My husband & I tried the chicken Philly sandwich ... (not sure if that was the exact name) but it was good ! We both customized ours differently and both were gooood.

Man. What a disappointment you guys have become. I’ve been ordering my mom’s birthday lunch from you every year since 2014. I used to phone it in, from Georgia, and have it delivered. I would tell the employee on the line that it was my mom’s bday and as you’d expect, I’d get a warm reception and even “happy birthday mom” written on the paper sack, without even asking. But after the service I received yesterday on her birthday, like my mom said, who needs you! I told the guy who answered the phone I’d like to order a BLT for my mom’s 84th bday lunch and that I’ve been ordering her bday lunch from you guys for years now. You’d expect some form of response-maybe an ‘oh that’s great’ or at least a thank you for choosing Surfwich for her special day. But I got complete silence. Then I told him that I have paper sacks saved from past orders when you guys would write “happy birthday mom”. Again, silence. Then, after years of ordering and paying on the phone during the time I lived in Ga, I said I’d like to pay over the phone and he gave no friendly tone as he told me you don’t take payments over the phone. I called my mom from work to tell her to find somewhere better to go get her bday sandwich and that we would not order from Surfwiches again. I don’t know what the guy’s problem is but I tell you what, he infuriated me enough to take the time to write this review. Btw, despite hearing a complaint from a well-known local, about you, I went ahead and kept on with tradition. Never again after such a disgraceful response to me choosing you. More...

This is hands down one of the hidden gems of Jax. I found this spot by happenstance. I was dead set on Sandwiches but didn't want the generic chain spots. This came up and it was well off the beaten path. The location seems a little iffy at first but once you're inside the staff are awesome. Extremely friendly and helpful. Service time is extremely fast. I don't think I've had a better Philly anywhere else. The Turkey club was also outstanding! Will definitely return here. More...

I had stopped at the bakery in the shopping center next door...  I was hungry and from the exterior it looks like a really cool mom and pop shop. ..It isn't... the menu sits above the door and not within view upon walking in... I had peeped the menu online but I know Covid changed a lot of things... the menu online is a few dollars less than the menu in the shop..I waited in line for a bit and the young lady working wasn't very friendly and when I asked where the menu was she pointed behind me... ek, sorry but behind me was the last place I expected the menu to be... I peeked around the corner at one point looking for it... why is it posted so you see it as you leave and not walk in... but hey, I was made to feel stupid but yea that makes sense...The service does not give you the warm fuzzy welcoming feeling... it is brusque, a little judgy and like why would they have time and a little courtesy for you as a customer... smile man, life is hard and I'm coming in to support your business... I get home with my goods excited cuz hey life is hard, I spent my money and I'm hungry... I'm praying it is worth the shit attitude...It wasnt! Like damn yo... how do you mess up a sub... It is salty... lettuce is ugh... the turkey was non descript... the bacon could have been better... I didn't enjoy the sub, it was soggy tasting... the bread was soft and fresh I liked that... Ordered lunch for the family and when I picked up the bag of sandwiches, I was surprised by the heft. These sandwiches are no joke! I had the Philly cheesesteak (added grilled mushrooms and grilled onion) and it was perfect. Cheese was melty and gooey and there was a nice crispness to the steak from where it had been seared. Portion sizes are so incredibly generous there were lots of leftovers. Kid had the turkey sandwich, which did have a bigger bun to share the generous portion sizes with the adult menu but otherwise was well portioned to kids. It came with a bag of chips that was as big as the kid me head! Hubby had the Italian and it was so delicious I had to remind him he could save the rest for later and that he didn't have to eat it all right away. I went to Surfwiches based on the recommendation of a friend as we were discussing the best burgers in town. It was a Saturday afternoon and the place was reasonably filled despite the after lunch hour. When I entered the small space, I couldn't quite figure out whether I should approach the counter to order as no one acknowledged my presence. So I was just standing there trying to catch the eye of the lady at the cash register who seemed very preoccupied. When I stepped up, she asked me for my name and then I proceeded to place a simple order - cheeseburger with lettuce, tomato, grilled onions, and bacon. I asked for ketchup and mustard on the side. She then asked again for my name. I inquired about the approximate time that it would be ready and she estimated 5 minutes so I went to my car to wait.I returned 10 minutes later and my order was ready. I ordered a bacon cheeseburger and when I got to my car to check the food, I had a plain cheeseburger. I went back inside. The cashier told me I hadn't paid for bacon but a guy, who appeared to be the owner, said it was no problem and they would add it. Then of course the cashier looked back at the receipt and realized that she had indeed charged me for bacon. First problem solved. When I'd ordered, I had asked for ketchup and mustard on the side and instead, I received containers of ketchup and mayonnaise, which I don't put on my burgers. I didn't bother to return about that. I just used the ketchup. When I got ready to eat the burger, it looked really good. The beef patties were very thin but there was definitely enough substance there to fill me up. After taking a bite, I realized that the burger was very messy and the bottom bun was so soggy that parts were nearly disintegrating and some of it was inedible. It may have helped to have put the moist lettuce, tomato, and pickle on top of the burger instead of at the bottom where all the juices and grease were pooling. Or, a thicker bottom bun could work. With that said, the good things about this place are that they have Herr's chips (no fries), which are hard to find around here but becoming easier with Wawa's arrival, and a free gelato with the yelp check-in. They also seem to have good business so perhaps my visit was atypical or perhaps the burger isn't the thing to get but rather a cheesesteak or hoagie. More...
