I just had a Bahn Mi (w/ Tofu) and an Eggroll (w/ Tofu) and absolutely loved it. My mom was with me and she had the Pho Burger (completely out of her comfort zone) and she wished she had gotten 2.

Delicious, fresh food served from the cleanest food truck I've ever seen, and the owners are amazingly nice. I love the lemongrass tacos - 2 for $7 is very reasonable for any food truck, especially since it is so tasty!

Holy hell!!! Got the Pho taco here at Broad Appetit-- was the absolute best dish I had for the day!!! Soon, a restraining order will be needed since I intend to camp out in front of their truck for the next one!!!

I had never had a banh mi sandwich before so I tried the BBQ pork one, and it did not disappoint. Super fresh flavors that I can tell are authentically Vietnamese. Perfect for a light work lunch. I have only eaten Pho at restaurants before, so I was a little skeptical of getting it on a food truck. It was EXCELLENT!! Very impressed! But, I will tell you what - I'm totally addicted to the egg rolls! OMG! Fantastic! And they killed it with their Pho Slider at Burger Blast at the Virginia Wine Expo! It was really really great! I've only had the pho sliders and the tacos but I like this truck so far! Where else are you going to find a mini burger seasoned like pho and topped with bean sprouts? And the pickled slaw in the tacos is so yummy- it's a little watery but I like my tacos juicy anyway. I went to Hardywood brewery today with some friends, the food truck on site was the hungry turtle. Talked to the owners of the truck briefly and proceeded to order the banh mi and daily special, tacos similar to spam musubi. The banh mi was tasty and the tacos were good. My friends got the pho and they enjoyed it, all the pho was piping hot and we all ordered larges since it was cold and rainy out. I got an order of pho for myself later in the day. It seems like in the last few years Richmond has been booming with new small food related businesses, food trucks and breweries are popping up everywhere which is always a great thing. If you want a good and hot meal served by friendly people I think you should check these guys out. More...

This is more like 3 and 3/4 stars. The Vietnamese food sold at the Hungry Turtle is not the kind of flavors you'll commonly find around RVA. 2 things you might not like about the the type of banh mi sold at the Hungry Turtle is the bread and bread spread. The bread used is a very soft hoagie used mosty for making cheese-steak sandwiches at the mall. Even though it has flavor it lacks the crunchy and chewy texture that makes it a banh mi. The bread spread they use is mayonnaise instead of pâté, rich butter spread, or soy sauce. I don't like mayonnaise in my banh mi however, the pickled veggies were good and the BBQ pork (red seasoning) was moist and fresh. The egg-rolls were good, but had cabbage and carrots as a filling versus the eggrolls found around RVA that uses meat and mushrooms. The price is what you would typically pay for eating at a food truck food so don't expect to get banh mi shop prices. Although they do offer a punch card and after your 9th banh mi, you get one free. BTW, they don't have ice coffee yet, which is a bummer because its a great accompaniment to a banh mi. Overall the experience was just ok.
