I'm a big fan of the Taste of the World Market! It's not as big as the Off the Grid events, but they still have a good amount of food trucks and vendors for the choosing. I usually stop here when I'm taking Bart and don't already have dinner plans. This market takes places in several different spots around CoCo county, but I usually catch them at the Pleasant Hill Bart station on Friday nights. They have live music and lawn chairs out during the warmer months, and they usually have at least one truck that serves up the brews and booze. I'd say that on a good day, you'll probably spot about 5-6 food trucks out in the lot. They're constantly rotating and they usually mix it up with the cuisines, so it never feels like your options are stagnant. If you frequent the Off the Grid then you know that most of these food trucks ain't cheap. However, I don't mind splurging on the trucks every once in a while (especially when free live entertainment is involved. This is also a great place to bring the kiddos since they usually have family games and activities going on. For a recurring local event, I really dig the Taste of the World Market. When I don't feel like making the trek out to the bigger food truck events, this one definitely fits the bill. More...

They get some pretty good trucks coming through here, and it's a pretty good spot to sit and eat some food truck food. Haven't tried the beer truck yet, would like to one day though.

YES! YES! YES! Oh this is such a convenient thing to have. Especially near bart. The food trucks vary from Thursday and Friday and some flood trucks seem to be more consistent at this location than others. Definitely a good spot to grab a bite on the way to Bart or home listen to great music, meet new people, people watch... and so on. More...

The Taste of the World Market is a setup of food trucks right next to the Pleasant Hill BART Station, perfect for a post-commute meal to revive the soul and stomach. It definitely didn't have the summer-y, relaxing food truck event vibe that I'm used to, given that I ate here on a cold January night, but there were a lot of seats and tables available. Despite the frigid weather (for the Bay Area), there were still a decent number of people out, including families and people with dogs (many of the dogs rocked some sick light up collars I was impressed). There were six food trucks, which was just enough to make it hard to decide what to eat. The selection of food trucks varies depending on the day.I ended up ordering the Samosa Rolls (vegetarian) from Sandwico del Mundo. They were really tasty, with sauces on top of the samosa rolls (kind of like samosa filling inside of an large egg roll skin?) that provided extra flavor but did not sog down the crispiness of the samosa roll. I was eyeing the banh mi's at a truck across the way... next time.Overall, the Taste of the World Market is a really convenient way to grab some cheap and tasty food from the food trucks (most of which are local!). I am definitely a fan, and I especially want to come back when the nights are longer and it's a little less dreary out -- I feel like the atmosphere/environment of the market could only get better (and it was perfectly enjoyable as it was). 5 stars, would return! Easy and convenient place to grab dinner on a Friday night.  Located immediately after you exit Pleasant Hill BART is Taste of the World Market.  They always have Lucky 13 (beer/wine/cider truck), some kind of dessert truck, and a few different dinner style trucks.  I enjoy that it is walking distance from my place and a fun way to start off my Friday evening.  The meals at a food truck are always a little more than I'd like to spend but that's part of the dig.  Something I love about Taste of the World Market is they not only bring chairs but tables for the event as well.  You might have to ask to share or find creative spots in the area to eat but it always works out.  They also hire their own DJ which ranges from comedic to easy going listening. Who say's that Off the Grid has to have all the food truck fun? It seems like now the.."Food Truck" thing is taking off and hitting the U. S. with a bang! I would like to say that that show "The Great Food Truck Race" on Food Network helped with that craze that is sweeping the nation, but "Food Trucks" have been around for a long time. And I'm not just talking about your run of the mill "Taqueria on Wheels" I'm talking about full fledged restaurants on wheels. It nice now in days to know we have events that have some available now in days or..event's that just cater to them all together. Well it was a pleasant surprise to bump into Taste of the World Market because I had no clue that it even was something that..happened. Anywho enough of the introduction, here is my review.6/17/16I had to make a quick pitstop in Pleasant Hill to drop off some paperwork to a friend of mine. I had no clue as to why all of a sudden I seen a mass amount of people getting on and off trains headed in both directions at the P. Hill Bart Station. I decided to take a peek off the platform and I seen why instantly....Food Trucks and Music! So knowing the adventurous "Yelper" that I am now in days, their wasn't any chance that I was going to just walk past this event and not take a couple