The Cajun House

Very good food here! Similiar to The Boiling Crab in Southern CA, or Hot n' Juicy Crawfish in Las Vegas. I actually like the sauce here better. Very well done, Cajun House!

Having been to and tasted many Viet-Cajun/Creole vittles during my time in Los Angeles CA, I feel comfortable enough to praise the meal I've had here. So, we headed over to DinkyTown/campus area.The scene. A new and clean building. New furniture (didn't enjoy stools with no backs so I sat in the booth side). The appropriate amount of cleanup accoutrements were available i.e. plastic bibs, plastic gloves, paper towels etc. Service.Very friendly! The server (I'll assume an owner/operator) was quick and attentive. The food.Shrimp. The 1 pound shrimp w/garlic butter was impressive, tasty and done well. The potato and corn included in the pound of shrimp were a great addition. The po'boy was yummy although a bit too much bread. The soft shell crab appetizer was so-so.Overall. Can be spendy if you're looking for a cheap meal, but worth it for the right food.Cajun is Cajun to me.  The seafood is good. Had the shrimp, mussells, corn, sausage and crab.  All tasted like how they should have.  We tried the garlic butter sauce.  It was good. Salty, garlic, rich, flavorful and a real mess once you dig in.Beef skewers: Nice char, salty, sweet, and a bitterness from the char. Really good.  I can usually contain my need for rice but not this time.  Cajun fries: Seasoning salt on top of fries.Double spicey beef noodle soup: Really good. The last time i tried the soup, it was bland.  This time tried the double spicey.  It was really good.  Salty, sweet, dark broth.  The star anise flavor is very prevalent in the dish.  The meat portions are big.  A good alternative to pho.Pork spare rib mini hot pot: Very simple and good.  Small pieces of pork spare ribs stir fried with onions and covered in an oyster/soy sauce mix.  Salty, sweet, hot in the bowl.  Meat doesn't fall off the bone but this was probably the most enjoyable dish i had there. The House Special sauce is soooooo good! If you're a person who prefers spicy food, get the spice you want! The portions are good and I'm a big person, it filled up my friend and I! We bought the $30 bag with mussels, shrimp, and clams. So good, you have to try it out if you haven't! I had the pork spare ribs hot pot. It was delicious. I'd gladly order it again. There's a bit of a wait for it compared to the beef kabobs my husband had but it was worth the wait.

I decided to check out this place with my friends after seeing a deal on groupon for this location. I am quite the crawfish/cajun snob and was really excited about this "newer" location. The waiter was extremely attentive and nice. (Considering we were really the only people in the entire restaurant, I could only expect the best.) They have preset cajun boil options that give you the best of all different types of seafood. The waiter was very nice when we asked to substitute the blue crabs for snow crabs. Considering that crawfish was out of season, the frozen crawfish was still good. This place has a slightly different flavor to their boil than other places I've been to. And I don't mean it in a bad way. They use more of a Chinese BBQ spice on their cajun boils that give the flavors a different type of kick. I actually have gone back to this place more than once now because I like the uniqueness of their flavors. Highly recommend for all seafood lovers who are looking at trying a new nice flavor! This was an awesome surprise!  Ordered lots of lamb/squid skewers and they were brought out fresh and hot (and spicy too)!   Shrimp is excellent and got the hottest level with Louisiana dry rub is a great deal and is the right level of spiciness.   Service is attentive and the food is tasty!  Will definitely be back to try other seafood and the Spicy beef soup! I've been here twice now. It's very out of the way for me now that I live in Excelsior! However, when I heard about this place, I knew I had to drive through my old town to try this place out! Got one of the combo options both times and the seafood was made perfectly in the house sauce with medium spicy level. Medium spicy wasn't very spicy at all. Great flavor in the house mix sauce. Chinese/Cajun, with seafood.  Still scratching your head?  Well we were happily surprised about how delicious the seafood boil was here!  We split the Seafood Combo 4, which was more than enough for us.  I was a little skeptical when we ordered, but I was transported back to Slidell, Louisiana and the seafood boils there when our bag of boil arrived!  The Cajun spices were spot on!Watch the hours of operations!  They close at 2:30pm and reopen later.  I saw other entrees leave the kitchen that I would like to try in the future:  Hot Pot,  BBQ, and soup! Went here for Cajun food which is hard to find. Great Cajun boil. They let me substitute calms for mussels in the Cajun combo. Overalls got a ton of food although I wish it was more then just two small slices of sausage that come with the combo. This is the closest to New Orleans seafood we have gotten! My husband loves the dry rub crawfish! They were all you can eat on Monday's! I had the boiled shrimp with garlic butter! Went to this restaurant for lunch with my husband. Very clean, staff was pleasant and food came quickly. I ordered the Lobster Roll, my husband ordered the lamb kabobs, Lobster Roll was ok, too much sauce not enough lobster but the lamb kabob was AMAZING I will order this in the future many times! And I normally don't like lamb!

