The food was delicious and the proprietor was lovely. She and her staff family were engaging and when they said we would be satisfied they weren’t kidding-right down to the sweet tea and home made strawberry lemonade. I took home the desert which was the pound cake and let me tell you something! More...

We are from Houston and we looked for a soul food restaurant and we hit the jackpot. This spot is great. The lady greeted us with a smile and was so friendly. Being from the south and knowing what great food taste like I was hoping it was good. We were pleasantly surprised to bite into this delicious food. Everything was piping hot, fresh and tasty. We will always return to this place when we are in town. HIGHLY RECOMMEND! ! More...

Delicious. Food was great. I ordered the catfish dinner with mac and cheese and collards, cornbread and black eye peas. All was delicious except the black eye peas where too salty. Couldn't eat those. My sister order the oxtail.. she loved it. We also order a porkchop dinner and chicken breast dinner. Everyone loved everything, except my neice and sister did not care for the cheese selection for the macaroni. I myself enjoyed it. Great job Ladies More...

I gave 4 stars mainly because of the service of today. Top notch! Sherita I believe was her name. She was helpful, nice and had great humor. I was excited to come to the restaurant as I had heard great things about it. Maybe today was an off day seasoningwise. The pork chops and potatoes I ordered were bland. The greens and pound cake we're amazing. The catfish I ordered to go also was delicious. That would be worth coming back for! These things being said, I'll be back to give it another try. More...

I have always gotten the catfish, but have literally tried every side available, no bad choice. Try the Black-Eyed-Pea dip. SO GOODThe folks who run it are amazing and kind. I visited around 6:30pm on a Tuesday night. My friend and I were the only people there at that time. To be clear, The Comfort Zone is in the Royal Esquire Club. The club has a lot of tables to choose from. We heard that it gets livelier as the night goes on as well. It seems like it would a nice place to spend time with good friends. As time went on, more people arrived and musicians started setting up. We left before they started playing, but it probably would have been fun to hang around. As for the service, the young lady taking our orders and delivering our food was a wonderful host. It was a pleasure talking to her and her friendly personality made me feel welcome. My friend and I ordered the hush puppies and chicken wings to start. The chicken wings tasted great and were obviously just out of the fryer because they were piping hot. For the entrée, I ordered the fried catfish, mac n cheese, and rice and beans. The fried catfish and the mac n cheese were definite highlights. The catfish was not greasy and tasted fresh with no muddiness at all. The mac n cheese was delicious as well with a thick layer of cheddar on top. I would definitely go back to visit. More...

Seriously. SO GOOD. I went on a recommendation. Could not find at first, worth the effort. Inside the Royal Esquire Club, white awning, no sign. Looks like a bar inside. DO not let that fool you. The menu is straight down home and you WILL have trouble deciding. I can't not get the catfish, best I've ever had. Meatloaf, amazing. Now the sides, we've tried the Mac n cheese, red beans and rice, hush puppies, and yams. So GOOD. Also must try the Black Eyed Pea Dip, and the Pound Cake. The ladies who run it are phenomenal. Can't freaking believe I forgot to post. Seriously. Go. Eat. Here. Any chance you can when they're open. They were out of the box genuine. Immediate family. Then the food arrived. My hubby loves his collard greens but I can't stand them. Admittedly, I had never previously tried them, lol, but was convinced to. Confirmed that I can't stand them but the fact I was persuaded to try is a testament to the taste of the rest of what I enjoyed. Mouth is watering right now Thank you!! More...

You know that rare feeling when you walk in to a new restaurant and you are treated as if you've been a customer for 10 years? That's the Comfort Zone. I walked in for an early dinner and was immediately greeted by the owner, Talya and my ears were treated to a playlist of soul and r&b. I ordered the chicken wings, greens, and oxtail and was blown away by how delicious it was. The chicken wings are hot, juicy and crispy and seasoned perfectly. The greens were cooked just long enough to have some bite to it. While I prefer a little more spice and vinegar to my greens, these were seasoned well. The oxtail. Oh man, the oxtail. Normally I get them in gravy like the ones at Island Soul, or in soup Korean style. The oxtail at Comfort Zone are braised in a tomato, bay leaf, and onion broth and are fall off the bone, gelatinous, heaven. It comes with a side of rice to soak up the broth and you can get it with gravy too. Treat yourself and try it both ways! Talya was kind enough to let me try a bite of her fried catfish and homemade tartar (recipe is a secret!) And while I'm not a catfish fan, it is delicious at Comfort Zone! More...

This is where you want to go for that "at home" feeling. Great conversation (waitresses, chefs), and beautiful atmosphere. The food was fresh and DELICIOUS. My kids finished their plates (one had the pork chop meal, the other had a hamburger meal). What's funny is that no one spoke during the entire meal. Great food. Sweet Tea is on point EVERY TIME. My husband and I saw this place on yelp and decided to have dinner. We were greeted by the owner Talya, and her daughter. The service was good, the food was delicious and although my hubby didn't get the oxtails he wanted because they were sold out at the time, the shrimp and grits were amazing ! I had the chicken fried steak and it was huge!! On our way out the door, we stopped and spoke with Talya to find out there was a bar across the hallway and karaoke on Fridays and live music saturdays! We are definitely going back soon, thanks ladies ***** More...