of snap shots and put in my two cents. I didn't eat anything on this trip so my review is solely on the event itself.Location 4/5Set Up 5/5Vibe 4/5The Event:Taste of The World Market is like another OTG, in fact at one time they did use to host an OTG ( Off the Grid) in this location briefly. Oh this day that I went they had a singer with a guitar, and about 6 food trucks that had "Food" 1 that had "Ice Creams and Custard" and 1 that had assorted Beers, Wine and Non Alcoholic beverages. Which I think making the event for this reason alone near a Bay Area Rapid Transit.."Bart" station is a great idea. They host the event in the "Harvey Drive" little turn about of sorts between the Bart Station and the little small businesses and condos adjacent both places. In my opinion it's a way small area to accommodate an event like this, It made the all about ambiance and vibe seem kinda crammed and rushed. And the seating was very limited, so maybe bringing your own portable chair would be a nice and useful option if you plan to visit. The food selection was pretty nice, all the trucks that were here are ones that I haven't seen before be it OTG or other similar events. So that was an all around plus for me. The crowd didn't seem to much to mind picture taking and question asking because I did a bit of both and even heard the occasional "He must be a Yelper" This place also provides a family friendly atmosphere. So the "Little Ones" may be able to find something to eat or do here as well! Will I go Back?Yes I will, and next time I do plan to eat. Who knows, maybe I have to make a pitstop before one of the "SF" trips to make sure that I have some food in my belly. The convenient location as well will ensure that I will be able to eat and get back on the train in route to where I need to go in a progressive manner. In Conclusion, I highly recommend this event to everyone that lives this side of the East Bay Area, I even recommend it to those that like to just be fun seekers and just let the wind take them to their next adventure. This place is what I would like to call borrowing from my slogan..A "One Bart Train at a Time" kinda place. The fun happens on Thursday 11am - 2pm or Friday 5pm - 9pm. But with some alternations in the time, so be aware of that if you plan to visit, checking their website tasteoftheworldmarket.com or following them on social media Facebook, Instagram and Twitter @towmarket may help as well. As always, "Yelp" your own experience! More...

This event brings entertainers and food trucks from across the bay together for a night of fun on Friday's and an afternoon of food coma on Thursdays that you can guarantee will spice up your pallet with the amount of multi-cultural cuisine this event has to offer.I never thought I would like food trucks more than restaurants, but the amount of personality each one of these trucks have is unbelievable, not to mention the event itself with the music, performers, and fellow diners, this event will not fail to deliver a truly unique night. Came here to review the new Friday Happy Hour event thrown by Taste Of The World Market, in the Town Center park across from Avalon Walnut Creek and the Pleasant Hill BART station. TOTWM has been sponsoring the gathering of food trucks in this spot for several months now on Thursdays, during lunch hour, attracting people from Avalon - the complex where I live, from the surrounding offices, other apartment communities, and people going to and from BART.  Convenience-wise, you couldn't ask for better.  The DJ who plays the background music does a fairly good job of mixing it up most of the time, and as far as the food itself and the pricing? Each experience I've had has been as varied as the trucks are...and those experiences have mostly been positive, which is the good news.I've even been going to them long enough to have zeroed in on two favorites in particular:  YUMMI BBQ, which sells lumpia that I have now become hopelessly addicted to, and the LOS ALTOS taco and Mexican truck, which serves the best tacos, burritos and tostadas around, and at a great value. Now the food truck gathering has been extended to Friday evenings for "Happy Hour", starting this past Friday, and I have to tip my hat to whomever came up with this, because it couldn't be timelier! An event that attracts a wide demographic, raises the profile of the food trucks and gives you something to do close to home on a Friday night, that doesn't involve staying in and ordering pizza? Applause, applause! The evening was cool but not cold - perfect early Fall weather, and it put us in the mood to try something new (my other half works in the City, and so he usually misses the action on Thursdays.)After getting some wine and beer - another great point about Friday Happy Hour! - we settled on snagging some grub from the SAVOURIE STREETS truck, one I hadn't tried before.  Bear loved his Steak and Jack sandwich, which did look good, while I dug into my Pulled Pork BBQ and Slaw on a bun.  It was a little on the drippy, greasy side, but what good BBQ isn't a little messy?  We had chips to go with, but all that I felt was really missing was fries, and unfortunately, there were no trucks around selling those at the time. But you can't be that combination.  