Forget about 2 year old reviews - under new ownership and these folks are doing a great job! Tonight I had the king pao chicken and it was so good that I wanted to call them up and just applaud! Crazy delicious would recommend to anyone out there! One day sitting at work I was looking for something different that delivers. I came across The Cajun house on Postmates. com. I looked at the menu and since I work at the hospital My co-worker and I were debating on if we should actually get something from here because of house messy it might be. After awhile of talking among one another we decided to order. I ordered the Shrimp Skewers and the Lamb on a stick, my co-worker went with the Jumbo Cajun shrimp combo. The order came out to a decent price considering we were ordering threw a 3rd party. the order took about 25 minutes to be delivered. The food was excellent, still hot, still juicy, the packaging was great. My co-workers food came in a Bag with gloves and a Bib which was great considering we do a lot of typing and we were afraid of making a mess. The taste of the Cajun Rub and mild spice was spot on for her she said. The lamb came in a pouch it was still hot it was cooked medium well and it was still hot a juicy. We tried this place out because we got a great deal alert on T-Mobile Tuesday 50% off a local Groupon deal on top on the already great deal off of Groupon. When we got there, it was about 5pm, the place was quiet and clean. We got sat down right away and ordered our drinks. The server was fast and efficient. We've never been there so after a bit at looking at the menu, we ordered the Cajun Combo # 3, house mix with spice level medium; a total of 3.5 pounds of food (1-lb of jumbo shrimp, 1-lb of crawfish, and 1-lbs of mussels, 2 corn on the cob and 2 potatoes and deliciously mixed). We also orders the spicy Cajun wings. The wings came out first and it was deeee-licious! Next, the server brought out our bibs, plates, and chopsticks. After we finished our wings, he brought out a bucket with our bag of goodies. We dug in and it was the best Cajun mix I've ever had. I will definitely be back. I give this place 10/10!!! More...

This place was within walking distance of my hotel. I walked past the Chinese buffet restaurant planning to go to a different Chinese restaurant but the Cajun House caught my eye. I've not had much Cajun food ever, so can't provide an opinion on authenticity.The food was delicious to the point I came back a second night in a row! The noodle soup, chicken on a stick and hot pots are fantastic!The green tea cheesecake was a good adventure, and would have been better if the top half and bottom half had been the same temperature.The wait staff has been friendly and courteous and have gotten 25% or better tips for their service.If I were staying longer I would come back again. Outstanding service and food. We ordered a lot of Chinese style BBQ: beef short rib, lamb kebab, pigs feet, and Asian eggplant. We also ordered 1 lb of garlic butter mussels and 1 lb of Louisiana Cajun crawfish. The crawfish was a little bit too vinegary, the garlic butter is definitely a better choice. We asked for hot for everything and it's pretty tasty! It's pretty rare to have authentic Chinese street food in the US, so I would highly recommend it if you would like to try it out. I decided to come here with a friend for dinner on a Saturday, since it is located near the U o M. We were seated pretty quickly but it took a long while for the waiter to come by and give us water and take our order. We ordered one pound of crawfish and mussels along with some beef steak on a stick. We ordered the crawfish with the dry rub and the mussels with the garlic butter in the mild spice. When the beef steak came out it was EXTREMELY salty, maybe the chef had over seasoned it. The mussels came out first in a bucket, the garlic butter was extremely oily but personally I liked it. But when the crawfish came out. The dry rub was extremely salty and for some reason really spicy as well. It was more spicy then what you would expect when you picked the mild spice. OMG! I am absolutely blown away by this place! My boyfriend and I came in around 10 tonight (Saturday) and it was fantastic. I can't believe it's only 31.99 for a pound of crawfish, shrimp, a cluster of blue crab legs, 2 corns and 2 potatoes! Such a good deal and soooo delicious. We also got the beef on a stick and tofu and vegetables on a stick which were great as well.
