It is with great pleasure that I write this review about Melissa Chapman, owner of The Chapman Collection. Melissa has been immersed in the world of antiques at a young age, having been raised by an antiques expert in London. Melissa opened her first shop in London when she was only 19 years old. During this time she also wrote a book on Persian carpets. “Unveiling the Mystery That Surrounds Persian Carpets.” She eventually branched out from her specialty of Persian carpet and into antiques. Melissa has not only followed in the footsteps of her mother, an antiques expert, she has also paved her own way and navigated the business, which is changing rapidly, and grow her antiques business in this day of technology. At the same time Melissa has continued that tradition of showcasing and selling fine quality antiques and craftsmanship with The Chapman Collection, which has beautiful pieces that are stand-alone works of art.Regarding the antiques and Persian carpets, Melissa is a seasoned antiques expert with over 25 years of business experience and is very knowledgeable about every piece. The pieces she carries hails from all over the world, of which she also personally travels to obtain. We recently bought a beautiful Spanish style home and wanted to decorate in a classic style fitting the home. We were so happy to find the Chapman Collection. Melissa has a beautiful curated collection of one of a kind antiques that fit the bill. She even came out to our home to help with design ideas and helped us find just what we were looking for. Her collection is stunning : furniture, beautiful Persian rugs, art, decor pieces.... she’s got it all and is extremely knowledgeable about the pieces themselves and their history which I really appreciated. Delivery was easy and convenient. We still stop by to see what new items she has in the store. The utc location couldn’t be more convenient. This place has a treasure trove of "one of a kind" antiques from all over the world. Everything from Turkish rugs to Medieval European paintings to one of kind furniture pieces can be found in this little shop tucked in the corner of UTC mall. Over the years, we have found some amazing things for our house at this shop and at reasonable prices. In addition, the owner and staff are very accommodating about letting customers try out pieces in their house before purchase. I visited Chapman collection last November. There are a lot of beautiful furniture, status and paintings etc. Actually they are look much greater than shown in the website. Among them, I found beautiful bronze fountain statues. But the problem is I’m in Seoul, Korea where 6,000 miles away from CA. And the statue is big and heavy 300 lb. However, thanks to Melissa, she arranged everything I need; packing, transport to the harbor, upload to the ship and finally arriving in my house. The packing was done with professional way and it arrived without any scratches. Of course, the price is amazingly affordable too!! I definitely recommend Melissa’s shop and her service. We wondered into The Chapman Collection while on vacation in La Jolla, we saw a beautiful English antique table desk outside Melissa's shop that caught our attention. Now, 720 miles away that beautiful desk sits in our home office!We were fortunate enough to meet Melissa when we visited her store and she led us to several beautiful pieces. We purchased the desk, an altar piece. a round entry table and a chase lounge. Wow, such beautiful furniture.Why purchase new furniture with little value when you can purchase furniture with history and elegance that will always be in demand and the envy of those visiting your home. Melissa was so helpful and accommodating ; she helped us with our selections and arranged freight to El Paso, Texas. One week after visiting her store, the pieces were delivered by her staff and placed in our home. Melissa really works at providing you great pieces at surprisingly affordable prices. This is a beautiful store with a wonderful owner. Since the moment you walk in, they greet you like family, and they teach you a little history about each of their artwork pieces, it’s like walking into a little museum that you can take home to. They are very accesible with payment options, and make it so easy to aquire a beautiful antique for you to make your home so unique. Every time I walk into the store I wanna take like half of it home with me.
