Hot Chicken Ramen is the best food you never knew you were missing! Service was great. I love that they have iced maté, both sweet and unsweetened, with free refills ! The beer selection, though small, had great options. Clean restaurant, especially for how busy they are and only having 1 person at front of house (she was friendly and very efficient). I wish I lived closer. Not the hottest hot chicken but the flavor was on point and the spice level was perfect to not overpower or overshadow the ramen. It was our first ramen experience, and it is going to be hard to top! The pulled pork was crispy and everything was just top notch! Yeah, I guess I'm late to the game BUT I GOT HERE. Better late than never. What a nice burger. Great bun? Never saw a bun like that before. Where are these cats from? (South Nashville I hear by way of Chile.) Great fries, and the spicy aoli? Holy cow that's hot, It took my breath. Whatever the hot stuff is that makes their aloi hot, I don't know but I'd describe it as super chunky hot chili oil. Something like that. I'll be back to try the rest of the menu. I'm just going to go out on a limb here and say that this is probably the most creative and delicious restaurant you'll currently find in south Nashville. Don't get me wrong, there are tons of great places to eat on the south side of town but none of them really compare to Subculture. This place could easily be a crowd favorite in 12th South or the west side of town but for some reason it fits in perfectly with the eclectic offerings of Nolensville Rd. Next door to a Cici's Pizza and in close proximity to the corpse of a Baby's R Us the location is unassuming and maybe could be considered a little lackluster to the untrained eye. But the moment you walk up and see the picnic tables you automatically feel invited and comfortable. The interior is small but cozy and intimate with modern decor and a small bar with a single register. I'm always greeted happily by the staff and feel at ease while ordering. I'm a beer guy and their selection is very good but the menu is what truly rules my world. My personal favorite is their famous Hot Chicken Tacos or the SC burger. My wife loves the quinoa salad with a fried egg on top and our kids dig the empanadas. I've eaten at Subculture once before, right after they opened and remembered how delicious the Cubano sandwich was, so decided to order it tonight from UberEATS. Totally the right decision. I got the pulled pork ramen which, as others have mentioned, needed a bit of spice to really make it killer. Good news is that I always have sriracha on hand, so I added that and it was perfect. The umami flavor in the broth is sooo good and I'm going to need more of it in my life soon. My boyfriend got the hot chicken and waffles (spice level hot because he's crazy) and loved it. It was the right ratio of chicken to waffle and he said that the spice was on point, just as good if not better than the other, more famous hot chicken joints in town. I actually got their food on Uber eats and it was delicious! If a restaurant  can produce food that's good even delivered you KNOW it's good. We order the hot chicken tacos with fries and the quinoa salad. The tacos had massive pieces of chicken on them that were crisp and flavorful. The shells were not soggy and the slaw was fresh and tasty. The fries were seasoned well and not overly crispy/burnt. The perfect fry. The salad was also tasty although we swapped the dressing for the roasted red pepper due to a dislike of lemon. The red pepper is GREAT and they were so accommodating! Subculture is one of those hidden gems, that when you finally discover it, you just can't stop admiring it. Located in South Nashville, just a block away from the famous Prince's Hot Chicken South, and close to so many other great international restaurants in the area. Subculture is First you should know, this is a locally owned restaurant, and Pablo (the owner) really cares about the quality of food. Everything is made from scratch, including the hamburger buns. Speaking of.... for Nashville Scene's "Burger Week," Subculture released the "Chorizioburger 2.0," which consisted of 50% hamburger, 50% chorizio, pickled slaw, refried beans, curtido, and cheese, and it is HANDS DOWN, the BEST burger I have ever consumed. Due to popular demand, they serve it occasionally. It is heavenly and I've expressed several times it should be added permanently to the menu. In regards to other menu selections, they serve hot chicken, and it is rather tasty. I have a high heat tolerance, so I make sure to let them know I want it extra hot whenever I order it. They have it in the form of tacos as well as a sandwich. I also really enjoy their butternut squash tacos, and the butternut squash salad. Their empanadas are always fresh and another favorite menu item of mine.Next time I go, I'm going to try their hot chicken ramen. It looks amazing and has been recommended to me by many.Subby also has a great selection of local brews on tap that are cycled and changed out every week.
