Amazing experience! When I waked in Hala greeted us and she was so lively and accommodating. We were in the search of a bar/happy hour menu. Very pleasantly surprised by this place. I came here over presidents day weekend because it was one of the few reservations left on short notice (not usually a great sign), but we ended up having an absolutely delicious dinner with great service! Started with the smashed avocado (its just guac but it was still good) and had the short rib as an entree. What a cool fun spot for Aspen!! I tend to get tired of the same old menus that Aspen has to offer but TATANKA has really spiced it up! I especially love the crab tostada! YUM!!! I recently sat at the bar and had the most amazing convo with the bartender. It turns out he is related to a childhood friend! Now how crazy is that?!? If you're looking for a hearty, delicious meal in a relaxed setting, this is where it's at in Aspen!My husband and I came here because so many other Aspen restaurants looked. ..well, stuffy. We wanted FOOD after a full day of skiing. Tatanka did not disappoint. Our meals were delicious! I ordered the short rib and he got the snapper, and I'm not sure which was better. Both were perfectly cooked and full of flavor. And the shoestring onion rings are a can't miss! Plus a great beer list.The décor is western eclectic but cozy. The bar is the perfect spot to pull up and relax - wouldn't mind stopping in here for an apres ski beer and appetizer. The bar has large TVs to watch the game, but is distinct from the dining room if you don't want the interruption. Only minor complaint was service-related. Our first server was cut ~10min after we were seated, and the transition was clunky. We repeated our drinks orders, and never heard the specials (we overheard them later from someone seated nearby). Our flight ran late, and we were going to miss our reservation, but the hostess graciously moved us to a later time slot. Â We were happy to get a spot even though we were very cramped where we were seated . Â I got the impression that the table we ended up with was not the one they originally planned for us. Came for drinks.. so sweet that they have a drink for the aspen animal shelter during the busiest time of year. I tried one and it was amazing! Brioche Toast was fantastic!!! We came here 3 times when my sister visited Aspen because she will only eat at restaurants that have humanely and sustainably sources meats and eggs. She loved Tatanka. Heather was our waitress once and she was awesome. Very happy and attentive. The Juevos Divorcidas eggs were a big hit with my husband and brother in law too. Definitely will be coming back. I had the chilaquiles here this morning and I think it was the best I've ever had in my life! Very flavorful, not too spicy, and the shredded chicken was marinated perfectly. It was fantastic - easy 10/10

Our first timehere and everything was wonderful. Smashed avocado app was delish. My husband had the enchiladas and said they were the best he has ever had. That is saying something since we live in Dallas. Â The bison burger with the aioli was very flavorful and juicy. The fried thin and crispy. Our waitress, Jill, was fantastic. The food was amazing - but I loved the fact that the servers have a list of all the ingredients (which was very helpful given we are both gluten free). Excellent ! Great selection of drinks and wine. I ordered the petite tender with fries. Fries too salty but the pesto aioli and the steak with the peppercorn, fantastic. The atmosphere is lovely too.

Prices are a little high but the food is worth it. The burgers are delicious and the fries are served with an amazing jalapeño sauce. The only problem was I had to keep asking for water refills. The food is very good. The crispy chicken is good but the chicken needs more seasoning. I love the feel of this restaurant. The crispy onion strings are awesome. The desert is all amazing it is soooo delicious the ice cream is amazing as well as the churros. The one down fall is since it is new service time is not the quickest. Tatanka is a great new addition to the Aspen food scene. Not only is the food incredible - the wagyu short rib grilled cheese is honestly one of the best sandwiches I' ve ever eaten; the jalapeño slaw that accompanied it crisp, spicy, and refreshing. The Provençal rosé paired very nicely with the richness of the short rib grilled cheese. Can't wait to come back and try the rest of the menu! Also, the restaurant décor is above and beyond. From the floor tile and bathroom design, to the bar (where I ate) and lighting, someone with impeccable taste designed this space. And service was awesome to boot. 11/10 - Highly recommend. More...
