We had an absolutely delicious dinner of Lamb Korma and Lamb Vindaloo served with basmati rice and cheese nan.  The highlight of our meal was bartender Karan's tri-spiced Mango Martinis.  As longtime Ashland residents we've had myriad outstanding dinners in our small, special, tourist/university town.  This one ranks among the very best! This is my ABSOLUTE favorite place to eat. The buffet options are endless and the vegetarian selection in the buffet is better than most other Indian restaurants. I highly recommend.

So glad we chose Taj for our dinner.  The food was excellent--every bite was delicious.  Our server, Karan, was efficient and courteous and made sure the meal arrived steaming hot and exactly as ordered (medium spice). We have eaten here before late one night and the food was amazing but they were about to close so it was quiet. Tonight was amazing food, along with a wonderful environment and great service. Karan was our waiter and he was both friendly and so helpful with our orders. This is by far the best indian food I have had since moving from the east coast. The butter chicken was made to perfection and the mint chutney was the best I have had in a long time. If you are craving indian food go here. Also the mango lassi we got there was the best I have ever had. Most of the time they have an odd taste to them but not this one. I wish I had all their recipes but since I dont I will happily eat here again and refer my friends. Service is also excellent!! More...

This is a beautiful restaurant with a good lunch buffet. You can order from the menu too. The food is well prepared, seasoned (not too hot) and well presented. In 2017/2018 I wrote a glowing review of Taj and I'm happy to say that Taj just gets better with time.  The flavors are refined, rich and delicious.  The vegetable preparations (I'm mostly vegetarian) are amazingly fresh and perfectly spiced.  All of the service personal are kind, attentive, friendly and professional. Karan, our usual server continues to be terrific.  And now, as I understand it, he has both bartending and management duties.  Always welcoming, he's always there with a smile and another cup of chai!  The food continues to be excellent.  Indian is my favorite cuisine.  I've been enjoying  it and cooking it for over 40 years!  The dishes at Taj are organic, always fresh, authentic and beautifully spiced.  I've sampled all of their vegetarian offerings from the unique dishes like their special Broccoli or Gobi Manchurian, to the more standard fair such as Baingan Bhartha and Saag Paneer.  All have been delicious and (having traveled to India) most authentic.  The atmosphere is lovely and relaxed.   A great restaurant.  Once you try it, you'll be back! I absolutely love their buffets! Everything is labelled so your know what's in it and whether its gluten-free, dairy-free, vegan, etc. I always order a side of gf naan which costs extra but is definitely worth it. They use organic ingredients and good oils from what I've been told so it's not just a bunch of over processed slop like most all-you-can-eat buffets. They are very attentive and change out the food items before they get too low so you're never left scraping the last bits. The servers are always very welcoming and cheerful and always clear your plate while your in line getting your next round so you're not scrunched for room on the table. I'm more of a food tourist than anything else. Passing through Ashland, I flipped a coin on where to go and settled on this place. I hadn't been here in many years, but remembered liking the food in middle school. The food is every bit as good as I remembered it, and has a full section of vegetarian options. I stopped in here yesterday after my visit to Blue Giraffe Spa :-). I ordered raita, papadums and shrimp vindaloo. Wow, everything was just delicious and the sauces fantastic and plentiful. I don't know why I have waited so long to try this place, as I do love Indian food and I think this place has been here for a long time. I look forward to returning to try some of my faves, as I saw them on the menu. The service was prompt and responsive and the food arrived quickly. So far, so good! Amazingly delicious food that you can smell as soon as you walk in the door.  We were seated immediately and the waiter offered recommendations that did not disappoint.  We ordered dishes in mild, medium, and spicy as well as regular and garlic naan and our party of four was very satisfied.
