. Her work is extremely detailed and she is amazing at multi-tasking. I have dark dark hair and transformed to bright blond, my hair is not fried and my wallet is not fried. I know first hand how difficult it is to find a good stylist in a smaller community, especially in Florida. It's an industry that doesn't require as much training as many other states do. But Laura does a phenomenal job. I have so much confidence in her, I let her make suggestions and I haven't been disappointed yet. She's also great with color. This is the best service for hair and dye in town. I went in to get my beard and hair dyed to be Santa for December. Laurie, who did my hair and beard, stuck with me and was passionate about getting my beard as white as she could. The staff are some of the most friendly in the whole of St. Augustine. I have FINALLY found my forever salon & stylist. I've seen Stephanie 3 times in the last few weeks to get my hair done. First, I got it cut...and she did exactly what I wanted. I have been to all the high-end salons in St. Augustine & Jacksonville, and I always leave disappointed. Not anymore. She listens to what YOU want, and you get what you want. - I immediately scheduled an appointment for highlights, as it had been a long time since I had it done, and I loved it. I went back a week later and had more highlights put in. The products they use are phenomenal, and my hair feels soft, and not like I just had highlights done twice in 2 weeks. I will definitely be going back, and soon. The atmosphere is quaint, and the ladies are fun to chat with. I really can't say enough good things about this salon. LOVE IT! A little over a year ago a hair stylist fried my hair. I asked for highlights and she turned it yellow and it was coming out in my hair brush. A day later I was referred to Laura at the look and lifestyle salon. Laura saved my hair and gave me the natural beautiful highlights I desired. I have never been so pleased with a hairdresser.
