Special thanks to Dee- the owner of swell beauty I called Dee days before my wedding in a complete panic because my wedding hair and makeup trial with another salon did NOT go as planned. She calmed me down over the phone, sounded incredibly knowledgeable, assured me that she could create any wedding look that I wanted and even went a step further by texting me vendors for wedding flowers and wedding photography. One day prior to my wedding, Dee emailed me a detailed wedding timeline letting me know exactly when my hair and makeup would be started and completed. Dee emailed me the night before and the morning of my wedding to assure me she would be there on my wedding day. That simple act of kindness went a LONG way to settle my nerves. Dee showed up on-time with an arsenal of makeup, hair styling tools and a makeup artist chair. She transformed my bridal suite into a professional makeup studio in a matter of minutes. Before I knew it I felt like a movie star! Dee kept my Champaign glass filled and made me laugh with her fantastic humor, great conversation and positive energy. I felt completely at ease and told her to just do her makeup magic. When I looked in the mirror for the first time I nearly fell backwards with amazement! My hair was just brilliant, exceeding all of my expectations! And my makeup was on-point and my eyebrow game was on fleek. Not only did Dee create exactly the look I wanted, she added to my vision making me look better then I ever imagined. Dee is truly an artist! Dee jumped into action helping me put my wedding dress on and my wedding jewelry. She advised me that a first-look between my fiancé and I would be a great idea and was by my side blotting my tears and keeping my makeup fresh as I looked at my soon to be husband for the first time in his suit. I absolutely LOVED working with Dee! She did my hair and makeup for my wedding (as well as a few events leading up to the big day) and I felt so beautiful all day. She does an incredible job with both hair and makeup and is super creative. We played around with different braids, up do's, long waves and more for my trial, engagement photos, bridal shower, rehearsal and my wedding day. She was able to do something different and equally stunning each time. She is so sweet and easy to spend time with, makes you laugh and feel so comfortable with the whole process and is flexible with trying something new and adding or changing things of your final look. She and a team member worked on me, my MOH and MOB for the wedding day and her other team members did my mother and sister in laws. Dee is the best you're going to get and that's the 100% truth. I've been in numerous weddings and had my hair and makeup done quite a bit over the years and there is always an issue, so save yourself the agony and book Dee and her team. I could go on and on but I'll give you the cliffs notes. Dee is a professional. She has been doing this a long time and she is incredibly talented and she holds her team to the same standard. You can actually show her a picture of what you want and she will make it happen. She doesn't get stressed out, she listens to your feedback and delivers. Dee made the trek to Yosemite to do my hair & makeup for our intimate wedding, and I could not have had a better experience with her! Her communication prior to our wedding day was thorough & proactive. On the day of, she was on-time (early, even!) and was so fun to chat with while she got me ready. She even helped my mom & sister as they made my bouquet. I looked and felt beautiful because of her work. What else can I say besides WOW!! Dee and Phaithe rocked my world. I can honestly say I have never felt more gorgeous in my entire life than I did on my wedding day. I used Swell Beauty for my wedding this past April, Dee did my hair and makeup for both my rehearsal and wedding, Phaithe and Rebecca did my bridesmaids, moms, and a few close friends that weren't in the wedding party but that I wanted to be a part of the "getting ready process". All of us were SO happy with how our hair and makeup turned out. Not only is Swell Beauty extremely professional and talented, their team is an absolute blast to have around on the big day. I used swell beauty for both my engagement photos and wedding day - they were amazing. I never wear my hair up but they did such a wonderful job at my trial I actually wore it up for the entire wedding. MAkeup was great. I wanted a natural but contoured look, no heavy eyeshadow or anything like that, and they absolutely delivered. All my bridesmaids hair (half up, half down) looked beautiful. The moms both had short hair, and they looked incredible. I would definitely recommend them for hair/makeup. Dee is super easy to work with, we changed our date and the hair styles a couple times and she was so accommodating. Okay this review is long overdue BUT swell beauty did hair and makeup for my entire bridal party and they did an amazing job! Couldnt have asked for a better hair and makeup team. My makeup was seriously FLAWLESS. I did not want to take my makeup off at the end of the night but my husband did sing that 'reflection' song from Christina Aguilera as I did. If I could give them more than 5 stars I would! From the beginning, Dee was beyond helpful with coordinating all of my girls and the hair and make-up we needed done. She listened to all of my likes and concerns during my trial and came up with the most beautiful make up style just for me. On the big day, her and her team made my girls look and feel beautiful! Dee and Phaithe did my hair and makeup for 2 different ceremonies and took such great care and attention to detail with both days. They were amazing with juggling a room full of girls and were both engaging and dynamic, accommodating and flawlessly stuck the girls to the schedule (which I know could have easily gone over)! Dee is so wonderful and fun to work with! I found her through Instagram and researched different wedding websites to check her reviews. They're all great! I did not find one negative comment and that says a lot! I also like that she post her work online and give credit to her brides. She was very responsive and accommodating of the changes I had to make until the day of the wedding. All my bridesmaids, the moms and sisters who got their make-up done, loved her and Phaithe. I had a trial a couple months before the wedding and I was honest with Dee and her team about how I felt and what I wanted to change and they were receptive and responsive to everything. We used Swell Beauty for a wedding ceremony on the beach. All of the bridal party was from out of state and had flown in the day of the wedding. Time was very limited as we arrived at 3 and the ceremony was at 6:00 pm. Dee was so unbelievably helpful with the logistics. We arrived at our hotel and were met by Dee who set up an amazing selection of makeup. She finished hair and makeup within an hour and a half. Let me say this about Dee- she is the most wonderful lady. You will leave feeling not only beautiful but like you made a new best friend. When I looked in the mirror after my hair and makeup was completed I could not believe how beautiful I looked. She did such a perfect job. While talking to Dee she discovered that a photographer hadn't been hired since it was for a small elopement ceremony. She asked if she could take photos for us so that we would have them in the future. She came with us, took the most amazing photos and shared this special moment with us. As for their ability to work with our hair, they were also brilliant. My daughter has long hair which she wore up, It was gorgeous. And my hair looked thick even though it is not.
