I cannot begin to describe how amazing Sullivan Tutoring was for my success on both the SAT and ACT tests. I came to Sullivan Tutoring with a low PSAT score, feeling uneasy about taking the SATs for the first time. The personalized experience you receive is incredible. Becky and Scott create personalized goals and study techniques based on each students. Learning in a personalized environment allowed me to connect with both tutors, as they knew my personal strengths and weaknesses. I went into every test I took feeling calm and prepared, and my scores only reflected that. I increased my scores each time I took the tests, and I could not be more happy with the scores I received. I have recommended Sullivan Tutoring to anyone I know looking for an SAT and/or ACT tutor and I will continue to recommend them as long as I can. I highly recommend Sullivan Tutoring for SAT test preparation. Recently, I saw a friend of mine that I had referred to Sullivan. We both agreed there is something special about Scott and his staff--we asked each other, "what is it, magic?" Let's face it, our kids are busy, especially Junior year. How can they make time for one more thing? But as soon as my students met Scott, they wanted to do the work necessary to improve. With one-on-one instruction, practice tests and strategies on how to navigate the tests, they gained the confidence and skills they needed to do well. Scott and his excellent staff encourage and motivate in a positive way. They find out what area your student needs help in and also where there strengths are. The atmosphere of the center is productive. SullivanCards were an excellent resource. My students' scores improved significantly after tutoring with Sullivan. Other tutoring services we tried were just not as effective. By learning the skills taught at Sullivan, my kids were less nervous on test day and could concentrate on doing their best. One last thing, the support staff was flexible about scheduling, which was much appreciated as winter weather would sometimes create commuting problems for us. The crew at Sullivan Tutoring was incredibly helpful. Scott, the founder, helped me get from an original 28 ACT to a perfect score by the end. They were flexible with scheduling and had plenty of practice tests. When you go, be sure to ask for extra tests and actually put the time in. You’ll get out what you put in. I reccomend the 10 session plus extra practice tests, but if you’re able to, doing 20 can’t hurt. More...

I've used Sullivan for all three of my kids and they have all become more motivated by the Sullivan program to study for SATs and ACTs both inside AND outside of tutoring hours. Sullivan tutoring is targeting to your child's particular needs so they don't waste your time on their already-strong areas and they are happy to provide plenty of additional material if your child wants to do more at home. Each of my kids increased their scores between 200-300 points on the SATs (1600 scale) and 5 points on the ACTs after doing the Sullivan sessions. Not inexpensive, but in the grand scheme of college costs and with the weight -- like it or not -- that top colleges put into scores, it was well worth it. Daughter at NYU now sons both scored in the Ivy League score range, which wasn't the case pre-Sullivan. The english tutor even looked over some of one child's poetry and gave him the confidence to use that as a submission in lieu of an essay (it worked!) for one school. :-) More...

No better test tutoring service in the area. I have three kids and, after trying out a few different group and school-related test prep programs with less-than-impressive results, we moved on to Sullivan. Scott Sullivan and his great staff can quickly assess your child's test strengths and weakness and focus on those areas they need to improve. My kids are busy, and the idea of spending time on test prep not geared toward their individual weaknesses was a waste of everyone's time. I would rather spend more on tutoring and have the "homework" (which is as much or as little as your child is willing to tackle!) be geared to the material they need to improve upon as well as overall test-timing practice and strategies. Each of my children seemed especially motivated and engaged in preparing for the ACTs -- and now the SATs for my younger son -- in a way they weren't previously. Scott Sullivan will also help advise you on an ACT v. SAT strategy and his primary English tutor will look over college or prep school essays, if you want. The strength of Sullivan is the skill of their tutors (I've been told by former classmates of Scott that he had a perfect SAT score coming out of high school), and their kindness, patience, and ability to relay their "craft" to students of all skill levels. We used Sullivan Tutoring for both my son who is now a sophomore in college and our daughter who is currently a high school senior. In both cases, we had a great experience with Sullivan. They have a very good system for prepping kids for the SAT's. They broke it down in to manageable parts and using the "cards" was a very good way to target the items a student needed to work on. Very efficient method. Kate and Scott are excellent at making students feel good about themselves no matter what level they are at while also pushing them to be their very best.
