I personally really love when a restaurant caters to vegans. Thought I am not a vegan, I love the option without having to make substitutions to other dishes. With that said, vegan Korean food does not hit the same as regular Korean food, but it can still be good and satisfying!I think we came around dinner time on a Saturday, so we waited about 15 minutes. There is a small parking lot in the back, but we had to find parking on the street since it was full. Street parking can be a little hectic! If I remember what the waitress said, I believe all of the banchan is vegan except for the seasoned fish cakes. The vegan kimchi was OKAY. I didn't mind it, though it did taste like it was missing something (just not fully flavored). I do love that they have a pretty big menu with a lot of all options for all types of eaters. And their portions are HUGE.Seafood Pancake - Massive pancake with big pieces of seafood. I enjoyed it with the dipping sauce they provided.Japche (with Bulgogi) - A little on the sweet side. Not my favorite, but it was a huge plate. We barely made a dent in this dish!Dumpling Tofu Soup - I like that they use soy and vegetable dumplings. I always want dumplings but most places always use meat! Flavor was good and very filling. For the area, this is a pretty good Korean food spot. More...

I initially got Sura ordered to my house as I was recovering from COVID. I was immediately impressed on delivery that the components of the ramen were individually packaged so all the ingredients were added per my preference. I got the vegan hangover ramen.  The order was prepared and delivered in a timely manner. Additionally after a second home delivery, my gf and I visited the restaurant and we were not surprised by the service. The entire staff was very amicable, and service was efficient. More of a 3.5 star review. I really liked their pork belly soft tofu stew. It's not as good as bcd tofu stew (no other soft tofu stew compares) but I would give it second place. It isn't so salty like some other places and their side dishes are more on the healthy side. Their spicy cold noodles had good flavor and was very meaty. Ive never seen a restaurant put so much meat into its cold noodles. This is usually skimped on by others but here it was like a full meal of shredded beef on top of the noodles. A solid A+ for that. Where they need to work on is their sizzling kalbi meat. The meat is sliced way too thin which makes it taste "cheap". This cut of beef should be thick and juicy. They missed the mark on this dish. Their side dishes were decent but nothing outstanding. Service was fine- the server was quite generous with the side dishes when I asked for more. But they couldn't pronounce any of the dishes correctly and didn't instinctively know how to serve certain utensils to fit the  meal like someone who is more familiar with Korean food might've already known (eg- scissors and tongs with the sizzling kalbi, mini ladle with extra soup bowls to share the stew, etc) but if you ask they will bring them. Pricing is fair for portions and quality.FYI, this is not a typical Korean bbq place where meats are grilled in front of you. They will come precooked to your table on a sizzling platter. Don't let the name of the place fool you. More...

Had this place bookmarked because it had such great reviews, unfortunately when you set your expectations high you usually get let down - as I was. FOOD: It's not your typical AYCE KBBQ, each meat is cooked for you and for about $20 a meat you get one plate. The spicy pork was bomb, bulgogi was pretty dry & lacked flavor. When I asked for their bulgogi or brisket sauce I was given a "sauce" that just seemed to be the runoff juice from the meat, which 1 - isn't the typical flavor of bulgogi/brisket sauce, and 2 - would have been good if the bulgogi was more flavorful. For $15 you can get a tofu soup, you know the ones that are typically included with your AYCE KBBQ? It's the same size and ingredients, but you pay $15 for it. Idk, I don't mind paying more for food if it's worth it, but imo you're better off going to an AYCE if you want more than just 1 item. If you only want to get 1 meat/item then I guess it's okay? SERVICE: Although our waitress was sweet she didn't seem to care about us, or rather she simply forgot she had a table. For a majority of our meal we were the only customers in the entire restaurant, and even so we had to get other workers to track down our server or interrupt her conversations to attend to us. From taking our order until asking for the bill, our interactions with her was based on us trying to get her attention in a dead restaurant. Once our food was out we were never asked if we wanted a refill for our drink, if we wanted more dishes, or if we needed anything - which we did. To add to that, other workers, idk if runners or wait staff, brought our dishes out so why couldn't they themselves help us out or ask if we needed anything? Most were is a circle just talking? Idk, I was left bummed with our experience. *Towards the end of our meal we noticed another waitress take 2 tables, and she was way more attentive towards her guests, which I guess your experience relies on who's turn it is to get a table. Again, our waitress was nice she was just not a good waitress. More...

