Parent Coaching for Eating Disorders: Food is Medicine
Are you on a waiting list to get expert education and support for your child who is showing worrisome signs of a possible eating disorder? Is your child currently hospitalized for malnutrition or a very low heart rate? Have you tried to find a registered dietitian who specializes in young preteens and adolescents? Have you heard about family-based treatment but do not know what to do? Are you just not sure if your child has a real problem but have noticed weight loss, and more tell-tale symptoms or complaints of being cold, crabby, or constipated?
Melanie will provide a 4-week series of topics that will educate and empower families and provide resources and empowerment. Topics include: What do the symptoms mean? EDGE tool red flags, growth charts tell a story, food is medicine best practices, phases of FBT, Nutrition toolbox for parents and teens, thoughts about co-morbidities. Calls will be held via Zoom. Limit 5 families per call. Sessions repeat monthly. If you miss one you may join next month.

Parents or caregivers who are helping their child, adolescent, or college student who has an eating disorder. Early intervention is the ideal approach to prevent long-term side effects and chronicity. Recovery is possible! Parents play a vital role in nourishment and recovery.
