I recommend TLRD from two perspectives. First, as a foster. When I decided to help save dogs lives I volunteered with TLRD in fostering. Everyone in the organization was helpful, informative, super caring for each dog, and always responded to my questions, and the dogs needs immediately. This is a very well run dog rescue with only the dogs wellbeing in mind. Second, as an adopter. I did adopt a dog from TLRD. The adoption process as easy and quick, but again, held the dogs interests always first. Once my new adopted dog has settled securely into the household I plan on continuing to foster to help save lives, and feel I can do so because of how great this rescue organization is run. They are very supportive of their volunteers and work tirelessly to save as many dogs as they can. I give them the highest recommendation! More...

I was always interested in fostering and regularly attended the adoption events at Petco on Saturday mornings. After speaking to one of the Foster Coordinators, Kelly, I agreed to give it a try. I have received so much support and am so happy I decided to foster Keiko. Kelly is always in contact with me and I am so grateful for her always checking on how it’s going and their hard work in helping the dogs in need! We met Mila at the photo shoot at Pittsford Park today. After walking her around for a while, holding her (with lots of free kisses), we took her home. She has only been in the house for less than 12 hours, but what a joy she is. All I have to say is "Let's go peepee." She goes to the front door with me and "pees" within 6 feet of the front door. Then she wants to go for a walk. She may be small, but has a lot of energy to walk so well on her leash. The lady who owned her passed away, so now my husband and I are enjoying this beautiful little girl. She may be 8, but we are both 80 and 83, so we did not want to get a puppy. By the way we have changed her name to BELLAH. Yea, because the letter "H" means alert and watchful. Years ago we had a shepherd mix named HOHSE who was a great companion. Stephen was so organized to arrange the adoption. We know that they will be available if we have any problems or questions. I now recommended them to our daughter because their Rocky died a couple of weeks ago. We'll see how that goes. With over 60 dogs of all sizes to choose from, I feel she has a great chance of finding a wonderful companion. More...

We had a great experience with TLRD. I love that Steve puts the dogs first. He is observant and knows all the companions personalities. He knew what kind of dog mom I would be, and it was important to him that we found the right fit for our family. The entire staff and fosters were friendly and informative. We adopted our baby boy, Luke (Charlie Brown) and are absolutely in love with him. His foster mom did an incredible job with him. We adopted our pit bull Morgan through this rescue. They are amazing and do such good for pit bulls, but also for any other breed they rescue!
