Great location for our stay in Glen Cove - near everything we wanted to go to. WiFi is weak throughout the hotel - that was frustrating. Lighting in the parking lot is dismal - was fearful with my elderly mother walking in from the 2nd lot, front steps carpet need to be fixed - at least duct taped so that the tripping hazard is removed. My Husband and I got married on 10/5/19 at the Glen Cove Mansion. Our wedding was a dream come true. Even if I won the lottery, I wouldn't redo a single thing about my wedding. It was okay but one night like 2 dozen kids ran around screaming in the hallway. When I went out to see what was causing the commotion, I saw them being escorted out, and they were rudely talking to and taking pictures of the staff. It wasn't even an hour before they were back. An experience like no other. Drive through the woods to stay, dine, or meet in a historical mansion prioritizing the preservation of the elegance of the original Pratt mansion, yet keeping modernization in mind to give their guests a lovely experience. A windy road leading to a mansion with marble columns with spotlights greet you. As a historian, I swooned.There are old trees, gardens, fountains, and the sound silence and nature around.Inside, the lobby has a very iconic look. Checkerboard floor tile, soft cushioned seats, a double staircase adorned with old paintings on the walls, and a dining room with clothed tables and curtains so elaborate and large, you'll wonder how many people it took to do it, which is also an amazing thing to think about during your stay. The mansion's halls branch out quite a bit, showing the complexity of the building, as well as large rooms where meetings or events are held or small cozy spots that are there almost as if they are for private conversations over a cup of coffee or tea. The rooms themselves are nicely lit with a fairly simple bathroom and a cozy bedroom. Great temperature control. Our TV, that hat all modern inputs, was located in a large wooden wardrobe, making it a pleasant surprise.You are far from some things and when it gets dark out, it is DARK, but it's like a nice retreat where you can relax and enjoy the finer things in life. Also, played a little pool in The Overlook at night, which is full of classic seating, yet a monitor (perhaps for sports?) and a couple of PC's. We enjoyed a comfortable stay at delightful Glen Cove Mansion. The rooms were fairly standard but comfortable. The grounds were lovely to relax in on chais lounges and the lightly heated indoor pool was a welcome. Cool pub upstairs. Front desk staff were all helpful and courteous with an extra nod to Diane who was efficient and friendly. Only criticisms - bedroom walls are thin and so voices resonated louder than normal, and fire alarm test went off at 700 am and lasted one hour. We are currently staying at The Mansion overnight while visiting friends on LI. When we checked in with our 8 month old there was a wedding going on. I asked the woman who was checking us in if she could give us as quiet of a room as possible. It was obvious that she truly cared as she even consulted her colleague to get her opinion on which room would be best for us. We are now in our room which is luxurious, quiet, and clean. We stayed here to check out options in the area. The mansion is cool period. There are no guest rooms in the mansion. The rooms are in various additions. This is nice but is a bit choppy due it being done over time. The pub and dining on third floor is interesting. The place is getting a little tired but is still quite interesting and comfy. I was in Glen Cove for Vai Academy and it was held here at the Mansion. Beautiful place with lots of history. This was my first trip to NY and I felt at home. The staff are very friendly and helpful. This is a BIG place. If I'm not mistaken it sits on 55 acres. I was not afraid to leave my car parked in the lot (though the lower lot could use more lighting). We chose the Mansion for our son's wedding weekend because it was the only hotel in the area that offered the English country-style wedding retreat we were looking for. The Mansion delivered. It is a characterful hotel with lovely grounds and a delightful outside pool. The reception rooms and library at the front of the hotel are charming if somewhat under-used by the hotel. Although some Trip Advisor reviews we read were critical of reception, our large group was checked-in very efficiently and Grace, the reception manager, was excellent in overseeing check-in and dealing with guests' needs. Steve Carl and Alicia Washington completely understood the needs of our orthodox Jewish guests and arrangements were made for manual room keys to be issued for Shabbat and for guests to be able to charge beverages to their room without having to sign on the Sabbath. Steve also organised an excellent after-party in Pratts restaurants with a very good range of liquor and kosher food. We would strongly recommend taking the refurbished Luxury King rooms which are large, bright and nicely appointed. Some of the other rooms, the gym and indoor pool need upgrading but that I am sure is planned over time and once the works are finished and the new restaurant is operating this will become the destination hotel in the area. This was my first trip to NY. All of my business was here at the Mansion. The staff are very friendly. Really nice people. The Mansion itself is beautiful. My stay was for the week and I had two different rooms. The first room that I had was only for two nights and something must have been wrong with the air conditioning, because I never could get my room cool like I like it. Also the hallway was warm. When I moved into my second room in a different part of the building the A.C worked very well. The hallway was nice and cool. I can't hold the problem against them. Sometimes things just happen.
