As a first time patron, I was surprised at how warm my welcome was from the staff who were clearly busy with other customers. The vibe is very laid back, and the service is high quality and quick. The seating is plentiful and comfortable, and my food was fantastic! (I recommend the white cheddar Mac n cheese, nachos, or bruschetta!)My margarita was top notch (I asked for strawberry and got real strawberry's in mine, no syrup alternative)I highly recommend for anyone who enjoys good service, people watching near the water, & quality tasty eats.Cheers! So... we did Taps in a Saturday night while in a rush to see a show at the Straz. Overall, it wasn't the absolute best, but it was pretty decent. They were BUSY (apparently everyone there was there for the Straz) and although we were in/out in under an hour, that was because we literally ordered drinks, food, and the check all at once. Drinks sucked. Food varied, but was decent overall. Price seemed high, but was standard for downtown. Old fashions - quality cherry, the rest of the drink was lacking. Taps has a fair amount of beer on tap and bottle. The service was great and the beer I got was really good. It's located close to the art museum and the waterfront park. If you like beer and is located in downtown Tampa, this is a good place to go to enjoy a couple of beer. Might come back to try the food, another day. More...

Taps was a great find among the Tampa downtown restaurants and bars.Service was very friendly, the atmosphere is upscale/top notch, without carrying a $30 price tag for their menu options. They have a meal for just about everyone on their menu. They do not serve the typical gastropub/bar food. I ordered their Gyro at lunch and it was a large Gyro, well presented, wonderful taste, and well presented. First thing I loved about when we walked in was one of the waitresses said sit where you want. I'm a person that likes picking where I sit so that made me happy. We had a party of 4 and the big booth in the corner was free so we sat there where we would have plenty of room. I ordered the shandy cocktail which was amazing! It was so light and refreshing! And not bad for $8! My friend ordered the cocktail that had a B in the name (sorry can't remember) and she also said hers was very good. It was in a rather small glass though for $10. We shared the pretzel and the nachos with chicken. Both were good. We requested both the beer cheese and mustard on the pretzel, which they provided no problem and was tasty. The nachos had mounds of sour cream, salsa, and guacamole, which for me is like heaven. Another friend at the table ordered the fish sandwich. The waitress forgot to ring it up so she needed to remind her. She said the sandwich was okay. It tasted like a bunch of things just thrown onto a sandwich and some of the flavors didn't make sense. She wouldn't order it there again. Apps were good and service was fairly quick despite it being fairly busy. It was right next to Curtis Hixon, which is where we were going after so that was super convenient. I'd try it again for a regular meal and see! More...

I have been coming to this Taps for years. I love their remodeled look. The have really stepped up their food menu and the place is very inviting. They also have some of the best high chairs and the place is pretty kid friendly. You honesty can't go wrong with any food option. Their salads, chicken sandwiches, fish tacos, pretzels are all good!! This is a definite staple downtown for a quick drink with friends or a bite to eat. I came to this place a couple months ago with a big group to celebrate my graduation and all I can say is that everything was excellent. the ambience was perfect, the food and drinks were amazing, we all loved it .
