The Comedy Project is a welcome addition to our community and seems to fit well amongst the array of entertainment options available. Joe's (the owner) passion to see his vision come to fruition was palpable as he briefly shared stories and visuals of the before and after of the space prior to the show. Definitely a "making something from nothing" labor of love.The show was entertaining, the audience involvement was fun, and the fact that we were there for their inaugural evening of liquor license possession felt very pioneering. :-)A clear indication of my enjoyment was that as one who loves nothing more than a bowl of chili in front of the fire on a rainy, fall Friday night after a hectic week (as this was), I was very happy to have spent the evening at The Comedy Project. This was a fun date night for my husband and I! We met Candace and Eddie at our table and I'm glad we got to chat with fellow Yelpers in this cool new space! Prior to this event, I'd never heard of The Comedy Project. I'll definitely be recommending this place to others! I was surprised at the number of parking spaces they had in the congested space that is West Leonard. It was also nice that their entrance didn't face the busy street either. It was a little chilly (temperature-wise) when we arrived but it heated up once people started filling in. The snack counter had my faves: cheddar popcorn and Pringle's plus alcoholic seltzer! My favorite part of the hunting season show was the telephone monologue. Second was the improv part with the hunters and the son. The first dubbed commercial was hilarious, but the rest didn't tickle me. I love the idea of having dinner parties and rehearsal dinners at this venue - I think that's a novel offering for Grand Rapids and I'm sure people would love roasting their future families! Thanks for a great date night and I can't wait to bring friends to 4/20 show! More...

Loved the energy of the comedians! So much passion and flavor in to all of their skits, very original. My favorite part of the show were the improv pieces like the love experts and the sex talk. would love to see more of that as well as more relatable content (ie party scene vs holistic car shop). Good job to the whole team! More...

I attended a Sketch Show for the first time at The Comedy Project on a Friday night! It was a full house and tickets can be purchased at the door or beforehand. The overall ambiance was very inviting and I loved the quirky decor in the lobby area and around the stage! It reflected the sketch-style comedy we were invited to watch. As for the sketch comedy, if you are comfortable with going with the flow and enjoy getting a laugh out of slapstick style comedy, you will enjoy this! I could imagine myself stopping by here every now and then to get a different flavor of comedy.Also, props to The Comedy Project for earning their liquor license! Looking forward to seeing how they grow. More...

I had no idea that this place existed before coming here Friday night! The space is clean and modern and very well done. It was great to see the before and after pics. The show was very funny. I loved the audience interaction. So fun! My grind said that she had gone to second city a few weeks ago and it was no where as funny as last night. Looking forward to coming back and checking out some other shows. Bravo! My cheeks hurt from smiling! More...

I really appreciated the introduction to their flair of comedy and the staff's visions on what they hope to accomplish with their freshly developed home! This was our second time LOL'ing at The Comedy Project and we are confirmed fans! The most recent development to TCP was that they JUST got their license to sell alcohol at their bar! We grabbed a couple beers and a few soda waters to enjoy during the show. They also have some salty snacks for $1. The place has a solid theme of robots/futuristic atmosphere. It's clean and set up really well for what they use it for, but it's nothing fancy. I think that makes it feel very welcoming. Folding tables covered with table clothes and comfortable enough chairs to sit through an hour long show. The crew does a really great job of keeping the show moving right along... you're never bored! It's less improv and way more rehearsed skits and they do a stellar job of making it local. A good clean time with some cool folks. Cute space, fun sketch comedy. I loved doing something different and giggling at silly jokes. The Comedy Project is still a relatively new establishment and I am happy to have been apart of their first night with a liquor license . It will be fun to watch them grow! The Comedy Project is such a great addition to Grand Rapids. Â The show was so entertaining, from crown involvement, on screen "commercials" between sets, improv moments, and incredibly clever material. Â The delivery with all the comedians was spot on and really engaged the audience. Â Still laughing thinking about the "Hunters". Â Beyond the night out, Comedy Project offers classes in improv and stand up comedy. Â What a great place to start a potentially successful comedy career. Â The only thing that I would add to this venue is some better signage. Â It is a bit of a hidden treasure, and I would love to see this place packed on a daily. Â One of the most exciting news that they shared with us while we were there is that they just received their liquor license!! Â Comedy and drinks...what a great combination.
