This was a personal recommendation from an acquaintance here in Hilton Head. I ordered the catch of the day, Mahi Mahi, and my wife struggled with ordering anything as nothing appealed to her. We started with Bruschetta, which you would have to try really hard to screw up. In addition, we ordered the smoked seafood appetizer. The salmon on this appetizer was average- I smoke fish on a Recteq 1250 pellet grill that comes out perfect every time. There were two mussels and some smoked Mahi (INCREDIBLY dry). The Mahi entree was presented well, and my first bite coupled with the cucumber and feta was good- then every bite thereafter was WAY over cooked. My wife ordered a chicken and pasta dish, and the chicken was bone dry.All of the above with 2 glasses of wine (they have no cocktail menu- was told by the waitress 'they can make any cocktail you like' came to $150.00 with the tip- the waitress was not great and offered no feedback when my wife asked about her chicken entree. $44 for a piece of Mahi and a side of green beans- and the Mahi was DESTROYED- not cooked properly, over cooked chicken- I would save your time and money on a proper restaurant. The Sunset Grille is my grandmother's favorite restaurant on the island. I came back all the way in 2014 and remember really wanting to taste the duck, but just didn't get around to it. 8 years later, I still hadn't eaten duck... until tonight. The duck here was fantastic. Perfectly cooked and the glaze was decadent. I wasn't a fan of the rice - it tasted like it came from a box, but the green beans were fantastic. For an appetizer I ordered the bruschetta, a personal fav of mine these days. The menu had a few intriguing bisques as well, but the bruschetta took the cake. While the food is well prepared, where I felt the Sunset Grille to be a bit awkward is its dining setting. Nestled in the middle of an RV park, its elegance is forced and contrived. I feel the restaurant would work best if it were an outdoor venue looking over the bay, rather than be raised on a second story. Still, this is a minor gripe, and shouldn't take away from the stellar food. The Sunset is a go-to for me and the family when we come to HHI. It's the closest you'll get to fine dining, and for the Island's standards, it's not half bad. More...

The Sunset Grill is tucked away on the second floor of an RV Park and Marina. The old school decor has a fun vibe.We went for brunch. If you want brunch go early. By noon the place is mobbed and popular food options run low. The menu is small with something to please everyone You can order egg dishes, quiche, waffles/pancakes, seafood dishes, potatoes, breakfast meats, etc. I believe the meu changes often. There is a full bar, but Mimosas and Bloody Marys are the crowd favorite. Can't give it 5 stars, sadly. Not everyone's meal arrived warm. Ham was cooked to inedible. What was prepared correctly was very good. Also, we were a family with seniors. Some obviously don't operate quickly. The server was curt and impatient. When we finished eating, but still drinking our cocktails, we were abruptly handed our check. The server hovered over the table trying to get us to leave. This is not a budget restaurant. Prices are high. The food quality and quantity justifies the price. Would I go back?? IDK. More...

Possibly the best meal we had the whole week in Hilton Head. Even though it was raining we were entertained by the dolphins playing in the water. This place is a must!

We went to the Sunset Grille for Sunday brunch. It was the best brunch I have had in years. I had the quiche which was so big I got three mela out of it. There were at least five entrees that made choosing difficult. The owners and wait staff are friendly and helpful. No one rushed our party of six out the door. Don't let the parking situation dissuade you from a fabulous meal with one of the best views on HHI. I am going back soon to try another entree. More...

Perfect for a special occasion. Book a table at sunset. Not a huge menu but sufficient. One drawback is it's on the 2nd floor and no elevator. Restroom is ground floor too.

I made a reservation for 2 for Saturday, 05/14/22, early of the week and was confirmed by phone by Ms. Linda. I showed up at the restaurant by myself due to my partner had an emergency and could not come on time. I met Jackie walking around with a note pad and informed her of my arrival. She looked at the note pad and told me that she didn't have my reservation on her log. I showed her the confirmation voicemail. She told me that I could go outside and wait for an available spot open at the bar. I expressed that I would not be interested sitting at the bar. She then told me that she couldn't accommodate me, otherwise. I was disappointedly letting her know that it wasn't my fault that the restaurant failed to log my reservation in. In return, she denied the obligation by stating that the reservation was for 2 but only I showed up. After few exchanges, Jackie finally told me that I could sit at a table next to the kitchen wall. At that time my experience had been soured and I refused to dine at the place, where I was mistreated. This was an very unfortunate and reflected poorly on the restaurant and the ownership. The guests there seemed to be highly esteemed yet the way I was treated by Jackie was unacceptable excuse and irresponsible. There are many times that numbers of guests change on the last minutes unexpectedly. I am a seasoned diner and have been around quite a bit but have never encountered such situation. I came from out of town and expected to have a pleasant and relaxing dinner. Such experience and the presence of Jackie would ruin the excellence that any restaurant, less alone places like Sunset Grille, tries to pursue. More...

We went to Sunset Grill after reading the amazing reviews, however it fell a little short for me. It is a tiny restaurant on the second floor but the pool of an RV resort. Due to mobility issues, stairs ate a bit of a struggle for me but there was not an elevator option that I saw. The bathroom is also downstairs- you have to use the pool bathroom which was inconvenient and kind of gross. With the price of the meals here, I expected it to be a little nicer. There is a pretty view though. The food was a bit overpriced. It was good, but not amazing. The restaurant was very small and tables were crowded together. Our waitress was not very attentive. Not somewhere I would return to or recommend to others. More...

What a joke. I entered a couple of minutes before my husband as he's slow in the stairs (above the laundromat for the RV park). Door oddly opens in the middle of the tables. No hostess stand. Stood by the bar with no acknowledgement. Once my husband entered a lady asked rudely "do you need something?". He asked for a table. Response: "Are you going to drink?" And "do you have reservations?" Maybe 10 tables and half were empty. No to the reservations. She asked us stand outside to wait as she dealt with the reservations (only other unseated group didn't have reservations). I went to bar to get a couple of beers while we waited. No acknowledgement this no drinks. Once seated, waited 5+ minutes with no service. Left and went to much much friendlier place. More...
