The sign outside says world famous, and based on the pictures of celebrities on the wall, somebody is talking about this place! They'd have good reason, too. The smoked sausage is jaw dropping, and the pulled pork with slaw is fantastic. With just a hint of sauce, you can let the pork speak for itself, or amplify its flavor with the BBQ sauce on the table. We were here for a date night! The atmosphere was warm and engaging with a lot of culturally relevant art and music. It was a good volume for dinner conversation. Our waitress was sweet and our food came out quickly. We had the Big momma (catfish sandwich) which I enjoyed with hot sauce, but might have been improved with some additional slaw. And the combo platter with Ribs and BBQ chicken, fried okra, fries, and mac and cheese. We came down from Green Bay to try something new, and had an enjoyable experience, but we probably won't make a special trip next time. A variety of real southern food is served here. It was nice listening to the Blues music played, it added more charm & character to the southern atmosphere. The service, prices & food was excellent.....large servings on their dinner platters. We had gizzards, frog legs & superb fried chicken. Corn bread was sweet & tasty. First off, the service here is slow. Secondly, sometimes you get by passed. It took them 20+ minutes to get us water. At one point, we were the only people without a drink in front of us. We got lucky and sat down right away. We also ordered right away. People that came in 15 and 20 minutes after us got their orders before we did. And there was only 2 of us. So why 5 stars still? The food is excellent. It is worth waiting for. Plus, even with the mixups etc. we were still in and out in less than an hour. Lighten up Francis. This place is BUSY on a weekend evening. The entire time we were seated there were people standing waiting for a seat to open up. And there was a line out the door when we left at 6:30. The food was really good. Original. I wish I lived closer to try everything on the menu. Lastly, a tip. They ran out of hush puppies. At every table, at least one person tried to order the hush puppies and were told they were out.
