Stopped here for lunch. Had a bowl of beer cheese soup, the all American burger with pub fries and a cheesecake with berries for dessert. Also had two cider beers. One was infused with cbd oil. I am full, relaxed and content. Enjoyed the food and the atmosphere. I also received stellar and attentive service from my waitress/bartender. This place is always busy and for good reason! Went here after the dinner rush on a Saturday night and was promptly sat at a table. The server didn’t pressure us to order and made us feel welcome. We ordered the boneless wings appetizer. Great Dane, these were perfection! Perfectly cooked chicken that was lightly breaded and glazed in mouth watering spicy sauce. I’m coming back for those wings time and time again! I also ordered the small nachos with chicken for my entree. I’ve been to several places that offer nachos and this was the best I’ve had in Madison. The crisp fresh tricolored chips are topped with flavorful and evenly distributed toppings. My first time to Wisconsin and I wanted to try a spot that offered a good experience and food. The Great Dane introduced me to the fantastic Wisconsin-traditional: cheese curds. I would have had a whole plate to myself! I ordered the Brat & Bacon Burger on a Pretzel Bun... this thing is a beast - two patties (one beef, one brat), bacon, cheddar, caramelized onions, and mustard. Went with a friend she had chicken pot pie, and said it was very good she watching liked the pretzel stick and applesauce that came with the meal. I forget the name of the entree I had. My entree had Tofou of which I am not a fan of but the rest of the meal was very good. I had a Toddy which was well made. We had a family gathering (14 people) on a Friday night at Great Dane. Everything was awesome. We made a reservation and the table was ready on time. The server was great. Very attentive and accommodating. There was one small error with an order and it was quickly and completely corrected. The food is great. Beer is decent. Service is always good. But I do have a gripe about a recent interaction. I called about having a group come in for a work party, and when I asked to speak to a manager when I called, the hostess/receptionist asked me my name and why I was calling. I explained everything and she said he (the manager) didn’t have time to talk about it / didn’t want to take the call. Needless to say, I was annoyed. It made planning our work outing difficult. I love the Great Dane. The menu selection is a bit unusual, you have your normal bar foods but with some different items too. Everything I’ve had has been fantastic and there’s something for everyone. My husband loves their beers, I don’t drink beer so can’t personally speak to that. I have been to this location a handful of times and the service is always good. I like their salads (but would skip on the mac and cheese) and really enjoy their beers. More recently, my sister organized a brunch for my Bridal Shower at the Great Dane and we had a wonderful time. The contract outlines the hourly food & beverage minimum, and although I felt the rates were a bit high, it was worth the experience. The room we were in was seemingly the farthest from the buffet area and required some navigation to get to and from for our group of 22. The brunch buffet itself was impressive with so many options that really provided something for everyone. There were eggs prepared in a variety of ways, multiple breakfast meats, plenty of fresh fruits, an assortment of breakfast carbs, and so much more. I also noticed that as we approached the noon hour, they brought out ham, mashed potatoes, and other more so lunch foods.
