I can’t express enough how much of a hidden gem Independence Golf Club is for Richmond. I loved the venue the second I saw pictures online and saw the venue in person. Megan was extremely flexible and any request we had to make our day special, she was able to fulfill that request. On the day of our wedding Megan, Sam, and Michele were a rockstar team, there was no need for us to hire a day of coordinator because this team was able to handle every aspect and more. With their professionalism and hard work our wedding day was perfect, there were so many special things this team did that I didn’t realize happen until after the wedding. My husband and I LOVED having our wedding at Independence. They were so helpful, the venue is stunning before you even add decorations, and the food was awesome. For Saturday weddings there is a minimum of $15,000, but if you have your ceremony and reception at the venue it's pretty easy to hit. They had almost all of our decorations set up before the rehearsal so we were able to see what everything would look like the day before. We didn't pay for an external wedding coordinator and everything went extremely smooth between their coordinators (for the entire day) and our pastor (for the ceremony). More...

The venue is absolutely beautiful. I didn’t need to bring many decorations at all, because it is already decorated beautifully! I loved how there are a couple different options for the ceremony site - we ended up choosing the pavilion which gave me a little more peace of mind when it came to potential rain. The food and wine selection are amazing. I highly recommend renting one of the cottages at the back of the property for the bride and bridesmaids to get ready in! It made the day a lot less stressful already being on site to get ready, plus some of my bridal party got to spend the night there that evening too. More...

Megan and her team were absolutely incredible. As soon as I walked into the venue for the first time I knew I wanted to get married there. As the day got closer Megan and team was always willing to meet to go over the day of details. On the wedding day we planned on getting married under the outdoor pavilion. However, the weather hasn’t other plans and the staff did a major last minute flip and pulled everything inside, even getting drenched in the process. I'm so grateful I chose The Estate at Independence for my wedding on August 5, 2017! I grew up nearby and golfed here frequently as a kid so it was a perfect location. To say Megan and Ryan were wonderful is truly an understatement. From our very first meeting, I could tell that my husband and I were in good hands. Megan and Ryan explained everything! They took in all the things I had to say (big and small), answered my million and one questions with a smile, and they made my vision a reality. On our wedding day, everyone was well prepared and it made our event seamless. I received so many compliments from my wedding party, as well as my guests, about the staffs willingness to step in and help, how polite they were, and how well organized everything was. On top of all that, the food... it was delicious! It tasted the same on my wedding day as it did during our tasting. If I had to go back to the beginning and redo my wedding all over again, the only thing I would change would be to have booked with them sooner. A truly wonderful experience!! More...

We could not say enough amazing things about the Independence Golf Club and the staff. The on-site coordinator, Megan, was absolutely AMAZING. She was there for every question all the way through the day after our wedding. It actually rained on our wedding day and the staff did everything possible to ensure we could still use the outdoor pavilion no matter what. Even with the chaos from the weather, the day of our wedding ran perfect without a hitch. The grounds and clubhouse were absolutely gorgeous and beautiful in our wedding pictures. They also gave us awesome recommendations for other vendors to use, which we did, and were completely satisfied. We literally had our dream wedding at an extremely reasonable price. They even threw in a few extra decorations to the table settings without being asked and they looked amazing. We also were able to utilize the onsite cottages for our bridal party (many of which were coming from out of town)- the cottages were up-to-date and spacious- we loved them and totally worth the value. We would recommend the Independence for any couple looking for a beautiful venue and excellent staff! More...

The Estate at Independence was the best decision we made for our wedding on June 4th, 2017. Megan and Ryan were beyond awesome! They literally took care of everything on our wedding day and we couldn't imagine what it would have been like without them. They served as the day of coordinators and made sure all our party was where they were supposed to be at all times and helped with coordinating with the vendors as they arrived and set up. As soon as we got there, they made sure our main priority was to relax and get ready for the big moment. Aside from a wonderful event staff, the venue was beautiful and everything we imagined for our special day. The backdrop of green pine coupled with the blue sky made for a ceremony that our guests couldn't stop talking about for weeks and the reception indoors was nothing short of elegant. They were also very accommodating with dietary and food restrictions. Megan helped us with setting up the rooms and her experience was invaluable to provide a space that allowed for good flow from one part of the reception to the next. I was the bride this past weekend and I could not have imagined a better wedding night! Everything went so smooth, I did not have to worry about a thing! We had a larger than expected guest list and they accommodated so wonderfully. They also had the lodge and cottages on site so we did not have to travel. It was perfect getting ready there the morning of, and getting pizzas delivered down there for the party after. We had the rehearsal dinner and next morning brunch there as well. I can't say enough about how fantastic Independence Golf Club was to have our wedding reception at. From Day 1, my husband and I fell in love with the property, grounds and staff.
Property / Grounds: I think the most impressive sight in the area is when you make the right hand turn into the driveway and you see IGC, it's breathtaking and so impressive! The grounds are fantastic as well and make for some of the prettiest wedding pictures you'll ever see (and they'll provide golf carts so you can easily get around the property for those gorgeous shots!).
Staff: Hands down Megan and her team are the absolute best at what they do! They've managed to strike the perfect balance between being completely professional and one of your closest friends at the same time. I don't think I ever waited longer than an hour or two before receiving responses from them and no matter what I asked for, they made it happen. I'm honestly not sure I'd be saying the same thing had we chosen one of the other venues we were originally considering.
Bonus: IGC has two cottages onsite that have a total of 8 bedrooms, all with private bathrooms. This is the absolute perfect setup for a wedding party or family / friends. My husband's large family stayed there for the weekend and it couldn't have worked out better. Easy access and no one had to worry about driving anywhere! They also have a bridal suite in the main building which is a great place to get ready at and/or to escape to when you need 2 minutes to breath (and reapply lipstick!).

Every detail was absolutely beautiful as was the scenery of the entire estate. There wasn't any need we had that wasn't already being taken care of by the incredible and generous staff. The Event coordinator, Megan and team went above and beyond to ensure that our event was seamless and everything was perfect. We never worried about anything and could not believe how organized the entire day was. My husband and I care very much for this place and the people who make everything possible.
