A few years ago, I was going around trying to find a stylist who could fix a haircut that had a huge step cut into it in an attempt to give me layers. I went to a different place, and the stylist there only accentuated the weird long mullet cut.I happened to come across Artistry Salon because it was near my house. Melissa had an appointment slot available, and she fixed it!! She was thoughtful and skilled in her cutting techniques, and I enjoyed our conversation, too.I've been coming back to get my hair cut by Melissa ever since. She expertly cut my hair into a pixie cut when my hair thinned significantly after a medical episode. As my hair grew out, Melissa knew exactly what to do to make it look good, until I could have my shoulder-length hair again.The salon is bright, airy, clean, and no frills. I love the clean feel and fresh smell of the Aveda products they use on my hair. I had such an amazing experience at this salon. I booked my appointment with Melissa a few weeks ago. I received a follow up call to confirm my appointment and was able to set a time the day before for a consultation. The appointment time I booked was only for two hours as it was a general hair color and I wasn't sure if I wanted to do something more specific at the time of booking it. After the consultation, I decided to go for a balayage with a darker natural tone. Unfortunately the time I booked was not enough to cover the whole process. Melissa was amazing, made sure I did not have to reschedule for another day. She worked with Erin to split the work, and managed to squeeze me in and get me out the door with a beautiful balayage just the way I wanted! Melissa took a sample hair to check if she can lift the color without bleaching prior to my appointment and it made everything smooth sailing on the day of. They are an awesome team and are very hospitable. They made sure that I was comfortable the whole time! Mind you, the process took nearly four hours and I felt right at home. I just got my hair colored their last week. My hair was a disaster from a previous color at another salon. Theresa sat down with me and definitely took her time to talk with me and in the end did a fabulous job on my hair! ! I absolutely love it!! I definitely will be back to see her again!!! Best hair salon I've been to.  Got my hair colored and it looks and feels amazing. Michelle was so awesome. They took me late and took care of this mixed girl's hair. It's bouncy and we'll behaved. Soft and glossy. The best part they only use Aveda products so I know my hair is healthy and not going top start breaking off. I started going to the Artistry Salon for over 10 years..  At the time, Teresa fixed my hair which had been frizzed from overprocessing from coloring and a perm that my previous stylist left on too long.  Over the next few years she worked with me to get great, natural looking color and a style that is versatile and flattering.  Teresa has a real gift for color and is a great instructor to her stylists.  She continues to educate herself and her stylists with ongoing classes through Aveda.Later, I started going with Erin, one of the junior stylists at the time to save money since I was coming in every three weeks to touch up my roots.  Erin is just the best and I've been going to her for many years now!  She is always so nice and accommodating and Erin does a great job on my cut, color and style - every time.  Recently, I asked for a bold blue stripe and was very pleased with the results.  She always shows me the latest in Aveda products that are appropriate for my hair but is never pushy with selling these products.  Sometimes, when I've asked for an appointment in at the last minute, Melissa would do my hair instead of Erin.  Melissa is amazing and I love the way she styles my hair.  She is also very nice and does a great job.  I would recommend her to anyone.The latest addition to the shop is the esthetician, Mia.  I had my first facial in many years,  two weeks ago.  Oh, my - it was wonderful, probably the best I've ever had!  Mia did a nice facial with minimal extractions (not painful at all) and the massage was unexpected but heavenly.  The room is really nice and the candles are relaxing.  I already scheduled a second appointment.  Mia's motivated me to take better care of my skin which has lots of sun damage. Teresa has a very professional shop and hires these amazing women.  The women in this shop are hard workers, they are very collaborative with Teresa and each other and are all very nice people that listen to your needs.  I can recommend every one of them. I had an appointment for a facial. When I walked in, I was immediately greeted by the stylist in front who asked if I had an appt.  Then she directed me to the back room where I was met by my esthetician, MIA.  Mia was AWESOME. She is very knowledgeable about the Aveda line of product and overall skincare.  I'm over 45, so she recommended some pre-wrinkle/anti-aging products and told me I need to exfoliate better.  Oh and bonus points -- with the facial they give a foot, hand or neck MASSAGE.  I opted for the foot :) and it was literally the best one ever.  She is a petite gal, but her hands are extremely strong!  I am definitely going back and might even try the hair stylist from reading the other reviews.  It's a small shop, but a little hidden gem!! I'm in love with Aveda products and I really wanted to be client of that The Artistry Salon. Teresa did my highlights once and I thought I found the right place, BUT. ...My further attempt to get an appointment turned into something way too complicated! One day I called to schedule a simple blow-dry and got a word, that Melissa will call me back, that never happened. Patience. Next day I called again, they put me on hold for 10 min and finally I dropped from call. Seriously? If you are booked out, that is ok. Just tell that! Could you, Artistry guys, have a little of respect to client's time?Upd: Finally the day before my photoshoot I got the appointment scheduled. Some miscommunication happened between stylist and receptionist and I didn't manage to make it all straight. Overall my experience was good. Melissa did perfect job styling my hair! Melissa is hands down the best hair stylist ever. I have been in Bay area for around 3 years now and went to so many salons- too expensive, bad hair color or some kind of issue. But not anymore. Melissa knows exactly what she is doing. I have had amazing root touch up and hair cut. You get 5 min hands massage if you get hair color and 5 mins head massage if you go for haircut. She completely gives her attention to you, what you want and how you want it- you get it. And best part she is right in my budget. Just love her. Cant wait for my next appointment with her. I have been going to Artistry for over (7) years. They help you make good decisions about your hair style, cuts, and color. For example, I wanted to color my hair a color that would not be complimentary with my skin tone. Instead of moving forward with the hair color, they advise me that it would not be flattering and suggested another color that I loved. The staff is caring and pays attention to their clients. Excellent and accommodating. I am a horrible planner and I called to see if they could see me same day ( keep in mind I called at 5:30 pm) for a cut and color and they went out of their way to get me in. The color was perfect and the cut was exactly what I described.It is clean, comfortable, and having been there a couple of times now I would say that the stylists have an excellent ability to realize a concept.The hand massage during the wash portion of the experience is an added bonus.I would highly recommend the Artistry if you want to have great looking ( and feeling) hair! I've watched her deal with all sorts of people over the years and she always had inifinite patience with them.
