The Cuban

Was excited to finally try here. Came on Sunday afternoon for lunch. It was quiet and not crowded at all. Was content to sit at table by bar to watch football while eating. Looks like a great atmosphere for a Friday/Saturday happy hour or night. Menu is somewhat confusing. The aide that says DINNER at the top are in fact the appetizers  Glad my waiter said something before I ordered. As it was I couldn't decide on an entree so I went with 2 appetizers. For beer..no taps. All bottled. Ehhh selection if you're a beer person. Your standard blah blahs..bud, coors lite etc and some Modelos & Dos Equis choices.  In a town filled with great craft brews, to me it's a let down. Service was great! The young man was attentive, very knowledgeable of the menu and made great recommendations.  The warm rolls with spiced butter they bring to table are delicious. We split an order of plantain chips which were so delicious but a bit skimpy on the guacamole & chili dipping sauces for the price. My husband had the Chicken soup, which is more like a stew than soup. Very hearty, not much broth. But delicious. For his entree he went with the Famous Cuban sandwich. I couldn't decide so I had empanadas appetizer & cubanito appetizer, which are 2 smaller Cuban sandwich sliders.Have to say, side by side I didn't think his sandwich was that much more than my 2 sliders. Expected a little more for your money. That said, both the Cuban and Cubanito were delicious!!! We didn't care for the side dish. Some kind of fried stick tasted like plantains and cormeal. Pretty bland. Think a sweet dipping sauce would compliment it better than the watery bitter sauce it comes with.Overall we really liked it and I'm sure will be back. My husband and I went into "The Cuban" early on a Saturday night. We were immediately served fresh rolls with delicious seasoned butter.  The Mango Mojito I ordered was made with fresh mango and meddled mint.  It was perfect.   For dinner I had pulled pork that came with rice with beans and yuca fries.  The meal was plentiful and very good.   Hubby ordered the Cuban sandwich that came with yuca fries.  It was very well made.  Our waiter, Jack was  extremely efficient and very friendly.  We will definitely be back.  Next time we are saving room for dessert!   Definitely will be back.  Great place to celebrate special occasions. I went to the Cuban restaurant last night on my birthday. I read the reviews on the internet so I definitely wanted to get there before it got crowded. My family of 4 got there about 6:30pm. It was pretty full and loud. The restaurant is very nice and decor is nice. They have valet parking, but also free parking. We opted to park our own car, it was pretty full so we parked in the back and walked a distance back to the restaurant. Outside they have classic cars from the 50's, everyone is wearing the fedora styled straw hats inside. The tables are very close together, very tight . There is a spot for a large table party on the side. Loud Latin music is playing, you definitely feel like u are in Cuba. It is very crowded, I got nervous watching the wait staff squeezing between the chairs with heavy large plates of food, holding chairs over there head moving back and forth all night between the customers. Seemed a little dangerous. Not family friendly, really for adults. Can't imagine young children in there with people constantly walking back & forth in the tight spaces carrying hot food, or moving plates from the tables. A little dangerous. My teen daughter didn't like how loud it was in there said we could barely hear each other speak. It took about a 1/2 hr for them to bring the appetizer which was a quesadilla, which was pricey at $11.50 for 4 cut pieces. It shouldn't have taken that long for this appetizer to be served. We waited about 45 minutes for our entree. When my husband asked the waiter why the food was taking so long, he told us they had a large party of 11 to wait on. We arrived there BEFORE that large party arrived, they announced their table was ready 20 minutes after we arrived. So that was really unacceptable for him to say they were more of a priority than us! We had a table of four that should have been taken care of first! The food was good, we all ordered different things to taste each other's food. My daughter enjoyed the churro dessert. My 23 year old son didn't like the flan, I didn't either something was off with the taste and texture.  The food portions are pretty big. I would recommend this place for a young people who want to go out with their friends dancing or coworkers stopping by for happy hour after work. The latin music is great, the younger crowd won't mind the loud music and dancing. My husband and I got up to dance we had fun! Don't think I would return since it took so long to get our food. Went to the Cuban twice for my birthday within a month of each other First in October and then in November. The service and food was good. The mojitos and sangria were very good. The only thing is the dessert sampler platter (comes with like 5 small desserts) was way overpriced at $60.  For that we could have had more drinks or went out and got a cake of our choice.  Other than that everything was good.  Just beware of that sampler dessert. FOOD: I had a lovely experience! For a light dinner, I had the shrimp with garlic sauce appetizer, an order of bread and a side of fried plantains, and it was awesome!  Paired with a delicious Mojito by Mallory is the way to go on Sunday nights! AMBIENCE: I love to go to see live entertainment but I don't always like to go out Friday and Saturday nights because as a musician myself and those are my busy nights. Every once in a while I go out and this time I checked into the Cuban in Patchogue. I've been to their other location in Westbury but this one I prefer. On Sunday nights Gissel Garcia rocks out solo! This is a perfect opportunity to enjoy some live music from 6:30 to 9:30, and hear songs in English and Spanish. Great aesthetic atmosphere. Friday's get packed because of their dj and live show. Food is average and small portioned with a price tag a bit on the high side. Drinks are good and strong! It's not authentic Cuban cuisine. This review is coming from my own personal experiences. Although after having dinner, sipping on a few Tropical to ghdrinks and live entertainment, you do get to experience a little bit of the Havana flair.

