The Kitchen Bakersfield

Wow what a great experience we had tonight at the Kitchen. There were 20 of us from Centre for Neuro Skills, and we wanted an entertaining dinner. Turns out that the 3 hours spent at The Kitchen was an extremely fun and interesting three hours. Not to mention the food was fantastic (chimichuri steak was our entree). The staff is very nice. Chef threw in a few extra appetizers and really spoiled us. I recommend The Kitchen to anyone who wants a unique dining experience for their group. I think it would make a great birthday party or business dinner, and totally worth the money! More...

We had a date-night here with a total of 5 couples and had an absolutely amazing time! Everything we cooked was delicious and it was a blast! ! We highly recommend having an event at The Kitchen! I wish them success and I hope they last because we'll be coming back for sure!

What a great value! The kids cooked so many different kinds of food. More advanced than I thought they could teach at that age.

They were so wonderful and made it so fun for my daughter and her friends. It was also nice to see my daughter's very picky friend branch out and learn to like new foods.

A group of us booked a special dinner party at The Kitchen.  None of us had ever been there, so this was something new for all! We walked in and smelled a delicious aroma....something was already cooking!  Richard and Kim greeted us as we walked in. The place was very cozy.  It had all the kitchen equipment that we would be using to prepare our dinner but it also had a table set up for our food prep with little aprons waiting for us.  There was a separate table set up for us to eat our dinner after we were all done.We had ordered the stuffed mushroom appetizers, so those came shortly after we opened our first bottle of wine and before we got started cooking (this is what was cooking when we first arrived). They were delicious!   We just chatted with each other until Richard asked us to find a spot at the food prep area where we would get started.  Richard walked us through everything!  He showed us the correct way to hold the knife (I did not know there was such a thing), how to cut vegetables correctly, how and where to cut meat so it would taste better and so much more!!  He was very friendly and knowledgeable!We all participated in some of the food prep together and there were other things that only a couple of us participated in.  We had the choice to get really involved or not.  Even for those who are very inexperienced in the kitchen, it was fun and educational!!  I learned a lot...and I really don't like to cook.When it was time to sit down and eat, Kim and Richard brought the food that WE ALL cooked to us on individually plated plates.  They put their own little flair to the plates, which made them look fancy schmancy!! I didn't know I could cook something that looked so beautiful!! Thanks Richard and Kim!We finally got to eat our creations...OMG!!  Everything was delicious!!  I can't believe I can actually cook good food!! :)  We enjoyed chatting  and eating our delicious food that WE cooked!  Richard and Kim came around and checked on us to make sure we all were doing okay as we were eating.  They also joined in on some of our conversation, which was very nice!  Richard is super funny and I just love his laugh!  My husband said he wants to hang out with him more...he said he is very interesting!I would strongly recommend this place to anyone that wants to enjoy a nice night out with friends and learn some new things.  I can't wait until our next visit! I just want to thank Richard and all of the staff at the kitchen. My lady friend and I had a wonderful experience there February 15 for a Valentine’s Day dinner. The instruction was amazing. My friends and I took our daughters for a Valentine's Day themed cookie decorating class. We had a BALL! Richard and his staff were so kind, eager and helpful. The girls had fun decorating, and the mammas learned some new tips about the best way to approach cookie dough. On a separate note, I was personally impressed and appreciative of the staff's accommodation towards my daughter's peanut allergy. I have a new appreciation towards great meals. I loved the whole experience. I never realized how much can go into preparing one dish. Richard was very hands on and every question I had, he was very patient and answered them all. He's definitely a great teacher. Unfortunately, I don't think I can recreate the wonderful 3 course meal we made on Friday night (fenil citrus salad, salmon on top of coconut rice with lemongrass broth and poached pear for dessert) he said he would give me the recipe but I forgot to get it on the way out His two assistants was awesome. I went to The Kitchen for a fundraiser and I got there pretty late, so most of the appetizers were gone. But what I can say is they did have ONE appetizer left that consisted of some cream cheese mixture on top of an endive lettuce leaf. It was SO delicious! The place was very nice and I'd love to take a cooking class there one day! Bakersfield locals (or even visitors) should definitely check this place out! More...

Our friends set up a private dinner party to celebrate my kidney transplant from my husband and we had an amazing time. Darci was so sweet and we all learned some new things to use in our own kitchens. The menu was delicious and we all just absolutely loved the ambience of the place. We did a birthday dinner here and we had the best time. We made a salad entree and learned different methods of chopping. For our main, panko crusted chicken with a butter lemon sauce topped with arugula and sided with potatoes . I am thrilled to write a review for The Kitchen.When we were asked to find a fun activity for a team meeting we immediately thought of The Kitchen.  We had heard many great things about it.  Booking was easy and Darci from the start was professional and got back to us very fast.We booked a cooking class dinner for about 30 people.  It was a very large group for this type of activity.  From the minute the team arrived Darci and her team handled us with grace and was very patience with us.  They kept us on task and taught us along the way.  Everything was ready for us, all of the food we made was amazing.  We learned how to make new things that many of us had never tried of.  Darci was really good about moving us along and helping us when we needed it.  She was organized, professional, and kind.Owning an event company you know right away when a business is going to do well, and I feel strongly Darci and her team are going to be around for a long time.  I hope to bring more business to Darci and work with her and her team again in the near future.If you are thinking about booking an event at The Kitchen you will be so glad you did!Colleen BauerFounder/Owner Fairy Godmother Events a Wedding & Event Company More...

My husband planned a great birthday dinner for me with some of our closest friends! Owner Darci was wonderful! She made contact with him to find out about menu ideas. The evening was a very intimate setting with oil tealights everywhere. She was very accommodating about letting us bring in our own alcohol and wine (there is a corkage fee) and setting up a small bar area. Our food was prepared by Harry, while Steve kept our beverages full. Loved the cloth napkins and fresh flowers! The honey roasted Chili cashews, blanched almonds with truffle salt, and roasted baguette with baked brie and sauteed mushrooms WERE AMAZING appetizers as we mingled.The dinner salad was fresh and drizzled with a tasty dressing. The main course was filet mignon (garlic herb butter on top) accompanied with potatoes au gratin and roasted asparagus. Dessert was ice cream and a type of chocolate brittle that was also served with some butter cookies.Overall, it was an amazing time. I cannot say enough about her staff. They were wonderful. Very hardworking and there to answer any questions about the food, preparation, recipes, etc.Most defiantly a little gem of a place in the downtown area!!The Kitchen does not disappoint. We had a double birthday party at The Kitchen this month...I didn't really know what to expect but as soon as we met up with Darci (the owner of this Fabulous place) we knew we were in good hands :) She helped walk us through the menu and has a variety of it to choose from :). We wanted to shy away from the traditional sit down, have lunch with friends party theme so what The Kitchen offered was a fun hands on experience in cooking with friends while you mingle and party :) and be served in the end.