The food was good, the music decent (and they had a live violinist just after we left) and the weather was cooperative.  I would make this a "happening" to put on my calendar every Friday if they continue it, and I hope they decide to do just that. A week ago I was taking care of some personal business with CALPERS, and noticed the food trucks in the plaza across the street from the Pleasant Hill BART Station.  I thought it was OTG, but a gentleman (owner of Kenny's Heart and Soul) from one of the food trucks told me it was Taste of the World Market.I browsed around briefly and didn't sample any of the goodies from the food trucks that were there. Besides, my honey-do wanted to head back home to Alameda. There were at least six food trucks and, of course, a DJ in the mix/in the "house" - outdoor under an open-air tent. Music was mainly dance jams from the 80's (not quite old school, but close enough).  For me, old school is going back to the 50's, 60's and 70's...doo wop, Chuck Berry, Little Richard, Motown funk, R&B (Chi-town, Philly sound, Memphis), CCR, Kool and the Gang and yeah, disco...lol.The following trucks were there last week:Lexie's selling fresh frozen custard (local handmade organic);Streatery, "serving glorious peasant food" - oxtail and grits (interesting combo);Grab&Go, I didn't check out what they were serving (salad?);El Rancheros Taqueria selling burritos, quesadillas, tostadas, etc.;Street Dog Truck, serving hot dogs, sausage sammies, fries, coleslaw, etc.; andKenny's Heart and Soul, sold out on the fried chicken wingettes and bbq riblettes, but had the side dishes of collard greens with smoked turkey, spicy bbq baked beans and vegetarian options of mac 'n cheese, potato salad and sweet potatoes fries.I could have done the review on Taste of the World Market last week, but I wasn't quite ready and the encounter was a brief one (let say about 10 minutes) - not enough for me to give a first "hands-on" experience.  (Hey, another thing, I did not want Yelp to send me that certain email, notifying me that my review has been removed due to lack thereof.)Earlier this afternoon, I had to return to CALPERS to finalize my personal business with them.  Yippee, the food trucks were there, but different ones.Savourie Streets, serving sammies, hoagies, salad, mac 'n cheese, orzo pasta and single meatball ($5 - and how big is that meatball?);United Bites, and I did not see a menu board and/or a paper menu;Street Dog Truck again;Sliders Truck, serving various sliders, fries, beverages. I decided on a $7.00 meal deal (lunch time) - Rocky Jr. Buttermilk Fried Chicken (4 stars), fries (3.5 stars) and a bottle of Dasani water, which was a reasonable value; andTutto Bene Gelateria, serving gelato, sorbetto, semifreddo. I will have to check out their website for locations of this truck. The Rocky Jr. Buttermilk Fried Chicken slider was delish. Moist, tender chicken with a hint of chili-honey and coleslaw served on a fresh mini slider bun - actually finger licking good.  French fries weren't greasy, but a bit salty. Also, there is plenty of seating around in the plaza to just enjoy the weather (during the summer) and the musical entertainment.  I haven't explored what the parking situation is like, but Taste of the World Market is conveniently located across the street from BART and quite a place to hang out, chill and groove to the music on a Thursday afternoon.  As the back of the Tutto Bene Gelateria truck says, Ciao.  I will return in the future for my suburban outing. Wow, where do I start...  The official opening day of Food Truck Thursday is here at Taste of the World Market located next to the Pleasant Hill BART station.  They had seven food trucks, a rockin' DJ playin' a mix of 80s and todays music (a tad bit loud even for outdoors). The ladies of the Contra Costa Centre handing out free lunch coolers and shopping bags to the first 400 people that ate here.  They even popped some balloons to celebrate, but unintentionally :)  And there was even one lone stand for "organic produce" delivered at your doorstep; Notably called Doorstep Farmers. Now lets talk about the food trucks:  ~ I started with Yummi BBQ, an asian-tacos-n-koreanshortribs kinda place.  Thus far, I've only tried the set of three tacos (3 for $8).  I loved the spicy beef taco.  While the chicken taco was just OK, not as fancy, but still good.  I'll try the pork adobo and shortribs next time.   ~ Then went to Go Streatery, or The Streatery... winner!  Loved the tender fall off the bone Ox Tail and Grits ($12).  So so tender and worth it!   It was the BEST thing out there!  Oh, and their Jasmine Mint Lemon Ice Tea ($2) was simply refreshing!    ~ Then tried the Mac N Cheese ($4) from Kenny's Heart & Soul... Wow, buttery and peppery goodness!  The mac was soft and cheesy enough to satisfy your palate!I've yet to try the Grab & Go Kabob, as well as the El Rancheros, or the Street Dogs, but I'll be back!  Oh yeah, and for dessert, there is Lexie's Frozen Custard.  Oh and one final note, some of the trucks DO take Square if you don't have cash. Now, I'm not sure if the Contra Costa Transit Village Farmers Market will return, but they usually took place on Wednesday.  I am however loving the new set up event of food trucks now on Thursdays!  Come give it a try!
