My favorite New Orleans band. A must see at Jazz fest and French Quarter Fest.

The Storyville Stompers Brass Band led my second line parade after my wedding reception this past weekend! What a treat! They were professional, played music that everybody knew, and we had the time of our lives. I would recommend this band for any second line or wedding reception needs. More...

When my husband and I decided to get married in New Orleans, we knew that we had to have a second line. While in the midst of planning I occasionally wondered whether it was worth the added expense, and I can wholeheartedly, unequivocally say YES. There is nothing in my life that I ever have or ever will experience like parading down the streets of the French Quarter with all our loved ones while onlookers cheered and congratulated us.

The Stompers were great, so easy to work with and they sounded fabulous. They showed up right on time at my ceremony/cocktail hour venue, came out onto the balcony overlooking the courtyard where my guests were assembled, started playing and led us all out through the house, down the several blocks to my reception venue, and up the stairs to our reception room where they played one final song - "When the Saints Go Marching In." All our guests were singing along and my husband and I did an impromptu dance even though we had a choreographed "first" danced planned; we just couldn't help ourselves. It was SO FUN. So so so fun. It was the perfect way to kick off our reception and I can't recommend the Stompers highly enough.

I really enjoy hearing the Storyville Jazz Band at the Saints games. They have been around for 25 yrs. They cover more ground than the heralded Saints offense during the games as they canvas the Dome pumping up the party. Bruce Hirstius is the band leader of this group of six. He is 80-something years young and loves to dance. He is so entertaining to watch as he dances for the crowd. I really think he would rather dance all game than play the trumpet. The band's most frequent song is "When the Saints Go Marching In". They perform that song dozens of times during the game. "Down by the Riverside" is also a popular request but they also play lots of dixieland tunes such as "Tin Roof Blues", "Bourbon Street Parade", and "Didn't He Ramble".Catch them at halftime in the mezzanine for a second-line parade! This band is quintessential New Orleans....a not well-known band that leaves you more entertained than you've ever been at a sporting event. More...

storyville stompers played at my wedding this past weekend. They were very professional and easy to work with. They also were able to do a 2nd line for our guests which was really fun. We looked at working with some other bands in the city, but none were as responsive and professional as woody and his team. I would highly recommend them to any bride- especially an out of towner.
