Amazing! Thank goodness for Groupon for leading me to Studi Ling. I hadn't gotten my haircut in over 2 years and I felt like a new woman leaving here. It is a small studio inside Sola Salons in Mission Valley. Super cute and private. Ling is such a sweet and outgoing person, we connected right away. My hair is very thick and simply a mess, I asked for layers and to have it thin out. She basically brought my hair back to life! It looked and felt so much better after. This tired mom has not had her hair cut in over a year! Ling to the rescue! After finding her studio (on the first floor of an office building, to the left) I was soon sitting in her chair as she assessed my hair-situation. Ling asked me important questions about my routine like how much time I want to spend fixing it, products I use and if I use heating tools. I really appreciated this discussion time because I'm a ponytail-all-day kind of girl that would have difficulties managing a "style".She gave me an awesome, simple cut that looks great up or down. So happy I found Ling! This is the 2nd time she's cut my hair and both times she listened to exactly what I wanted and walked me through the cut so I knew what she was doing. She looks out for her clients wants and the health of their hair.  I've never dyed my hair but wanted to go lighter, so I had a million questions and she answered every single one! A year ago I moved to San Diego and worried endlessly about the typical things- including the difficulty of finding a new hair stylist I could trust. One year- three haircuts later- I'm so happy to have found Ling. She's an amazing stylist, truly talented, and a wonderful human being. It's so easy to talk to her- she really puts you at ease. She's dealt with my crazy hair cut ideas and made them into chic trendy looks my husband loves. A good sign of a haircut is 1. Having your significant other notice it without needing to mention it. 2. Having him or her say that it looks sexy. I've had one hair stylist my entire life so when I moved to San Diego I had to find a new one. Anytime someone other than my hair stylist cuts my hair I'm very skeptical, and almost never satisfied. Ling was my first choice and I hit the jack pot. She has an amazing talent and is the kindest person ever. She is so sweet and easy to talk to it's like I've known her for years. I also found Ling through her Groupon deal. And let me tell you, I am so glad I did my homework and visited her. I usually only get my hair done twice a year and now I can safely say that I will definitely be back to see her (and maybe in less time because she's that awesome! )I usually hate the small talk that comes with any service, I'm simply terrible at it. Ling made me feel like we had been friends forever. And her haircuts are simply phenomenal. I have super thick hair so I always worry about overwhelming whatever poor soul I find but she actively listened to what I wanted and most definitely delivered.Tip: Haircuts are usually $65 but if you book your next appointment with her she drops it to $40. Let me just start by saying I'm THAT girl who's athletic and never really cared for her hair,  gets super cut cuts, etc. Ling has convinced me that it is possible for me to keep length while still salvaging my split ended, chlorine damaged swimmer's hair and I trust her! I found Ling through a Groupon. But I think it was fate. I have been looking for a stylist since I've moved to San Diego, and I just haven't clicked with one. Well, I can now stop looking, because I'm in love with Ling's skills. As a client, I'm always scared that my scrambled words and descriptions wouldn't translate into something that the stylist can understand. That wasn't the case with Ling. Ling is the best hair stylist I have ever been to. She knows that I want to grow out my hair for my wedding so she's great about only trimming the dead ends and maintaining my layers. She takes her time and she has a great attitude and is fun to talk to. Just got my hair done for the first time here. I hadn't gotten a hair cut in 2 years! Time just passed me by and I was scared that someone would cut off too much. But she worked with me really well, even though my hair was really dead at the end she did a great job of just cutting to where I asked and listening to what I wanted, unlike many stylists I've dealt with in the past. My hair turned out great and very healthy! She was also very knowledgeable and gave me tips on taking better care of my hair. Ling is AMAZING!! I highly recommend going to her for hair AND makeup! She has done my make-up twice and I loved it! I told her exactly what I wanted and she did just that. It wasn't over the top (like Mac and Sephora do) but just right! Her product is amazing and looks really good on pictures!I am very particular when it comes to people cutting my hair and although I did not know Ling, I decided to give it a shot. Best decision I have made! She is definitely the best stylist in SD. She didn't cut too much, but just what I told her, which rarely happens when you go get a trim, you ask for a trim then cut off 3 inches! I love that she not only cuts your hair but also styles it after she is done and she is super friendly! Has a great personality and really cares about doing a great job. She is very flexible with appointments. So much that for my graduation, my mother and I met her at her salon bring and early 6am so we could both get our hair and makeup that day! Plus if you pre-book you get 20 dollars off your next visit so haircut is only 40! What a deal!Needless to say, I will be going to Ling and no one else. Ling is amazing! I have been going from hair dresser to hair dresser for quite some time now. I have very heavy, thick, and course hair. Previous dressers would use razors on my hair, but Ling knew it was a bad idea. She really knows how to work WITH the hair and make it look its best. She also dyed my hair and brought it back to a healthy shiny color, which I haven't had in far too long. I also walked in after just breaking my phone in my driveway. Getting your hair and make up done by someone new can be a little nerve wrecking... finding someone to do it for your wedding day was incredibly nerve wrecking!  Having Ling take care of me and my bridal party was like having an old trusted friend doll you up.  Her great reviews grabbed my attention and after speaking to her on the phone I couldn't wait to meet her.  During my 2.5 hour trial run, I felt very at home describing the natural yet glowing bridal look I wanted to accomplish.  I instantly loved the meticulous attention to detail she took with my make up.On the big day Ling was incredibly professional and a pleasure to work with.  Our bridal party included 10 ladies and she was able to calmly and carefully make each girl feel pretty.  When it was my turn in the chair, Ling was able to keep my nerves at bay with her calm soothing and sweet voice.  I was very happy with how my final look turned out.  My bridesmaids and I kept receiving compliments about how 'naturally gorgeous' we all looked.  What girl doesn't wanna hear that?!  Thank you Ling, you are a doll!  If I lived closer I'd come get my hair and make up done with you for every special occasion I had!  =D More...

OMG, I found my hair stylist for life. She is amazing after all the reviews I read about her decided to give her a try and was amazed. Most of the stylist don't even show up on time but Ling is always there on time never late and always confirm the appointment the night before in case I forget. Ling is the best thing that happened to my hair!!! I admit that my hair is super low maintenance and I don't have to do much, except get them cut every 6-8 weeks to make them keep looking fresh and tidy. But Ling does a perfect job for me every time I see her, tried to give me more and more layers. Her shampooing, conditioning and then that scalp massage is to die for, relaxes me so much. I just redeemed a Groupon for a deep conditioning treatment, haircut, and styling with Ling. If I were well off, I'd have chucked the Groupon and paid more for the time and effort she put in, not only with my haircut and style, but her customer service. I felt like I had a therapy session with a sweetheart of a friend while getting my hair did!! :DLing really listens to what you hope for in your new look and she takes her time to give you exactly that. I absolutely love my hairstyle and my hair is healthier looking and silky soft to boot!Helpful hint for finding her location: her studio is #13 in the Sola Salon suite of the 1450 business building BEHIND the Denny's (Google maps takes you to Denny's and you're left to scratch your head and wonder what it would be like to get your hair done in a diner (shudders)). I am very particular about my hair.  Most hairstylists doesn't even listen to what you have to say about what you want.  They assume you want a certain cut because of your current hairstyle.  I only have a couple of hairstylists that I can trust with my hair.  It's horrible when you get a bad cut and have to wait a week or two just to get back to normal so you can fix it.  Especially when you have a special occasion you have to attend.Houyling is AWESOME!
