To me, everything about a buffet is awesome. Everything about an Indian buffet, especially one with a variety of delectable and spicy dishes, is incredible. With various curries and assortment of chutney's, as well as vegetarian options (not that I need them, the chicken was deliscious) I went back until tears were at the corner of my eyes. We went to tamarind for dinner on thanksgiving,the ambiance was very authentic and for split second I felt like I was in India. The dishes were each unique but still connected,I find that if I go to Indian restaurants in Virginia they always tend to lack Indian flavor,Tamarind however has the Indian flavor.The service was great and overall a very nice place to dine at.If you have grand parents that are from India or anyone in general who is interested in Indian food it would be a great place to take them since they might be a little hesitant about trying it. After years of being forced to Indian restaurants with family and not enjoying the food, I decided to try Tamarind for my first voluntary taste of Indian cuisine. One of the best Indian restaurants in the Sterling, VA area. Have been here for more than 5-6 times now, was never let down with the consistency, ambience and amazing taste. I was super impressed on my visit to Tamarind this evening! The staff was very knowledgeable about the menu and our waiter was explaining different items and giving recommendations, all of which were perfect! Everything we had tonight was seasoned well and delicious and you can tell that the staff is passionate about their cuisine and hold their customer satisfaction at a high level! There monthly specials are definitely the way to go and this would be a perfect restaurant for someone who is new to Indian cuisine! More...

LOVE their fun 'Adventure' menu addition. That's where I found the "Liche" drink. Wonderful drink! I kept my umbrella that came with it. We ordered the flavorful Butter Chicken and spicy Lamb Vindaloo with rice and plain and garlic naan bread. Service was wonderful, kind and attentive. Wonderful atmosphere and even better food.  Went there with family and friends for dinner and were blown away by the restaurant size, layout, and the staff.  The waiter recommended a host of dishes the place specializes in.  The Baby Corn Chili, Onion Pakora and Kachori were amazing.  I ordered the Chicken 65 and I would say hands down it was the best I've ever had.  I also sampled another member of our party's Goat Pepper Fry.  It was incredible.Highly recommend to all.   Not very expensive and the setting is fantastic.  I'll definitely go back again and again. Delicious food, modern and airy ambiance, and great customer service. I stopped by here last week on a business trip because I had a taste for Indian food. I actually went elsewhere first, but had a poor experience, so ended up here instead. What a find! First thing I noticed was the bright, open layout of the restaurant - very modern and tastefully trendy. I was greeted pleasantly as soon as I walked in, and the great customer service continued throughout my whole dining experience. And the food was delicious! Tamarind did catering for our event for 300 people in Maryland. They did amazing job setting up food and food came extraordinarily good. They paid attention to each and every detail. Everyone loved it and said this party food is the best they have tasted in recent years. Venkat took his time, paid attention to everything and made sure to bring out the best flavors. Under new ownership and management. New owner promises an updated menu, but for now the menu remains as excellent as it always was. The wine pours remain generous, the app/entree prices remain fair for white-tablecloth restaurant. It should be a go-to place for gourmands. The taste/flavor is "complex." Had been to tamarind for dinner last night. Wow. What an amazing experience it was. The ambience is so rich and grand. Everyone over there is so cordial and warm and serve you with great hospitality. Coming to the food, we ordered pepper chicken fry, chicken 65, chicken Manchurian and chicken lollipops for appetizers and sweet corn chicken soup. They were cooked to perfection and extensively rich in taste with perfect blend of Indian spices and the presentation was so beautiful and every dish will tickle your taste buds and leave you wanting for more. Must say that they taste exactly like in a fine dining restaurant back In Hyderabad and Bangalore. We ordered chicken dum biriyani and goat dum biriyani. They tasted very authentic and yummy will definitely go again for biriyani Chicken chettinad is another dish which we just loved. Desserts are the icing on the cake. Yummylicious. I cannot believe that someone compared this place to Choola's in the reviews on YELP.  Choola's is the Indian version of Chipotle.  This place is FINE Dining.White table cloths, cloth napkins, attentive & knowledgeable wait staff Went there mid week (3/July) with the wife and two of her adult children, one with date.EVERYONE raved about the food.  The service was flawless.Between four entrees and three apps, and one dessert,  no one had a negative thing to say.As always, they pack up the leftovers for you.  As always, the wine pours ($6 house merlot) were generous.  I have been to maybe a dozen Indian restaurants.   this one is far superior on every metric.  I have had about 3/4+ of the menu.  NEVER been disappointed. Only problem I have is that there are TOO many exciting choices.  Even vegetarian choices.Oh, yeah.  One of the daughters is gluten free.  The wait staff was familiar, and steered her towards GF options.I suspect that the next printing of the menu will include a GF page, or GF asterisks.You should go there.  It is also a great date place- good ambiance, NICE decor.  Your date will be impressed.
