We stayed for 2 nights here - very good value for money. We stayed at the Gates Hotel for two night in December 2019, with sister hotel 24 North next door. The hotel was nice, no breakfast provided but food truck, the pool was really nice and big, nice loungers except they have a bar that hits right at your lower back. The bars were nice, Starbucks next door, but walked to McDonalds just down the street for coffee and breakfast. The hotel has a shuttle that goes every hour in the morning and every half hour after 3 (I Think), right to Mallory Square. The second day we took the Trolley tour and that was really helpful and informative. Picks you up right next door just book with the concierge at the hotel also to Mallory Square, but stops service at 4 pm, but you can get the hotel shuttle til 10 at night. Overall a really nice place out of the craziness of Duval Street. Our room was small, two queens, NO MICROWAVE, small refrigerator, pool side room, bar music started a little early, but hotel overall was very clean. More...

We enjoyed our stay at the gates hotel. The pool areas were nice at both properties. Food at the 24 north bar was good, we had dinner there twice. The shuttle was very convenient and all the staff we encountered were helpful. The room was comfortable and seemed clean however the floors were filthy. I took a shower at night and when I woke up and was walking around the next morning my feet were black! Just from walking around the room briefly. Gross. Otherwise nice hotel but that was a turn off. As we stayed in room#120 it would be irresponsible not to mention night activity and unexplained noises of furniture being dragged all over the floor without any human assistance. Since I am atheist and therefore do not believe in ghosts - (alt-ho I did hear the noise that got me up from deep sleep twice that night) I do thank to my religious wife who helped two entities to move into the light. First time at the hotel. Great staff, cool bar and pool and nice rooms. Easy to take free transportation back and forth to Old town. Only a ten minute ride. We enjoyed a quiet room with no hassle away from the craziness of Duval St. A Food truck on site had super delicious choices for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The manager treated us well when we were delayed getting into our room. Well done. The only suggestion is to invest in better pillows. The current ones are hard and lumpy☹️. It’s a lovely hotel, the beds are really comfy. It’s clean,modern, and the free shuttle into town runs prompt and regularly. I would recommend the hotel but I’d like to see one thing changed. I know it might seem trivial, but they don’t seem to be very modern in their efforts to save using plastic. They provide paper cups- good but they are individually wrapped in plastic, and little black straws as provided with these also wrapped in plastic to stir your coffee. Cet hôtel est un peu excentré ce qui ne l’empêche pas de pratiquer les prix prohibitifs de l’ensemble de l’offre hôtelière de l’île. Ceci étant dit l’établissement qui fait parti d’un grand complexe regroupant plusieurs autres hôtels, est tout à fait agréable, les chambres ont une touche contemporaine, elles sont grandes et fonctionnelles. La piscine et ses abords sont cosy et il y fait bon lézarder. Toutefois à partir d’une certaine heure, oubliez la sieste : live DJ, bar juste à côté et son lot de touristes saouls viendront troubler quelque peu le côté paisible des lieux pour laisser place à une ambiance “clubbing”, après tout les gens viennent à Key West pour faire la fête ! El hotel resulta estar algo lejos del downtown pero no es preocupante porque tienen un servicio de shuttle gratuito que cada media hora pasa y te lleva al centro, muy piola. ...también tienen un servicio de alquiler de bicis por 15,00 U$D x día. Está bueno recorrer en bici el cayo, hay bicisendas por todos lados y es super práctico.||||Volviendo al hotel....la habitación muy cómoda, el parking es gratuito, la pileta es amplia (no profunda) y hay un bar con mucha onda (con servicio en la piscina).||||El hotel no ofrece desayuno pero hay un Starbucks en el hotel de al lado y además la habitación cuenta con coffee maker, así que no es problema.||||Le resto un punto porque al llegar nos ofrecieron hacer un early check in pero con un adicional de 50,00 U$D y me pareció una risa, siendo que eran las 2PM y el horario de check in era a las 4PM...creo que con un poco de voluntad podrían hacer el esfuerzo de (en esos casos) buscarle la vuelta para ofrecerle al huesped una facilidad sin costo extra, más sabiendo que uno llega después de haber manejado 250 KM. This hotel is located about a 10 min shuttle ride to Mallory Square. The rooms are large. The pool grounds and bar area are scenic and the drinks are excellent. This hotel has an agreement with the hotel next door to use both pool and bar areas and they both have different happy hours so the drinks are very reasonable during the afternoon and early evening. The staff was excellent. Ksenia, the front desk agent, and Tim, the concierge, were especially helpful at check in and with all of the questions we had about getting around key West. Our room was exceptionally clean thanks to Patricia our room attendant. Parking is free at the gates, so we left the car at the hotel and used the shuttle. There is limited parking in Key West so the shuttle service was our best way to get around. The shuttle drops you off at Mallory Square and picks you up at the same location. Excellent shuttle service. Reasonable room prices, great grounds, large clean rooms and shuttle service made this an exceptional stay! More...

My wife and I stayed at this hotel during our honeymoon road trip. |We felt welcome and after the trip down from Miami it was great to just arrive on Key West and be at the hotel. ||Of course this means a long way to old town Key West but have a free shuttle bus that leaves every hour, most of the day even every half an hour and drops you off right at Malory Square. So no hassle with looking for a parking space in the old town. AND you don't need a designated driver, which is a big plus as well. Unfortunately the last shuttle bus back to the hotel leaves at 11 pm, so don't plan any long nights downtown.||The rooms have a decent size and are clean, but unfortunately not very soundproof. This isn't a big problem, unless, there's a little puppy howling for it's owner in the room next door. As this hotel is pet friendly and pet owners can be irresponsible, this actually can be an issue.||There's enough parking space for all the guests and they have a nice pool as well.||If you get hungry, a food truck will prepare fresh things for you, or Starbucks in the hotel next door will help you out. ||All in all the hotel has a modern and clean look and felt very welcome, but if you look closely you'll find enough dents and scratches that show you a renovation is necessary sooner than later. My husband and I enjoyed our stay at the Gates and felt the location was good relative to the rest of the island! We had a funky smell in our room though that I think came from the ac unit and our extra door security didn’t work which was kind of frustrating.