5 star restaurant!!! We were a party of 10 my husband had ordered his favorite whiskey which they did not have before our waitress Esther remembered us from last time she said they ordered just for us we could not believe it that was so nice how they went out of there way! As usual great service. Esther was very patient and caring with our party. She suggested the pulpo and family sampler, for dinner we had the seabass and pork osso buco and surf and turf great dishes. Delicious food, a little over priced. With the tables were big enough to match the size of the plates! Its a very high energy place with music bumping, so maybe not the place you want to go for a quiet intimate dinner

Very nice place to eat, drink and dance,I love the music. I was making it my weekend place until October 11. it was abut 9 of us in a group including my niece. we where having a good time and 2 of the girls that were with us left the drinks alone, one in the counter by us which was almost full the other drink was on an empty table by the dance floor where they were dancing when they went to get the drinks it was gone the waiter had taken it. The drinks had barely been touched, we approached the manager Allan Sancho and explained to him what happened, we figured that he out of courtesy would replace the drinks or at least one drink after explaining to him, he didn't even budge. I asked him if he preferred to loose customers over $8 and he basically said yes, he said he can't replace a drink to everyone who says they lost a drink, which is understandable but in our case the drinks where had barely been touched and he has seen us there before or at least he has seen me. If that's the case he should instruct the personal not to take drinks befor asking anyone around. One time I was there and they took my drink when i told the bartender she apologized and replaced it, that's the kind of service they should teach everyone else. the same group have gone there before, we even took my son there for his birthday in September. It was a very disappointing experience. Now if we go back again, we have to baby sit our drinks it shouldn't be so. More...

It was my first time here (though I have received recommendations for it), and wow! It was beyond my expectations to say the least. We went on a Saturday night and the place was happening. Good ambiance and food, however they don't take reservations and came here with my husband and friends for his bday last night which was a Saturday night. . we waited 45-50 minutes by the bar for a party of 6 but arrived around 7pm and noticed it got a LOT busier once we were seated.. The CubanI had been meaning to stop by this restaurant since it opened and I had not gotten around to it given that we were not frequenting Patchogue as of late. We had an opportunity to come here and dine when we scheduled a visit to the Patchogue Theater to see the comedian Paula Paunstone.The ambiance at the Cuban was vibrant. I felt delighted to drink in it's wonderful air and it's vivacious color palette; it reminded me of home in Puerto Rico. The Cuban was possessed by those Caribbean flavors that are very much a part of Latin cuisine. In this much, along with a great selections of sounds in the air, the Cuban has got it going on.The folks working the establishment were very polite, thoughtful, and entertaining; our waitress, Jessica, was devoted to making sure we were enjoying our experience. She was buzzing all over the place as more folks kept pouring in that evening. Our wait time understandingly slowed, yet was never a slow down that became upsetting because Jessica was on point.The food was pretty good  and the drinks were fantastic. I did find my dish could have used a bit more seasoning, but I enjoyed it pretty well. My wife absolutely loved hers, and our friends enjoyed their meals.I'll certainly be returning to the Cuban and recommend you give them a try. More...
