My two teenagers wanted to surf while in La Jolla. We learned of this place by asking for a recommendation in a surf shop, booked online at 11 a. m. for a session at 3 p.m. the same afternoon, and spent 90 minutes on a 2 for 1 lesson. My kids essentially had their own instructor.They loved it, they caught waves, they learned a ton, and they agreed it was the highlight of their vacation.The instructor was focused on making them successful and was engaged with them. Overall high quality of teaching and fun.The other instructor was with two pre-teens. They seemed to be having the time of their lives also and they caught a bunch of waves.I highly recommended this. Highly recommend! My boyfriend and I (30 and 28 y/o) stumbled onto this place while looking for surf lessons in La Jolla. Our first afternoon we got a lesson with Sean and had such a good time that we came back the following two days for more lessons . I've taken a handful of lessons from Surf Education Academy & one of the things that stands out about them is that they work with small groups while other companies seem to pack so many students in. S.E.A. definitely taught me invaluable lessons in just a few classes. I thought the coaches were super patient & very encouraging. I look forward to signing up for more this summer! More...

I spent a day with Surf Education Academy volunteering for a Challenged Athletes Event in Encinitas. Â SEA was helping kids with a variety of physical challenges learn about and improve their surfing skills. Â Â The level of stoke from these kids was off the charts! Â Sean, the owner of SEA, and his instructors did an amazing job of giving really clear, easy to understand instructions to help everybody progress at their own pace. Â More importantly, they always kept the vibe fun and positive for everyone in the water. Â If you are looking for surf instruction at any level I can't recommend SEA enough. This camp not only met but exceeded my expectations. I was referred by a close friend who son has been surfing with Sean, the head of the Surf Education Academy. She had the nicest things to say about him. All of those things are true and more. Sean has taken upon himself to create an amazing organization that not only teaches children how to surf, but how to know the ocean and certain techniques that they need to hone in on in regards to surfing. Sean also devotes the majority of his time to Challenged Athletes Foundation other known as CAF. In so many words, I just cannot express to you the greatness of this camp, their staff and the knowledge they pass in to their students. While camps in general can be pricey Sean offers an equal rate to all other surf camps and offers a sibling discount. What I wish I had known was that they offer a sort of "gym" membership. How brilliant! A "surf" membership for your kids. I was confused about the deal, but Sean cleared it up. You basically select a price and for that price you get to surf a particular amount of hours. You can adjust accordingly to your liking. It's brilliant. I look forward to sending my kids out with Sean and his very thoughtful and loving team. Thanks for a great experience. More...

A very knowledgeable surf school, I’ve been instructed by Surf Coach Simon for a couple months, and my skills have improved drastically. I had an absolutely amazing experience with SEA for my bachelorette party!
