I had my wedding there. Leah did a wonderful job planning it. Great place with great service. My job also has their Christmas parties here and it is fantastic.

It’s a beautiful older hotel with reasonable prices and a great stopping point for long trips from the northeast to the south Most of the rooms are small but they are comfortable and well-appointed. Staunton itself is a nice town with some interesting shops and restaurants along I-81 and the Blue Ridge parkway. More...

A far better hotel than I was expecting. The room was large and immaculate. The bed was wonderful, the bathroom was nice, and the staff professional. The hotel bar and restaurant are more than adequate and the attached garage parking is larger than you would think even looking at it. In house services are extensive and the hotel compares favorably with major marquee hotels in DC and Richmond. That is where I will be staying when I'm in town. More...

Beautiful Historic Hotel So happy we found this beautiful historic gem in old downtown Staunton. Recently renovated and beautifully done. Walking in and seeing the lobby with a grand piano and gorgeous ambience wow. Staff was friendly and courteous. Checkin and checkout was efficient. Hotel is pet friendly with pet rooms. Free WiFi worked well but not secure. Room was clean and beds were comfortable. Nice clean bath area. Only draw back was no refrigerator or safe. Excellent breakfast buffet with an omelette station.  Parking is in the garage next door for $7.50 per night. Highly recommend and would most definitely stay here again. More...

I stayed here for a couple nights, and I had a wonderful experience. The hotel is situated right in downtown, making it easy to get to all the various shops and restaurants. Everyone was friendly, and I enjoyed the restaurant in the hotel, as well. Rooms aren't as large as some chain hotels, but the bed was huge and very comfortable. I'd love to stay here again sometime because the town has a very nice charm. More...

The Stonewall is a clean, recently modernized hotel that is well situated next to everything of interest in Staunton, including the Main Street and the American Shakespeare Center. The rooms are maybe small by chain hotel standards, but they're entirely fine for me. We had plenty of room for all of our luggage, and the bathroom was spacious. The front desk and lobby area is absolutely gorgeous, and the restaurant space is very classy as well. If you're looking for a nice place to stay while visiting Staunton, I doubt you can find anything better than the Stonewall Jackson. More...

This is the best hotel I’ve every visited. First it’s beautiful, fair priced(maybe a bit jacked it the fall due to foliage tourists but still worth it). It’s central to the great stores and restaurants to downtown Staunton. There’s also a fantastic indoor pool and hot tub waiting for you downstairs. It takes you back to the 1920's luxury.  The lobby is beautiful with lots if seating.  A bar overlooks the lobby & if you check in with Yelp you get 10% off!  They also have a dini g room that serves breakfast only & it is a real treat!!!  Park in the garage under the hotel & take the elevator up to the lobby.  The rooms are spacious, clean & incredibly comfortable beds.  It also has a spacious bathroom.  The hotel staff are very friendly & accommodating as well.  Hands down...a great hotel! Newly restored. Tranquil and in the heart of town, next door to Blackfriars Theatre. Spacious dining room and lobby with inviting seating—irresistible spot to while away a summer storm there. Staff were responsive and kind. The hotel’s name troubled me and I likely would have stayed elsewhere but for my mom’s memory of a comfortable stay there years ago. Short people, or mobility challenged, beware the way-too-high beds. More...

I think it's worth mentioning that renovations have just been completed as of late March 2018. I was lucky enough to stay in a renovated room a few months ago and it didn't disappoint. And now in April, without any issues. Very pretty and contemporary, but not modern. (There's a diff.) Nonetheless, this hotel is your best bet in Staunton. The staff is friendly. Breakfast is not free but really good. Parking is $6 and the parking garage elevators are slow as molasses -- you need to know. Otherwise, I actually love staying here. Even without the full-length mirrors, which is weird to not have, tbh. More...

I think many of the reviews here are old...in the sense, that on top of the so called 'recent 20+ Million renovation, there is yet another renovation just completed in  Feb. 2018. I found this on the internet. No idea when I went there about this, but all the issues people mention were non-existent.  As someone said, I tend to prefer modern, you know Holiday Inn Express etc. but after looking at a room, and checking the place out, what was not to like! Everything was spotlessly clean, the staff was warm and welcoming, the pool area is stupendous, and the lobby is just grand. Literally! + the fireplace bar. Sweet. The room (King) was a little small, but all the usual 'historic' stuff like wafer thin walls, squealing radiators for heat, crappy bathrooms, etc. There's none of that. It's like a brand new hotel. Whoever was in charge did a fantastic job. Parking is easy, anyway, overall it was just splendid. Breakfast was awesome, they have an omelette bar, and everything you could ever want for breakfast. Price on a March weekend, only 125. Not bad at all. Dinner at Emilio's was divine and very reasonable. Staunton we love you. Ypu're a long way from California, hope we can come back. Nobody cares that the place is named for a Confederate General? Just curious. I don't care what it's called, as long as it stay as nice as it is now. More...

We really enjoyed our stay here. We were going to a show at Blackfriar Theater next door, and stopped here for the night. We had a wonderful dinner and breakfast at the 24 Market, but the highlights for us were the big, soft bed and warm, cozy fireplace by the bar . There's a good gym too, which looks out over a pool. I would definitely come back, if we're in the area again, and I'm already trying to figure out how I can make that happen.  It's a little pricey, but it's a good deal in light of all the amenities. During a recent trip to the Shenandoah Valley to take in the fall colors we stayed at this historic hotel located in downtown Staunton. The hotel was renovated in 2005 to modern standards but has retained it's rich architectural history. The room, while small, was clean, well decorated and had a fantastic bed that provided a great night's sleep. Some modern conveniences were present in the room including a Kurig coffee maker; however if your in need of a small refrigerator..no dice! The hotel's location is perfect, situated in the middle of downtown and within walking distance of several great restaurants, local shops and not to mention a crown jewel right next door..The Blackfriars Playhouse. The hotel staff were courteous and professional and while the price of the room was somewhat high, it is worth your hard earned money. So if your looking for a hotel with historic roots, conveniently located to great downtown Stanton restaurants and next door to a Shakespearean playhouse..this is your gem! I understand that this hotel is a local landmark and that it's in a PRIME location, but I paid over $100 for a tiny room with three large windows and a view of a wall out each one. Now I WILL say that the staff was friendly, and you can walk anywhere you need to go due to the hotel being in the heart of downtown. The room was clean, and updated, just kinda cramped. But like I said, you're more paying for location than a nice room. More...