I've been here a bunch of times because it's the only Korean restaurant in Long Beach.  The food is always ok and service is always lacking but today was just not good.   I don't think the chef has ever had Korean cold noodles because mine were soft and slimy not chewy as always.  It might have just sat there for too long but it was not good.  Someone brought me my drink and I ordered bachan because apparently you haveto pay for that and rice with the combo but that person didn't tell my server so I waited about 15 minutes for that to come out and had to ask several times.   Why does this have to be the best Korean restaurant in Long Beach?   Please someone come bring a proper restaurant here. Decided to come here yesterday with my boyfriend and friends after seeing all the great reviews. However, our experience was terrible. First off, we noticed that a table next to us with a much bigger party got their food before us even though we ordered first. Our drinks didn't come out for a good 15 minutes and we received the banchan at the end of the meal...for a Korean place, that was atypical since the side dishes are usually the first to come out. The kimchi fried rice was pretty good but very sweet and the nachos were alright. However, our tofu soup smelled and tasted SO burnt as if Teflon was cooked into it. We asked for a remake but the server brought us fried tofu on the side, to which we were confused. After 20 more minutes of us not getting our remade soup she said she was confused and thought we asked that we wanted the tofu be remade and not the whole soup....what? She seemed like she was trying her best but so much had gone wrong that we left without a remake. I'll stick to OC for more authentic Korean food and better service. More...

Consistently disappointing customer service and organization. I said since day, one here the food is great and the service is horrible. Five years  later, nothing had changed.    Just now, I park in front, and stand in the front patio. Exactly as it states on the sign. A blonde girl walks up and tells me to wait we'll be right with you. I then wait outside for 15 minutes, then I call, the girl answered the phone and asked my name. And she says, OK I'll come right out with the food, and she is out there with the food in two seconds.    Mind you, I already showed up 35 minutes after I ordered, when they told me 20-30 minutes, because I know sometimes it takes them two hours to get a delivery to you. But the food is good, so I do keep getting it every once in a while.     When the girl comes out with the food I asked her how long the food has been ready, She told me " about 15 minutes".     Then I asked her if the blonde girl even told her I was out there. She said "No".I was nice, said thank you and left.     That is all I have to say. More...

Had an ok lunch here at Sura.We had the Bulgogi Nachos, Korean Bacon Tofu Soup, Rib Eye Bulgogi, and the bulgogi and soup came with banchan. To start off the bulgogi nachos were disgusting. It's essentially Mexican nachos with bulgogi on top. The flavors did not mix at all. The dish itself is very lazy and lacking uniqueness and creativity. To break it down, the bulgogi was flavorful. It was marinated perfectly and was very tender. Remove the bulgogi you have nachos. The cheese was a very cheap canned cheese. Some what seems to be sriracha, jalapeno, and fine lines of sour cream. When ordering Bulgogi nachos I did not expect this laziness. Maybe a kimchi crema, or instead of jalapeno, use pickled radish. There are many opportunities to make this dish unique and tasty, but they missed it. Eating the bulgogi with the nachos almost made me gag. The sweetness of the bulgogi does mix with any components of the nachos. Having melted cheese or sour cream on the bulgogi did not taste good. The chips themself tasted stale. Moving on to the Korean Bacon Tofu Soup. Some components were a hit, the other a miss. The miss is the broth. The soup itself is very light in flavor and seasoning. It did taste hearty and I felt warm eating it. Though, it felt as if it was missing flavor. The pork belly on the other hand was delicious. It was tender and had nice flavor. The tofu was a perfect texture. Pairing the pork belly and tofu with the rice was a nice treat. The bulgogi was pretty good. Not mind blowing good, but was good. It was marinated perfectly, and was incredibly tender. It paired well with the rice and the other banchan. Some of the banchan is an issue. Most notably, the macaroni was too sweet and the kimchi brand they use is not good. Every other banchan was pretty good. The quality of the food is mediocre. Again the quality in the whole bulgogi nachos tasted of cheap ingredients. Stale chips and canned melted cheese. The soup tasted of good quality. It came out to our table in a light boil. That comforts me knowing, it was just cooked. The bulgogi tasted of good quality. They used ribeye. Again some of the banchan tasted of good quality, the others not so much. Again, the kimchi they buy tasted cheap and not good. The presentation is pretty good. Although not tasty at all, the bulgogi nachos look appealing to the eyes. The tofu soup comes out in a light boil, which instantly looks appetizing. The bulgogi also came out on a sizzling plate, again making it look appetizing. The banchan came in standard cups. The price to portion is pretty fair. The bulgogi nachos did not taste good, but the portion is big. If you do not care about taste, and just wanna fill yourself up, get the bulgogi nachos. The soup was a fair price because it came with banchan. The bulgogi is a very good price to portion. Not only did it taste good, but the portion for the bulgogi is a lot. It is good enough for two people. They give a good amount of banchan. The staff were very friendly. Our server was kind and checked on us a lot. The food came out in average time. Again, all the dishes were hot. The ambiance is alright. Pretty bland designing in the interior. Nothing pops out inside the store. The have outdoor seating. The dining area is pretty clean. I notice towards the front of the store, near the entrance it seems a bit dirty. The parking is good. They have small lot in the alleyway dedicated to their store.Alright Korean food. More...
