We had the brisket and pulled pork. Both had a real nice smoked flavor. Added sauce to our liking. We travel from Garfield and it's well worth the trip.

I'm from southern Oklahoma and I know good BBQ, especially Texas BBQ. I've been to several BBQ places in NJ and the food was not that great, especially their homemade BBQ sauces. The meat isn't supposed to come to you drenched in BBQ sauce because if it does, that means it isn't good. Some places will brush sauce on the ribs in the final minutes of cooking to give it a good glaze and some added flavor if they don't use a dry rub, but it shouldn't be drowning the meat. The sliced brisket should come to you dry but have its own juices and flavor. The meat should be good on its own without sauce, and that's what you get here. The sliced brisket had great flavor and it easily fell apart when I stuck my fork into it. The ribs were also fall-off-the bone and had an excellent dry rub flavor. Their sauces, which they have mild, medium, and hot (not sure if they are homemade), were excellent and are what Texas BBQ sauces should be - thick and bold - not this runny vinegary nonsense I've had everywhere else in NJ. Granted, I don't recall if the other places claimed to serve Texas style BBQ, but the vinegar-based sauce is a Carolina style, and I have never liked it. If you want a good representation of Texas BBQ, then this is the best place I've found. It was an hour drive from me, but I go up to northern NJ a few times a month, so I'll definitely come back when I want good BBQ. More...

I'm a big fan of ribs, and this place has the best ribs I have ever eaten in my life. So tender, so juicy, hot, sweet, cooked to perfection. I had a nibble of the ribs without the sauce, and they were so smokey sweet I could have eaten them without the sauce. (The sauce was awesome though, thick and sweet, which is how I like it, the medium sauce was very spicy, and I didn't even try the hot sauce, but my father couldn't stop eating it! I thought he was going to eat it with a spoon!) I thought the coleslaw was kind of bland. But I didn't go there for the coleslaw.They seemed a little understaffed, so we had to wait a little bit for service. However the server was extremely friendly, apologetic for the slow service, and he took good care of us.I feel we got good value for our money. Especially for the high quality ribs!I would have rated this place four stars, because not every aspect of our experience was perfect, however the ribs were honestly so good, and so juicy, and the server was so friendly, that I would absolutely go back here again.
