Flavorful small dishes that are different from usual menu items. I've always enjoyed the dishes we get, but my partner is not always satisfied. Great service at the bar, probably elsewhere as well. Decent prices, cool vibes More...

I'm in the business, so I approach with a more critical view than most.  I'd love to help these guys out to home in on a few things.  Overall, though, it was pretty good.My server, Enna, was quite excellent.  Attentive, on-the-ball, helpful, and patient with my indecision over the menu.  Enna gets 5 stars. My first gripe: they were out of iced tea.  At 7:30PM, on a weeknight.  Odd.The food was inconsistent.  I ordered the Dakgangjeong (korean popcorn chicken) to start.  At first, the portion appeared to be small.  But, by the time I finished it, I realized that it was just the "right" portion size.  The Korean BBQ sauce was well-done, tasty, with just the right amount of "tang" and "bite".  I'd definitely order it again, although with so many other choices, I probably won't -- only so I can try some of the other items.  I'd give this item 4 stars.  They also should have served it with chopsticks, not just for authenticity, but for the ease of eating out of the paper carton in which it was served. The big disappointment, though, was the sandwich.  Roast pork, broccoli rabe, sharp provolone cheese on a "soft roll".  Austensibly from Philadelphia, according to the menu.  This set up an expectation of a sandwich most like Tony Luc's (in South Philly).  What I expected was tender sliced roast pork, well-cooked and well-seasoned broccoli rapini, sharp provolone on a soft torpedo roll (like Amoroso's or Deluxe Bakery).  Streets does have the Amoroso roll, according to the menu, for the cheesesteak sandwich (another Philly item on the menu). What I got, however, was totally different.  Pulled roast pork in some sort of savoury goo, with undercooked and underseasoned broccoli rapini.  The rapini was cut waaay too far down the stalk, so it was tough and chewy.  The cheese was sliced a little bit on the thick side, so it was a little congealed and not super-melted.  And, of course, the roll, the base of the sandwich, was just "wrong".  It wasn't a torpedo roll -- it was a long-ish loaf, somewhat soft, but just "wrong" for this sandwich.  It was not at all like I expected.  Should have used the Amoroso Roll.  (Although in Philadelphia, Tony Luc's uses Deluxe). For what it was, aside from the tough and chewy broccoli rabe, the sandwich wasn't bad.  If I were rating it on it's own, rather than comparing it to the South Philly favourite, I'd give it 2-stars.  The undercooked and over-stalked rapini is worth at least two stars, as it was a total turn-off, and the sandwich was "meh" or "eh" at best -- in other words, average.  BUT, since it seemed (on the menu) to be a copy of Tony Luc's famous sandwich -- and the location indicated on the menu corresponds to Tony Luc's -- and it utterly fails at this comparison, I give it ZERO stars.  (Note: I lived in the Philadelphia area for many years and know Philly street food as well as anyone.)Yet, the bottom line is that Streets was a good experience.  I enjoyed myself.  Clearly, some of the food is very well done.  And there's plenty more on the menu I'd like to try.  So, yes, I will go back.  I will try more of the menu.  And I hope that I have Enna as my server again. Went with a friend last night on her recommendation that she got from a friend. Glad we did.  Before I start, I have to point out that this is the same location as one of my prior Carson favorites, The Iguana Grill, so the space had tough shoes to fill. The menu is vast, but duh, the whole theme is street food from around the world so you could get everything from Aloo Tikki from Pakistan to Arancini from Silicy to Pepitos from Venezuela.  I was a little skeptical that they could be so good at making all these things.  I went with the Pepito.  I was hungry so that may have biased my view but this was quite possibly one if the best sandwiches I've ever had.  The bread was soft and delicious, the marinated chicken was tender and juicy and the whole thing just came together perfectly.  It came with fries and I didnt think much of it when I ordered.  But that was a mistake. The fries were fantastic!  I believe they are fresh cut because after I finished I saw a worker with a huge container of fresh cut fries. Using my above average in intelligence, I deduced that those fries and my fries were somehow related. Back to the fries - just the right amount of crispy and crunchy plus they had some herbs, maybe a little garlic, and shaved cheese on top adding extra flare and goodness. Cant wait to go back to try the rest of the menu.  In fact I could see myself going back everyday until I work through the whole the menu. More...

Can I give a restaurant more than 5 stars?  Because Streets on Carson deserves it the world over.  I had heard stellar things about this place for entirely too long, so the SO and I decided to give it a shot one evening.  The space is super cool: decorated with grafitti and each table bears the name of one of the Southside's renowned streets. We just so happened to randomly sit at the Carey Way table, which is where I lived for nearly 7 years!Once I got over the Carey Way nostalgia, we decided to peruse the menu.  We settled on (and shared) the following:Sgagliozze (fried polenta sticks, Italy) - 5/5 - These were outstanding. I plan to wear stretchy pants next time so I can consume more than one order without batting an eye.  Aloo Tikki (potato pancakes, Pakistan) - 2.5/5 - These arrived at our table lukewarm at best, but the flavor profile was still solid. I was too hungry to worry about sending them back to be reheated.  Not sure if I'd personally order them again, but they did pique my interest and make me wonder what other tasty Pakistani treats I'm missing out on.Dakgangjeong (Korean popcorn chicken, South Korea) - 10/5 - Imagine if someone captured heaven, fried it to a perfect golden brown, and stuffed it inside a takeout container.  These were so good that we had an intense discussion over who should get the last piece. I absolutely would order two of these and call it a meal.  So freaking good.Ahi Tuna Bahn Mi (Vietnam) - 4/5 - I love seared ahi tuna and had never had a bahn mi, so this seemed like an obvious choice.  I was left wanting more tuna or veggies to balance out the bun, but overall this was a solid choice and exactly what I hoped it would taste like.I really loved our dining experience here, and this has become my go-to recommendation when someone's looking for "something different."  I really enjoyed being able to sample a bunch of different dishes from all over the world in one place!  Our service was excellent too, which only rounded out an already superb experience. We went to Streets on Carson and got a few small plates to try and some cocktails. Drinks were fine but the food shined. Each plate was really delicious. We got the chorizo flatbread, the dakgangjeong, and the pincho mofongo. The chorizo flatbread has an aioli sauce that stood out. The Korean BBQ sauce topped on the fried rice cakes and popcorn chicken for the dakgangjeong were also really good. We liked the pincho mofongo too but it wasn't a standout - the plantains were more savory then I thought they'd be but were still good. Definitely would go back again to try other dishes. More...

I can't believe I've missed out on Streets on Carson for so many years! The interior is super chic and innovative, using street signs to name the tables and also showcasing a lot of other creative design choices. But the real star is the food. We opted to get four appetizers to share - Mozzarella Tapioca, Roasted Canoe Cut Beef Bone, Aloo Tikki, and Pincho Mofongo. We were impressed with everything, and we'll have to make the restaurant a regular visit since they change the menu and they have so many incredible dishes to offer! More...

One of the best, if not the best, places I've dined in Pittsburgh, except where my son works as a chef, of course :)Everything I tried was presented well, cooked to perfection and tasted amazing! It is a huge complement to any restaurant when this southern Louisiana girl doesn't have to take her Cajun seasoning out of her back pack to make the food palatable. The server was knowledgeable about the menu, friendly and efficient. All the staff seemed to truly enjoy working there and that says a lot about the owner and management. My only regret was the food, all small plates, were larger than most other places I've eaten offering small plates and was so delicious that I ate more than intended and could't order and try more dishes !!!! Oh, well, a good excuse to go back. I highly recommend giving this place a try, make sure you go on an empty stomach though, because you will want to try everything on the menu! More...
